I feel that because of my global background I could contribute to the program in a way that is unique. I think that living and being a part of many different cultures has allowed me to have a view of the world that is different from others. Involvement in the Freshman Leadership Experience and Student Government Association would allow me to grow as a person while making the 2015-2016 school year memorable for myself and others. I want this school year to be the best for everyone and I feel that because of my ability to understand people of many cultures I would perform well at the tasks presented under the purpose of the SGA. Student life is one thing I love to be a part of because it is able to unite the many who attend Virginia Tech.
The most satisfied I have felt in my life was move in day. I identify this as the time in my life that I felt most satisfied because I had worked up until move in day to be at an academically respected university. I felt content that I had gotten to

I was seven at the time and felt most sad about having to leave my three best friends, my grandparents and cousins, and the majority of my toys. I did not register in my mind that no one at my new school would have any idea where Finland was or if they spoke "Finlandish" or "Finlish". I was unable to speak any English at the time and as one who was getting ready to enroll in an English school I became scared. This experience not only taught me how to speak English but how to interact with those who were from another culture. I learned how to embrace my Finnish side while adapting to the English way of doing things. I became aware of other cultures and learned that not everyone was like me. Still today, I remember the way I felt and try to make everyone feel included and accepted like the way I was. Even small things can make the day of a person who is new to the environment or one who is feeling
For me, the Student Government Association is not just a student organization. I believe that it is a place for enthusiastic students to share their thoughts and give input on the major aspects of USD. While our school is already amazing, there are still things that can improve. Because of my motivation and desire to make USD the best, I want to serve on SGA. SGA would provide me with the tools to help express not only my views, but also my peers as well.
I am a high school senior at Fair Park, looking forward to my first year at Jackson State University in the upcoming fall. My cumulative GPA is currently at a 3.6 average and anticipating to increase next semester. I would be considered the best person to receive a scholarship simply because I go the extra mile to assure my success. Although college is an extensive goal, it could be quite expensive. There is no better way to pay for college than by being awarded money for outstanding academic excellence.
School communities must have leaders that continually strive to learn, grow, and reflect on their experiences to make a significant impact. I plan to incorporate these same ideas when embarking on my new role as a supervisor. I have expanded and refined my experiences as a teacher since I embarked with cohort four on this leadership journey, and I feel equipped to be the effective leader that will truly make a difference in our schools. This year’s courses and high expectations from our faculty have provided me the opportunities to reflect on my strengths and weaknesses on a scale larger than that of the classroom. Our projects and meaningful discussions have helped shape my leadership philosophy.
Coming from a small town known as Plymouth, NC, resources weren’t always available. At my high school, my education was challenged every day. I overcame these challenges by striving to learn more and staying at the top of my class. When I think of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, I think of a serene place with ample opportunities. At UNCP, I believe I can turn my dreams into a reality. My unique ways of learning can bring a lot to the table. I’m not only a leader in the classroom, but I’m a leader in my community.
Leadership has always been a large part of my life, from being 8th-Grade Class Representative, Freshmen Class Officer, Sophomore Class President, and Key Club President, I was able to balance all of my extracurricular activities, take initiative in my position while learning and teaching new leadership skills to other students. In leadership, I was granted the opportunity to attend countless leadership conferences and see a variety of new motivational speakers along with learning numerous new skills from leadership camp. This year as Sophomore Class President, I was able to get more students involved in our class by holding a Sophomore Class competition which would help influence students in creating their own shirt design. After receiving
As a supportive B.A.S.E. Leader, I participated in Frog Hollow's Halloween Carnival, B.A.S.E. kick-off - an event in which B.A.S.E. leaders lead, support, and have fun with incoming grade eights, and B.A.S.E. lunches - a weekly event for grade eights that B.A.S.E. leaders supervise, and clean up afterwards. In fact, one of my most memorable experiences include the time when a shy kid, named Spencer, was eating all alone during a B.A.S.E. lunch that I was supervising. Hence, I decided to have a welcoming conversation with him, and introduce him to some of the other grade eights in the room because from my experience in the past as a shy kid, I would've greatly appreciated it if someone had introduced, and welcomed me to other kids as well. Communication is key to the success and failure of most everything that we do, and that
This summer I had an opportunity to attend the CORO Leadership program, which was different than the internship I had last year at the Jewish Community Federation. CORO is a eight week program that helps students become civically engaged and assume leadership roles in our community. Everyday we had a seminar day in which we learned different topics, such as how to give an elevator pitch, social enterprise and grant writing. For seven weeks, everything I learned tied up with the San Francisco cohort community action project because the skill sets we learned helped us organize our project. For example, our topic is homelessness and we had to invite over fifty people to our event. The elevator pitch came in handy when we had a minute to explain to a stranger what CORO is and what our goal for the community action project is. This was a good experience because this program enjoyed putting the students on the spot. I often had to work in a group to give presentations that we had about four hours to prepare for. For social enterprise seminar, my group was assigned the issue, homelessness. After four hours of brainstorming, we presented our idea which was to build more affordable housing. Although it was a long process, and many investors had questions for us to answer, at the end of the day my group won.
