After our hour and a half drive that should a been two hours, we were in the city. Most of the lights in the sky were planes. Most of the skyscrapers managed to simultaneously look exactly the same and completely different. There was hundreds of cars on the road, and no one seemed to know how to drive. This was the city I
Her father’s words echoed through her head as one might hear a reverberation throughout the Taj Mahal. Continuous. Chilling. Having no control to distill the wavelengths until they mellowed out on their own accord. She tried to anatomize the depth of his phrase, more than dutifully needed but Davina needed to know why. Why did she need to keep an open mind and more importantly, who the hell was about to come bursting through that door. But then again, did it really matter in the first place. When she thought about it, the brunette could have laughed at the idea. That an unattributed, faceless figure had her panties in a bunch. Surely Dominic wouldn’t think to waste her time with venial diversions,
It's Friday, March 25 in the morning at about 7:00 am when my mom wakes all of us up to get ready to leave. On the way to Minnesota we were driving, but still in suamico, we stopped at a Kwik Trip gas station to fill up the tank. We all were thirsty so we got a water from the cooler in the back of the truck, but my brother Roy spilled his all over himself and on the seats.”Good thing it's just water.” My mom said. As we drove across the imaginary line splitting Wisconsin with Minnesota there was a big rock carved into the shape of Minnesota that said, “Welcome To Minnesota.” When we were on the highway we almost got into two major accidents, the first one was when we had an open lane ahead the driver to the right of us tried coming into our lane right next to us and put our left two tires
“Hey, kids, you wanna go for a ride in the car?” Mama yelled out the front door of the little white four room house our family of six lived in. We kids jumped up and down, yelling, “Yes, yes.” “Where we goin, Mama?” “Just get in the backseat of the car and you’ll see when we get there,” Mama replied as she scooted under the steering wheel of our beloved light gray Kaiser that was our only means of getting anywhere. Four kids crammed into the backseat, halfway sitting on top of each other and arguing the whole while over who’s going to get to sit next to the door. “First we have to stop and pick up Daddy from work,” Mama told us as she tried to calm the excitement we were all exhibiting, “then you‘ll find out where we’re goin.”
I was chilling in my bed room playing video games when I got a unexpected text message from my best friend Jarrod saying it’s going to be a night you won’t forget my brother. Although I was king of skeptical on why he texted me this early with a jigsaw riddle message; therefore, I was uncommonly curious moreover so that I ask him what you do mean and what is going down tonight? Nevertheless he respond with rich home girl is throwing a big mansion party; infact, everybody is invited it is going to be wild like that party movie project x my brother you coming yeah without a doubt I’m coming, good I’ll pick you up at nine thirty sharp tonight because Port Neches Grove is a drive. However time went by extremely fast that heard him pull up I wasn’t even ready so I just grab my red polo shirt and hat with my new tan brown timberland boots then finally headed out, so when we arrived cars was
Home is the beginning of one’s book. It is where your story begins, forms its characters, shows its purpose, and reveals its ora. This is how mine is written. Home is on the buzzing highway down a bumpy gravel road. It’s Brandon, Mississippi. It is the only home I’ve ever known. Home is the smell of homemade biscuits and tomato gravy on Saturday mornings. It is “Bless Your Heart” and “Yes Mam” and “No Sir”. The little bedroom in the back of a grey double-wide where Carrie Underwood songs played and where I learned to curl my hair and put on mascara. My cousins and I running around with mason jars, chasing the lightning bugs. Bar-B-q on the back porch and never meeting a stranger. It is the morals learned and the identity
At approximately 2300 hours I heard a loud crash somewhere outside of my apartment building. I went out on the patio, looked around outside and saw a car stopped by the east entrance gate. I went outside to the gates and saw a black SUV stopped in the driveway, just inside the entrance gate. The car had a flat right front tire and damage to the right front quarter panel. I then looked at the entrance gate and saw the gate had been broken off its hinges and stuck in the open position. The reflective cross bar was stuck in the down position.
I hide in his car laying down in the back seat. I hear his footsteps coming and then the key in the drivers door. He opens it and some light from the street lamps flood in but he still doesn't see me. Once he sits down I take the metal wire in my hands, holding it at each end, and wrap it around his neck. I pull tight so that he can't bring his head forward, its stuck against the headrest.
During the summer in June I finally went to worlds of fun. The trip there felt like the longest ride ever. We had five people in the car for three hours and it was June so it was a very hot day the day we drove up there. It was around 98 degrees outside and five people scrunched up in a car was bad. I could feel like droplets of sweat come from my head and drip down my face. I smelled the sweat in the car which just covered the entire car with funk. The windows in the car was rolled up and the A/C was on, and everyone was getting cranky. I could hear everyone in the car tossing back and forth trying to get comfortable but no one could. It was about as tight as a can of sardines.
A few days before my 16th birthday my dad asked if I wanted him to take me out to practice driving. As I jumped up screaming yes, he threw me the keys. I ran to the car as fast as I could, extremely excited. My hands were shaking from the amount of excitement and nervousness I was feeling as I sat behind the steering wheel. I started the car and turned to my dad for the next instruction. I noticed he looked a little nervous, but his eyes were filled with tears. I thought he can’t be that nervous about my first drive, can he? So I asked him if everything was okay and as tears rolled down his cheeks he assured me, “Everything is fine, it’s just hard to see you growing up so fast.” We hugged, cried, and then laughed together. That is
There is one major skill and experience that I discovered I had. It was junior year and I was in trigonometry taking a test, after each question I had an uneasy feeling in my gut. I felt that I was going to flunk the test and get an F on the test. The day passed and I learned that I got a ninety-percent on the test. From that day forward I learned that I should go with my gut. I learned that I could trust my mind with what I was doing. The knowledge is there, all I needed was to apply the knowledge. Throughout my eighteen years of living, I have learned that life is full of decisions. Learning that I can trust my knowledge to succeed, I have discovered that making decisions is starting to come easier to me. To myself, learning this skill is
If I were to be a monopoly piece I would be the race car. This is because the race car is very determined, competitive and has a fun personality. The race car is determined because in races you will always see each race car going for the crown and never giving up. This is just like me because in sports and other activities I try to never quit. Secondly, the race car is very competitive. Just like the race car I too, am very competitive. Whenever I play a game I always try to win, I just don’t really get this, “Play for fun” kind of thing. I’m always going for the gold. Lastly, I am a very fun person who loves to be active just like the race car. I always try to be in a sport every time of the year and I enjoy the sport just like a
It was a early morning maybe around 3. We had a rugby tournament. I couldn't sleep i was so nervous and scared thinking about everything bad that could happen but I managed to get some sleep. After we ate we headed out to the fields, they weren't so green just patches here and there but it was mostly dirt and dead grass which made me think of how much it would hurt to fall and scrape yourself. The guys in charge told us we had 30 minutes until we started our first game i was so nervous i felt sick. I was the only freshman on the U18 team so that was a lot of pressure on me.
On the road again for the third time in a month. In the middle of the hottest month, we were in a car. Only eight hours away from Tennessee we got pulled over by not just one cop but three cops for speeding. We sat there for at least two hours. Since we were from Franklinton, Louisiana it took a very long time.
Before I moved to Troy, I requested a pair of tires every two years. Now its every year due to a rocky road. Of course, I’m ashamed about complaining because a hard working mother with 10 kids should be enough to worry about.
We all have unforgettable days. Well heres mine, mine is when when I got my second truck. I wasn't going to get it but my grandma knew i liked it so she pulled through and bought it instead.
