The average person hears the word memoir and believe deeply that it is solely their memory, when in actuality it is the recalling of thoughts through influence. When I started to write this paper, I immediately thought of my graduation in May 2015. But it was hard for me to distinguish what I truly thought and what I had heard others say. So I went on to think of the summer program at Dillard through Emerging Scholars June 2015. Here, I thought this would be great, because there was no family around to tell me how great it was, but then I thought about all the other things that students and faculty had said and that made me indecisive on whether or not I wanted to continue on that path. I then decided that I should write about my first semester …show more content…
How beautiful it was, all the beautiful people that were there and how much sacrifice my friends and family made. The truth is my graduation day started out clear and sunny. The white tents lined the oaks of Audubon Park and every spectator thought it was a wedding. The food, the music, the guest, and then the storm. It rained and stormed, the wind blew, and water rose. We had to keep moving to higher ground and yet, no one left, those who were supposed to be there, were present, those who failed to attend, gave me a new outlook on the value one places on relationships. After the storm was over, the sun shone again, and though the park was a mess, the event continued in the class the was …show more content…
I was confused as how the two had gotten so misunderstood. This was the first time in my life that I felt no one understood me and that no one could help. I felt despised, rejected and abandoned but I found a solace in Christ Jesus. My graduation day was a foreshadowing of what was to come. Even now my life can be compared to the recent tornados in Louisiana, some things in people it touched and some things it did not. Now it’s after the storm, I’ve gotten new glasses now I call them rose gold. I still look at the world through the kingdom because it was Job who said when I have been tried I shall come forth as pure gold. So I stand on the scriptures that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, fear of the Lord brings wisdom but humility comes before honor, greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world, and ye shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water who brings forth fruit in its season who’s leaves do not wither in drought and whatsoever you do shall prosper. These were the most remarkable memoirs that I could hope to put as a treasure in the earth’s investment. To know that God will keep you in peace if you keep your mind on Him and that he is always near and he touches the hearts of men to show favor on you, to know that no matter what is coming against you he is
During my two last years of high school, i've been in contact with a lot of colleges and universities. Many of which don’t get my attention. Throughout my whole high school years, there was only one college that i wanted to go to, Liberty University. I have heard so many wonderful things about Liberty and what i loved the most was that it was a christian school. Liberty had the number one thing that i am looking for in a college, that is a christian school, but many of my other things that i look for in a college where just not there. I used to live in Florida approximately 11 years ago and let me tell you, it's hard not to miss the sunshine state. Liberty is in Virginia, a state where it doesn't feel like home. When i received a brochure
It is Sunday morning in Miami, but for me today is a new beginning where my independence start and I can use my time wisely. Therefore, I decided to travel to the beach, with the windows down having the wind run through my hair and having my favorite song "Independent Woman" play on the radio. The sound of the waves of the ocean it was incredible and peacefully, which reminds me of the feeling of comfort when I am sitting on Brandon. Another example why Brandon is important in my life, it is because, during high school, I spent plenty of time waiting for the bus to travel to work and home, and in today's day time is valuable. However, I lost time being incapable of buying me a car. Missing the bus plenty of times and having to count on my friend
If I could go back in time and relive a particularly difficult moment in my life, I will work part-time in the weekend in high school. I want to save my money. I want to travel other state. I also want to see my childhood friends. I wish I spend more time to have fun with my friends when I was young. When I first came here I went to school and I didn't how many class I have to take the class and to pass the MACS. I spent one more year to get my diploma. I wish if I know all this I will take class that require. I will go to Middlesex Community College early to practice the MACS because they have MACS class. After I going Middlesex Community College I pass the MACS. It is very helpful to go there. I learned a lot of MACS how to answer the open
