Personal Narrative: My Rehearsal

In 2025, I will be twenty-nine years old and hopefully married. I will be married to my significant other of ten years Earnest Palmer III, who is a dentist. I would have been recently graduating with a bachelor’s in Culinary Arts and trying to plan to open my own restaurant, BubbaD’s Eateries. Knowing my big headed husband of mine, I probably had a baby then and trying to have another baby. Hopefully, by then Earnest will get rid of the idea naming our son, King. We will be living in the suburbs near New York City but working in the city. Being a woman with great memory, I probably wrote a memoir about my crazy life and trying to sell it to a publisher. If none of the publishers wants to publish my memoir, I will probably sell it the Lifetime

Over my years of school, one big influence on me has always been sports. Ever since a young age, I have always enjoyed playing and watching sports. In my four years in high school, I have fell in love with the sport of lacrosse.

I woke up and took one bite out of my pop tart but that one bite was all I could eat. My legs were shaking, and my heart was pounding. My dad told me, “It is a true honor to even make it this far so go out there and have some fun.” Once I heard this statement, I knew I was ready to go. I arrived at school and boarded the bus. The car ride was an hour and fifteen minutes of hearing the squeaking of the wheel on the bus. My teammates were getting their heads ready for the big game.

When you crash into a truck and your car flips over four times, usually you die. In my case I’m just in a coma, lying in a hospital bed. There are two problems with this. For starters, I’ve been in this coma since 2008 and it’s nearly 2016. The doctors say that pretty soon they’ll have to pull the plug on me because I’m not showing any signs of waking up any time soon. Apparently, I’m taking up a bed that could be used for some other sick kid. The second problem is that I’m not just lying half-conscious, but I’m in another world. This may sound crazy, but it’s true. When you become comatose your brain pulls a few strings and sends you to a lovely place called The Inbetween. The Inbetween is filled with people who are in situations similar to mine, but how they ended up like this could be different. The world is peaceful and everything until you realize the downside. When you wake up in the strange world, the first thing you notice is the bright blue tattoo embed onto your forearm. Every person here has a different one, and you can not leave until you find your match. This process could, unfortunately, take days, weeks, or even years. Sadly if your match dies before they can even get here, then you pass away as well. I have been stuck here for almost eight years and I’ve had no luck with finding my match. A memory from my childhood that I can recall is the time when my older cousin, Marc, had taken all the younger cousins, including myself, to Disneyland. We had spent the entire day there, but I can only recall fragments of the day —the gloomy morning, the antsy car ride, and the thrill of Tower of Terror, for example.

Being unprepared is something we all have gone through once in our lives, or maybe if you’ve been organized up to this point, someday you’ll experience it. Getting due dates and procrastinating is something we all can relate to and are familiar with. I personally, find solace in the pressure of time running out because it motivates me to get things finished. This is the story of how I successfully procrastinated on a very important math project.

It’s the end of the season now. The weather outside is getting cold, the leaves are falling, and the smell of winter is coming. After school I go to the auditorium for play rehearsal. We begin discussing about what parts we each will be responsible for. I’m not doing very much on the stage in the beginning because I don’t have a part assigned until a later time. To be honest it’s very boring when you don’t have a part during a play rehearsal. We are taking a break and I began contemplating the last cross-country race we had as a team.

While rehearsing after school for a plays my Sophomore year, I found my friend in a classroom, crying and sitting with his back towards me in the corner. He told me he felt like everyone disliked and disapproved of him, and that he faced everyday with hopelessness and constant depression. He had considered suicide. This was a familiar danger at school because of another classmate who had ended her own life the summer before. I was gravely shocked to learn of my friend’s suffering. We spent a lot of time together and I never had a clue that he was struggling. Since that conversation and all those that followed, I never have assumed anything about the people that I encounter based on what they present on the surface. Thanks to my friend’s trust

I am an introvert. I value my personal space and I need my alone time. I haven’t had much of either ever since I moved into my dorm at the University of Georgia two weeks ago. Every day has been a combination of classes, errands, and friends. This isn’t a complaint. I love the freedom and figuring out how to handle more responsibility. I love being around other people and having friends that are always up to watching something on Netflix or playing a game. But everyone needs a break. The first two weeks have been a rush but there hasn’t been a moment to just pause and take in everything that has happened so far.

I have experienced failure many times in my life, but the one that sticks out the most to me is when I took my first ACT. Going in to the test, I knew I wanted to get a 27 or higher. That was the score a lot of colleges use as their honors score, and I thought that was a reasonable starting point. I had taken an ACT preparation course before, but that was the only studying I chose to do. Test day arrived and I was very nervous, like most people before the ACT, and I had to drive an hour to get to the test site. Four hours later, I finished my test and thought that I did pretty well and that I should have no problem reaching my goal. A couple weeks later, the test results came back and I had received a 26 on my ACT. I felt horrible. I was so

Despite everything I recollect distinctively the underlying day beginning off as a theater professional. Taking in the methodology and getting to know the general population were huge numbers of the principal things I did. A large number of the accomplished "geeks," as we called them disclosed to me the strategy they manufactured sets and how to program the lighting console. Utilizing power apparatuses and saws were fun yet arranging and executing each progression was the best part about it. Many oversights were made while I was adapting yet time enabled me to create and improve my capacities.

My brain was overwhelmed, I had many ideas but I didn’t exactly know how to put it all together and make it look like a whole big movement, I was nervous and confused at times, and at the end of each rehearsal I would say to myself what else can I do because it felt like I was out of movements. That was the cycle of my mind during this process. I was very excited about this project even though I knew it was going to be a lot of workIbut I didn’t think that I had to be so detailed with everything to make sure that the message got across. Something that helped me a lot with this process was doing a proposal before starting rehearsal, which allowed me to have a strong idea about my piece and have a set of movements already planned out. Waking up to nothing seemed to be my daily routine. No one cared about me and honestly I didn't care for anyone either. My mom did her usual invitation to breakfast playing the part of a caring mother but I can see through it . I get dressed and put on my usual locket my grandmother gave me before passing away, the only person who I felt love for, that is if it existed she was the closest thing to it. It was a beautiful silver heart with beautiful tiny colorful diamonds inside , she said to me as she pressed it in my hands, “ Raina you're more than what you are set to believe your are, great things are waiting for you.” She always knew what to say even if I didn't believe it I felt better with her warm soft words.

The majority of my childhood consists of me at the restaurant, helping my parents. There, I would either be folding the eating utensils, bring bills to the customer's table, placing place-mats on the table, or working at a cash register. My job has always been the small tedious tasks. Then at age seven, everything changed; I seated my first customer. To me, seating a customer was a milestone marker because I did something out of my comfort zone. I was always scared of having a conversation with the customers because they looked intimidating. The most interaction I have had with customers was handing back their change. I have never done it and I never planned that it would happen. However, one day, the restaurant was in chaos. People were rushing
