Personal Narrative: I Am And Eckerd College

If there is one aspect that mankind might be able to agree upon, it is how strange and just plain weird life is. Whether it is the moments when your shaky voice cannot leak out a sound without tears following closely behind, or the moments you realize you are smiling for no reason, and everything else in between, life is bizarre. Life has so many unexpected events and odd encounters that no one sees coming; life is a never-ending string of situational ironies stitched together. I am also beginning to realize the beauty that comes with life’s uncertainties and possibilities. There are many alluring places to see, people to meet, and experiences to be enjoyed in life. Because I am so young, there are countless amounts that I do not know and a myriad that I am unsure about. Yet, there are a few facets I am positive about: I love to write, I am infinitely grateful for how fortunate I am, and Eckerd College is the right school for me. I realized how opportune I am, as a Hispanic and African-American female, to born by chance in the United States simultaneously with the twenty-first century. For example, if I had been born a hundred years ago, I would not have even been able to vote. Likewise, if I had been born today, in 2016 Pakistan or Afghanistan, I would not even be treated like a human being. I am thankful to hold what millions of other woman do not, human rights. One of the reasons I aspire become a writer is to bring awareness to the woman around the world, who face injustice everyday such as rape, prostitution, imprisonment, abuse, and sacrifices for men’s crimes. Without a doubt, I am not going to squander what millions of women across the globe are fighting
