My brain was overwhelmed, I had many ideas but I didn’t exactly know how to put it all together and make it look like a whole big movement, I was nervous and confused at times, and at the end of each rehearsal I would say to myself what else can I do because it felt like I was out of movements. That was the cycle of my mind during this process. I was very excited about this project even though I knew it was going to be a lot of workIbut I didn’t think that I had to be so detailed with everything to make sure that the message got across. Something that helped me a lot with this process was doing a proposal before starting rehearsal, which allowed me to have a strong idea about my piece and have a set of movements already planned out. I already …show more content…
I was very excited about my first rehearsal because I took the time to plan everything out. The best thing I did was to plan ahead of time, during my first rehearsal i taught a minute and three seconds which was the whole beginning of my dance when Alexandra, the female dancer, looked like she was struggling to show the boys that she is capable of doing what they can do but the male dancers kept pushing her away because they thought she was never going to do half of the things they do. After this rehearsal, i was able to see that it was not going to be so hard for me to get through this process because I made sure that I was …show more content…
I got the experience to be the choreographer of my own senior piece meaning I had everything in my hands and it was my job to make it right and worth it. It taught me that being responsible and prepared was very important, when you are creating a dance on other dancers it's good to communicate with each other, and sometimes you have to be aware of the choice of the movement you choose for your dancers because sometimes movements that look good on yourself won’t look as natural on others. After all, this rehearsal process of creating a dance that will be performed on a stage was very tough but rewarding at the same time. It was a good learning
At the time, I never really knew the impact my dance would have on me. I remember the first rehearsal I had with my dancers. Even then, among the dancers, the younger ones were still consumed in showing their beauty, while the older ones wanted to show depth.
This experience was really important to me because I got to learn about myself as a dancer because the judges gave us feedback. This made me happy because I love to dance and I will keep doing it for years so I want to improve as much as I can. I also learned from this experience that because I don’t like tap, I should work twice as hard when practicing it so that I get better at it instead of falling behind. My dance team and I are now working on 2 dances to perform at a real competition, and it has become a big part of my
Then we started to warm up because we had a judge's preview. So basically we just went into a classroom and performed our dance it was really scary at first, but then it got better because I knew they weren’t judging us that
It’s really cool to just try the moves we learn in class with different people. I would get really nervous when I dance with someone that’s better than me because I would be scared to mess up, but eventually I got the hang of it. I regret not dancing with the more skilled girls because I would probably have learned a lot from them. It did feel a little discouraging towards the end because no one else was dancing except the more advanced people. So all I could do was observe them and admire how graceful all of them looked.
In middle school, traditional dancing was a hobby, but at our church’s Chinese New Year Celebration, I wanted to create a routine. So, in the next few weeks, I gathered 8 girls together to make the troupe. Only problem was that I was the only one with any dance experience. Though choreographing to the music came easily, teaching the girls did not. Over 3 months, we practiced tirelessly in my house, perfecting every move for the performance. In the end, our traditional dance was a hit, and we continue to perform year after year. I think I am most proud of my first New Year performance. It was the first time that I had initiated an event by myself and watched it
All though I was scared because I wasn't stretched I was super happy and excited, because I didn't know that my favorite choreographer was teaching the addition. I learn the dance in pain I thought to myself, that the dance my learning was too much of a difficulty for me. Once all of the 15 intimidating groups of talent, go to addition. I was next in
During this project, I conducted myself as if I was working professionally, by ensuring I attended all classes and rehearsals on time, behaving respectfully towards the choreographers and fellow dancers, and organising extra rehearsals for the group outside of scheduled rehearsal times. I also ensured I was working on developing my performance skills throughout this process by practicing technical exercises and routines daily to enable me to perfect movements and improve my overall level of performance. Rehearsing the routine daily will gradually improve
The written rehearsal strategy device I used was concept cards. I took a couple of steps to fully understand this specific rehearing strategy. First, I scanned chapter 3 of the biology textbook and I looked for words I thought that would have a huge impact within the chapter. Afterwards, I wrote down the word down on an index card. I wrote the definition of the words, I mostly looked up the word so I could get the official definition. Then, I rewrote the definition but I wrote it in my own words so I could have a better understanding of the concept. Next, for each word I would try to think of a memory trick I could use to remember the definition of the word. It would mainly consist of breaking down the word and finding words that could correspond with the definition. Next, I wrote down where the word was found and I transferred the exact sentence from the textbook into the note
Rehearsal skills assignment I think our performance went very well because we were able to maintain a steady pace and everyone was able to keep in tune with their own parts. The part I play in out group was the alto part and I was mainly a follower because I had a lesser knowledge of music than some of the other girls in my group. The challenges we faced was that we only had all the girls together for one rehearsal. Also, we had trouble staying on track because none of us really liked the song, so it was a tad bit hard to really get into the song.
I enjoyed this class and learned a lot about dancing. I believe the main idea of the class was to build on technique and work on personal weaknesses. On day one, I was a very shy person. I would not talk to anyone, but just worry about myself. When we learned the first couple steps, I was actually pretty scared. I thought I would have messed up, which I did. It was hard at first, but time and lots of practice proved me wrong. I slowly understood and noticed the little details in each specific technique. An example I had trouble with balancing on my toes. I tried my best to practice them on the weekends after class. I got better at them. However, my best is not enough. I know I am good at that, but I would say I have the little, tiny
Entering my freshman year, I naively expected to feel comfortable right away. I did not anticipate the mental challenges I was going to face my first semester. Suddenly, my passion for dance
When i have several things to do and several places to go in a day, i feel thrilled and accomplished, i like being busy. I have learned how to prepare and how to deal with being overwhelmed and tired. Dance has pushed me mentally and physically everyday to be ten times better then what i just did and to be a hundred percent focused and detailed in everything. It has taught me to pick apart every move constantly and always be prepared for failure no matter how much was put in. Imagine working a whole year constantly to learn and perfect one dance and then after all the hard work, you only get one chance to do it. It could turn out amazing or you could do awful but you only get one chance to do your best. You have to be ready for failure and you have to be prepared to mess up or score awful even if you've worked your hardest and have been giving it your all for a whole year. Dance has taught me amazing characteristics that have made me do better in school then i would ever done without
I think that my body had not been used to the practice schedule that we had that week. I was super happy that my dad was going to be at the competition though. My parents aren’t home very often so whenever they are it means the world to me. So, this made me want to do very well at this competition to make my dad proud. At dance and cheer competitions they require you to wear your hair a certain way and do a lot of makeup. I personally loved it. I think that it is super fun to do that and to not even really look like yourself anymore. So, I did my hair and makeup and we went to the studio to practice before the competition. We had like two hours of practice then some of the girls and I went to eat Subway before the competition. After that, we got to the competition and warmed up our pieces so we were ready to show
The production process for “The Audition” was unlike any other show I’ve been a part of. The scenes were rehearsed and broken up into sections that were often blocked out of order, and other elements of the show like the dancing and singing, also started out as separate entities from the rest of the show. This came with multiple challenges, but many of them worked themselves out in the end. The dance and choreography was especially exciting for me, because it is something I enjoy and have a talent for. That being said, there were still challenges that came along with it. I had to learn how to teach dance to people who have never set foot inside a dance studio which is no easy task. Luckily, the more
When I heard that I would have my own group, I instantly got nervous, but I knew that I was going to teach underprivileged children, and I was excited to teach them what I love doing every day. My dance friends and I worked on some dance pieces to show the kids, because we knew that they wouldn't have seen a lot of dances. When the day came, many of the
