I feel my style of practice continues to expand from the knowledge I've gained from this, and my other courses as well as from the many hours I have spent at the hospital with my field instructor. In addition, I am definitely more self-confident and informed in my approach when interacting with the patients and staff at the hospital. One downside, is that there is not enough time in the day, because, I have once again fallen behind on some school work, so I'm trying to employ some new time management techniques that will allow me to go to work, spend time at my practicum site and complete my assignments with fidelity. With all that said I thought this course was a very eye-opening experience and I am excited as well as looking forward to actually
Over my years of school, one big influence on me has always been sports. Ever since a young age, I have always enjoyed playing and watching sports. In my four years in high school, I have fell in love with the sport of lacrosse.
I woke up and took one bite out of my pop tart but that one bite was all I could eat. My legs were shaking, and my heart was pounding. My dad told me, “It is a true honor to even make it this far so go out there and have some fun.” Once I heard this statement, I knew I was ready to go. I arrived at school and boarded the bus. The car ride was an hour and fifteen minutes of hearing the squeaking of the wheel on the bus. My teammates were getting their heads ready for the big game.
When it comes to my passion most don’t understand it the way I do. For the past three years my passion has been lacrosse. Since I was a freshman at Sandalwood High School my interests for the sport have grown and my devotion and commitment have reached new limits. Most people don’t understand lacrosse, they just know that it is a sport “with sticks and stuff”, and while I don’t take offense to ignorance; sharing my passion with others is never a burden. Lacrosse is one of the biggest parts of my life as of now and I believe it will continue to be for many years to come, but there’s more to the sport than most people know. Lacrosse has a history behind it older than any other sport in America, as well as the fact that as of now,
Writing presents it’s own challenges to those who write books and articles daily; and to those who write less frequently. Getting around using punctuation, placing commas, and figuring out how to start an essay always seemed to be the biggest challenges for me. Through practice is the only way I’ve come to be masterful over my own writing style, even though there is always room for improvement. Because each time someone sits down to write a letter, article, or book; they are practicing their writing style and ultimately becoming better writers. Many people find writing to be a hassle or too cumbersome in a day in age of technology and the internet supplying information to the public so immediate, but everyone must overcome challenges that they
Home is the beginning of one’s book. It is where your story begins, forms its characters, shows its purpose, and reveals its ora. This is how mine is written. Home is on the buzzing highway down a bumpy gravel road. It’s Brandon, Mississippi. It is the only home I’ve ever known. Home is the smell of homemade biscuits and tomato gravy on Saturday mornings. It is “Bless Your Heart” and “Yes Mam” and “No Sir”. The little bedroom in the back of a grey double-wide where Carrie Underwood songs played and where I learned to curl my hair and put on mascara. My cousins and I running around with mason jars, chasing the lightning bugs. Bar-B-q on the back porch and never meeting a stranger. It is the morals learned and the identity
Today I had my first therapy session with lady Macbeth as I listened to her problems and concerns and observed her behavior I noticed that she couldn’t sit still. As well I noticed her frequent mentions of gaining control and power over situations and others. On my next session with her, I hope we can dig little deeper into the reason’s behind her fascination with power.
Everyone has their own style of writing. Many differ drastically, while others are extremely similar. Although my own writing could use numerous improvements, which I‘ve set as goals for this class, there are a few things that I’m partial to.
I believe my approach with writing has drastically changed throughout this semester. I have learned to become more prepared and take my time in writing my essays rather than just jumping into them without a clue of what is to come. I grew even more than I had originally expected. I’ve been able to share some things that have happened in my past, and I have been satisfied with how I was able to write them. I’ve learned more about commas and sentence structure this year than I’ve learned in the last two years combined. Two areas that still need improvement are my grammar and my commas. I do not always pay attention to what I am saying, and I just ramble on without going back to check what I wrote. Most of the time it gets pretty crazy.
I worked by myself for the most part, and was given tasks by either Tom Kelly or Eric Dykeman. I was given access to everything that Tom would tell me to do, and that includes seeing billing info, and on the bills I would you tell the company how much they owe the Chamber in dues, I also was to see why they left and complaints that they had. With Eric I would be given tasks like making schedules, finding people to contact for meeting, and to organize how the meeting was going to plan out. Almost every day was different, and there was always something to get done or to visit. I traveled with Eric a lot to the town of Braintree where there would be meeting, and I also traveled to see where they are trying to build more infrastructure. I would
It was a beautiful early september day before the school year started. I was still nervous no matter how perfect the day was. It was my first rehearsal with the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony I had just been admitted into. I looked for familiar faces in the rehearsal room. Only one girl who played violin looked familiar. Nervousness began to take over as the new faces crowded into my head. I looked around and found a group of guys with trombones, the instrument that I play. Not sure how they would respond I decided to go join them.
When I’m working on something creative, I keep my PC or my phone next to my bed. I seem to have the best ideas when I’m so tired I can’t keep my eyes open. I’ll get up and make notes. I commute a lot and driving seems to promote ideas as well.
I have experienced failure many times in my life, but the one that sticks out the most to me is when I took my first ACT. Going in to the test, I knew I wanted to get a 27 or higher. That was the score a lot of colleges use as their honors score, and I thought that was a reasonable starting point. I had taken an ACT preparation course before, but that was the only studying I chose to do. Test day arrived and I was very nervous, like most people before the ACT, and I had to drive an hour to get to the test site. Four hours later, I finished my test and thought that I did pretty well and that I should have no problem reaching my goal. A couple weeks later, the test results came back and I had received a 26 on my ACT. I felt horrible. I was so
My brain was overwhelmed, I had many ideas but I didn’t exactly know how to put it all together and make it look like a whole big movement, I was nervous and confused at times, and at the end of each rehearsal I would say to myself what else can I do because it felt like I was out of movements. That was the cycle of my mind during this process. I was very excited about this project even though I knew it was going to be a lot of workIbut I didn’t think that I had to be so detailed with everything to make sure that the message got across. Something that helped me a lot with this process was doing a proposal before starting rehearsal, which allowed me to have a strong idea about my piece and have a set of movements already planned out. I already
I am totally not good at presentations, and I usually go blank while I present. Of course, this time as well, I went totally blank even though I practiced many times, therefore, I could improve it in the future if I practice in front of my friends to get used to present in front of people. Moreover, since I am an accounting major, and I am not familiar with this kind of subject at all, I should have prepared more to make myself familiar with the topic.
