The world is full of unsolvable problems with undiscovered solutions. There are small problems in the world as well as big problems in the world. A big problem that everyone has been affected by is cancer. Cancer affects the lives of many but, still has no cure. My goal is help others find a cure for cancer even if I play a little part in helping researchers find a cure. Cancer research has been going on for years yet, no cure has been found. I know many people who have been diagnosed with cancer and even some that was had their life taken away from cancer. If a cure for cancer was to be found no one would have the suffer from cancer. Cancer is something that no one wants to have especially knowing that it has no cure. Those that are able to fight against cancer and be a survivor of cancer are given a great blessing. Even though we have yet to find a cure for cancer there are many organizations that work together to help fundraise for cancer. Organizations such as the American Cancer Society, and small organizations such as Relay For Life. These organizations dedicate their time to find donations to help find a cure for cancer. Organizations like this make cancer researching possible. Organizations such as these inspire me to find ways to help find money for cancer research. …show more content…
Although I’m just one of thousands that participate knowing that it is money that I worked hard to raise for makes the cancer research more sincere and personal. I hope to continue Relay for Life and continue money to help find a cure for cancer. Although I’ve only done a small step into finding a cure for cancer, a small step can make a difference. As I grow older I hope I can help even more by being able to directly help the American Cancer Society or maybe even take part in being a researcher to find a cure for
This text is a speech presented by Jimmy Valvano at the 1993 ESPY's. This speech is iconic for being one of the last public appearances discussing his cancer and his new charity. He talks about the three ways to make every day count, how to achieve goals and the importance of cancer research. The text highlight Valvano’s enthusiasm, persistence to fight and true love for life.
Children all around the world have cancer. Most of them survive because of treatment.Today more people are trying to find ways to cure cancer and every day we are getting better at finding the cure.
“Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” The words of the great Jimmy Valvano. Jimmy was a Men’s Basketball Coach at N.C. State University. He is one of the greatest coaches of all time. But he is also the man who delivered the “Never Give Up” speech at the ESPY Awards in 1993. This has inspired so many people. It’s the thought of Cancer that often brings Jimmy into mind. Stuart Scott is also very inspirational when it comes to cancer. A real inspiration is Mrs. Spatz. She has beat cancer 4 times. Over and over again, she has fought and beat cancer. She is now a teacher at Wyndcroft Private School in Pottstown. Although she is my mother, she creates inspiration for many
Each year, students orchestrate THON, a Penn State student-led philanthropic organization that raises money for Four Diamonds and Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. Throughout the year, students coordinate fundraisers and a 46-hour dance marathon to cover costs that insurance companies will not cover and attain funding for pediatric cancer research. At Penn State, I intend to be a part of this phenomenal organization. Within THON, I plan to continue my leadership through becoming a committee member. Fundraising is an essential component in any kind philanthropic organization; therefore, participating in canning weekends, becoming a committee member, and raising money. All of the money raised through THON benefits Four Diamonds at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital for groundbreaking research in pediatric oncology and medical support for families battling this devastating disease. Over the past 40 years, THON has raised over $127 million dollars to find a cure for pediatric cancer, the leading cause of fatal disease in children, which will impact the lives of those dealing with the effects of cancer and improve the overall quality of life for the
This experience allows me to donate my time, money, and commitment to impact the lives of patients taken by the effects of cancer. Participating in Relay for Life requires volunteer hours in and out of the event. This experience touched me in several ways; mainly because it showed me how many people struggle and continue to push through with this life-threatening disease. Learning how many people
According to the National Cancer Institute, everyday 43 kids are diagnosed with cancer, and in a year over 1,960 of them will die. That’s why the America Make a Wish Foundation grants a wish every 35 minutes to kids with life threatening diseases. They believe that in some cases, giving the kids their one heartfelt wish could be a real game changer. That's why, one way I’m going to pay it forward is sponsoring a wish.
Cancer. We all know someone who has suffered from it or has passed away because of it. Cancer now affects one in every three people, and is the second highest cause of death in the United States. For decades, the medical community has been on the hunt for a cure for cancer, and have been subjected to intense ridicule from the public because of a lack of progression toward a possible cure. In recent years, many scientists, doctors, researchers, and the general public have come to believe that the cure for cancer is being suppressed because of this lack of progress. Those who say it is suppressed claim that the drugs used to treat cancer actually cause cancer, making a patient sicker and sicker. As a result, the patients are forced to spend
In conclusion, I have a way to change the world. Even if it is subtle, it helps the cancer patients who suffer with damage to their
This will allow the organization to leverage those resources to gain public support for their cause and generate donations. The American Cancer Society developed several Goals for 2015. Among these goals were; reducing cancer incidence, reducing mortality from cancer, and measurably improving the quality of life. The organization’s ability to reach these goals is crucial to their long-term success, as these achievements will likely encourage individuals to view the organization as worthy of their
Imagine a commercial airplane crashed and some of the people on board were killed. It would be on every major news outlet the next day. Now think about how we have the equivalent of 8-10 planes crashing every day killing every person on board with cancer. So why have we had so much time to find a cure, but haven’t been able to come up with one yet?
The main plan is help with the cure of Pancreatic Cancer. Since Pancreatic Cancer is ranked one of the top deadliest cancers So I joined the Pancreatic Cancer
Why focus on treatment instead of finding a cure? It is simple; there is in profit in finding a cure for cancer. Desperate and eager to live, the typical cancer patient spends about $50,000 fighting the disease. Chemotherapy drugs are among the most expensive of all treatments, many ranging from $3,000 to $7,000 for a one-month supply. If the cancer industry allows a cure, then their patient base goes away (Dr. Mercola, D. (2011, January 1). Cancer: Forbidden Cures | Natural Cancer Treatment. Retrieved February 26, 2015, from http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2013/08/03/natural-cancer-treatment.aspx.) It makes more
Cancer is deadly, and people should do everything in their power to help find a cure. There is not a single person on this earth that has not been affected by cancer. Ghandi said, ‘be the change you want to see in your world.” Everyone should choose to “be the change” and choose to be a hero, even if it’s for someone you do not know.
Finding a better more efficient cure for cancer is something I would really like to accomplish in my life, being one to have gone through chemotherapy and feeling the side effects it makes me want to thrive that much more. With chemotherapy often does more negative affects than positive ones more doctors need to be exposed to this informational, the patients, and also the families of the patient. Therefore to expose this I will continue to give back to the people that have been affected by chemo and also do the best I can to find another way to cure cancer and other diseases that are cured with chemo.
I want to be able to give people a second chance at life, some haven’t even lived. Children are only a couple years old when they have to battle cancer. If we could cure cancer, it would open up do many doors for so many people. Parents have their children taken too soon, I don’t want to experience that pain they have felt, I don’t want anyone else to feel the pain they have felt seeing their children suffer. I want to solve this problem for my family and my future children. I want to solve this