My leadership Mythology and influence originates from military training, reading and mimicking others using some but not all prominent biography’s relevant to people’s traits or actions, as well as proven doctoral guide develop by the us government. I would suggest that leadership and also the understanding of this process via written words continues to be overlooked. Over time I have gravitated to resembling other past great leader’s self-concepts that they might have lead, which telling the existence story or areas of leadership behavior. To illustrate the existence-story approach, in this short paper I offer my own personal leadership
Everyone knows about Yale University. It’s one of the best Ivy League schools in the country. It was an honor and a shock to be accepted. The past 3 semesters have been a dream, however this last one has been a nightmare. 3 weeks after winter break I was attacked by some invisible entity. I was walking home from my night class when I felt a breezy, not unusual for the campus during winter. I wasn’t thrown off until I realized the sky was a pinkish purple tint, being 8 o’clock at night the sky should be black and glowing from the light of the moon. Then I smelled a faint hint of lavender which was extremely odd because all the plants on campus are dead. The next thing I remember is being in bed rassling with something I couldn’t
I learned a lot at Saint Lawrence, and one thing that will help me is the amount of activity we do with others. One stands out, though, the one subject that makes me think about the difference I can make in the world. And that is my leadership class which I take for elective, it really helps me with connecting with others. My teacher for math, Mr. Wheeler really helps me with this. At the end, it all helps me to become a whole and active community member.
I have been on this earth for 21 years since the day of my birth and under your care, I want to let you know that I appreciate all the things you have done for me. I’m grateful that you are not simply my parents but also an irreplaceable friend. While I was a child I know, it was default for you to raise me because I was fighting with kids and being a stubborn kid. But you guys were always there for encouragement and counsel me. I recognize that without your counseling and encouragement I wouldn’t be he adult I’m today. However, I would like you to listen to my ideas.
My leadership has been evident in my ability to create and organize volunteer opportunities and in spearheading many local initiatives dealing with social equality. I have run a tutoring center for academically struggling middle school students, organized a winter clothing and baby item drive for domestic abuse, and created a debate club for high school and middle school students looking to improve their talents. Through all these endeavors, I had to take charge and use my leadership skills in organizing and planning events, donations, and volunteers. My ingenuity, enthusiasm, and commitment to these causes gave me the inspiration to lead these projects and to help my community. However, I do not use my leadership skills only for philanthropic
The purpose of this personal assessment is to devalue an incident in which I believe I performed my very best, within my leadership capability, according to organizational policies, and lawful regulatory compliance while protecting cultural competence and our organization from any legal repercussions. Business environment will continue evolve and it is pivotal to the success of the organization that all potential leaders acquire the fundamentals of understanding human behaviors within a multicultural atmosphere. Different situations will arise in which leadership will need to focus on the many aspects of one’s personal beliefs, culture as a whole, and productivity at the least. What is evident is the diversity within
At the age of eleven I was forced to move out of my homeland, Portugal and move to a completely new country. United State of America was now my new home, which came with a new language that I did not understand at all. As time went by I learned the language and I also started to realize things were very different, the culture, society, folkways and values.