The Jersey City Summer Internship Program has given me a chance to experience my first job. They graciously enough placed us in Brown Brothers Harriman Bank. Let me tell you, I would not be anywhere else. This place is candy land for me, to learn and understand how systems/technology works. But, not only am I grateful for this knowledge and experience, I appreciate the way it was organized. Jason, the way you organized this event was spectacular and it incorporated some hands on experience, not just listening to specific instructions. Besides the work life, you’ve given me advice for college and how to balance your private life with work, so you don’t stress yourself out. You put a spin on every task I do, which makes me confident and takes
Hi, I am Anna Wysmierski, and I live in Farragut. I am originally from Elyria, Ohio, but my family moved here to Tennessee when I was eight years old. My summer was busy, but it was very fun. I spent the first half of my summer at East Tennessee State University participating in the Governor’s School for the Scientific Exploration of Tennessee Heritage and the second half going on college visits and doing summer swimming at Village Green. Regarding work, I worked a couple of lifeguard shifts at my neighborhood pool this summer. Next year, I plan on majoring in either math or actuary science at the college I end up attending. Honestly, I do not know much about personal finance, so most topics will be new and interesting for me to
After participating in the Health Career Opportunities Program, a Howard University-sponsored accelerated learner’s program, the summer I began my freshman year, I was optimistic about how my college career would turn out. I was confident in what my future grades would be, because we took classes that summer to prepare us. I was sure my journey through Howard University would be a smooth one. This thought was abruptly curtailed in my first spring semester. After doing alright in my Fall semester, I got extremely homesick in my Spring semester after realizing how much I missed home. This made my grades drop far below than anticipated, and unfortunately, this trend continued until Spring of 2017.
On oracle its showing that I have 97.14 hours left and that's for Spring semester, but I was awarded for Summer and I don't start summer school until June 6th. So what will be my balance for summer aid because it showing my total award balance left is 1068.63 out of the 6500 for work-study.
Obviously, there are many students out there who are very deserving of being accepted into Loyola University Chicago. To be honest, I am probably very similar to them with academics, extracurriculars, and all other good stuff that high schoolers do. However, I do know for a fact that I truly do belong at LUC. Looking at the different missions and values that this university stands for is quite inspiring, as I strive for the same for myself and the future. I used to be very close-minded and selfish, but when I started freshman year at a new high school, everything changed. I did not have much other than my academics and family, so I was like a recluse. I only went out for school, but when I got involved in a local service group called the International

Like No Other are the three simple words that have been chosen to define this school ,and the truth is in many ways it’s not, and in many ways it is. Lindenwood University has become a home and a source of stress for most of the students here, but we all chose to come and most chose to stay here. Some come for sports, scholarships, programs and etc; but most stay become this once unfamiliar place became their home. When talking to four of my fellow students here on campus, who come from all kinds of background, the overwhelming consensus is that lindenwood while it is a pretty a pretty campus the department's need a little work. During my interviews I asked four simple questions: what was your first impression at Lindenwood? Why did you originally
"We may never know what we will become”. That quotation seems especially apt to me because it sums up the prevailing attitude at Cornell University Summer College, a program that I had attended between my junior and senior year of high school.
I remember the first day of my second year at Polk State College I was driving to the Lakeland campus, which was 32 minutes away from my house I was very excited because its new semester different campus and professors.
During my internship program, I had the opportunity to talk to my worksite administrators about the quantity and quality of old and new initiatives been implemented throughout the school year. After more than fifteen years of experience of each of the three assistant principals, they agreed that a leader should never request an educator to implement a new strategy or initiative without eliminating some of that teacher’s workload first. For my first objective on the SIE for Jefferson Elementary School, my plan of action would be to allocate the Human Resources in specific tasks and specific subject areas to ease the load of teaching several academic courses successfully. There are so many things, programs, technology, and other initiatives that could be put in use to help
Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said,” Can you believe that we are about to graduate?”
Graduation day arrived and I had butterflies out of this world. It seemed as if I misplaced everything. I could not find my dress. My family came from one state to another. I finally got to the church were the commencement was going to be held. I
