I voted for Donald Trump. Before that, I voted for Senator John McCain. So, I have been voting Republican in recent presidential elections. My parents were Republican voters and I voted Republican until I left home and joined the military. I vote for the nominee I think should be president and not as a staunch party supporter. I research the issues of all the nominees to be fair. I voted Democrat in 1980 because I researched the issues of both parties. But, my information was biased from the mostly Democrat party information available to me. When I was preparing to vote in the 1980 election I wanted to start with all the facts and get the views of both the Republican and Democrat parties.
I liked both the party’s nominees in the 1980 election

I researched all the nominees and wanted to vote for the best nominee in 2016. I did the background checking online. The best way to get information is to watch the television and read about the issues online. I studied the issues in my Political Science 220 course that fall. I used that information to focus my opinions. I have many friends that vote Democrat. Unfortunately, some are Democrat party supporters. The fact that Donald Trump owned expensive tall buildings made me listen to what he had to say. There are many tall buildings in the United States with owners who have great concerns after the September 1, 2001 terrorist attacks. I own and read books about history and politics often and am well informed in political issues. I have a love of Journalism too. I have completed five law courses in Coursera online school. Prior to the election I completed a summer school course in History 104, named U.S. History 1850 to Present, at Rio Salado Community College. In the fall, I studied a Political Science 220 course named U.S. and Arizona Constitutions, at Estrella Mountain Community College. During the 2016 election, I was surprised to learn in Political Science 220, that I was a conservative Republican. Some of my views change from time to time. I felt ready to place my vote for Trump after considering all the nominees and …show more content…
Voting straight ticket is bad voting. I am not a partisan voter, because I change my county of residence often when I move. If my right-wing choices make me a Conservative, then I accept that. When my views relax slightly my ideological standing will make me a Moderate. I like to consider myself a Moderate, but my recent choices say otherwise. The major issue is abortion, but other issues like gun laws effect my standing too. Getting all the facts and making an informed decision is what many American’s try to do. Having many choices is good for deciding the direction of the country. I like to get my views represented with the candidate of my choice. The problem of my name on the Republican party prospective donation callers list has not stopped. I have already received two letters since March 2017. It has no effect on my voting choices. What I like about voting is that I now vote from home by mail. If you vote by mail your vote is counted while the campaigning is going on. There are no long lines or driving to the local polls, which I did for the 2008
A majority of Republicans want a candidate with new ideas rather than experience and proven record. I have researched about why you should be a republican and the definition of a republican is, a person who is supportive of the Republican Party(Victoria . . . Says). Being a part of the Republican party is important because they believe strongly in the educational program which determines the learning process of each subject in all stages of education, the party believes in lowering taxes and spending money wisely, and are pro-life on the issue of abortion(Victoria . . . Says). These are things that are very important to the world.
The archetype of the journey is seen in Charles Frazier’s novel Cold Mountain, most clearly through experience Inman has wandering back to Cold Mountain. The journey archetype sends the hero in search of some truth to restore order and harmony to the land. The journey often includes the series of trials and tribulations the hero faces along the way. Usually the hero descends into a real or psychological hell and is forced to discover the blackest truths. Once the hero is at his lowest level, he must accept personal responsibility to return to the world of the living. Inman’s trip fits this description very well in some ways and not in others. It could be said that Inman’s search for truth is his desire to be back home. He has been
I fell in love with politics at the age of 10, the year was 2004, and I liked John Kerry because he shared my name. I also supported him because my father, at the time, was supporting George W. Bush and I was a rather antagonistic child. Over time I’ve certainly become more nuanced in the candidates I support, but that year began a lifetime journey into a field that is ever changing, ever competitive, and that impacts so many lives.
Every person may not have the same level of these components, but it is present. Everyone will not know everything about the candidate they plan to vote for, they only know the high points of their campaign. According to the LA TIMES “It's a rare voter who carefully reads a candidate's position papers on every conceivable topic. Instead, we typically vote based on a candidate's stance on a subset of topics, assuming there will be a certain consistency on other topics…Another conscious component of political decision-making is voting for experience or competence, rather than a platform. This is so common that one study found that candidates judged to look more competent had won elections 68% of the time.” (Sapolsky) Especially, with how the media reports news about a particular candidate, they only report the parts of the campaign that the public would consider controversial. This bias also depends on the news station you are choosing to watch because the news reported is often swayed to reflect the views of a certain political party. For example, FOX NEWS is known for having republican views, MSNBC is known for having liberal views, and CNN is known for having democratic views. The question now becomes what is the threshold of irrationality, bias, ignorance or immoral belief that deems someone as a bad
Since I am not a citizen of United States, I have never voted before, I am not registered to vote, I did not vote in the primaries in March. I do not plan to vote in the general election this November because I do not have the right to vote in U.S.; however, some of my friends plan to vote in the general election. People around me are somehow divided between the Democrat Hillary Clinton and the Republican Donald Trump. If I could vote I would vote for the Democrat Hillary Clinton because she supports gun control, she wants to fight against systemic racism in education & employment, she inspires American women to fight for their rights, and because she is really qualified, she has served as secretary of state, senator
Some of my family is unable to vote due to immigration status, but they still held strong political opinions. In the late 1890’s to early 1900’s my great-great grandfather paid his “Poll-Tax” and encouraged those he knew to pay it so that they could vote, too. As Mexican-Americans in Texas they wanted to have equal opportunities for all regardless of race and origin. Trying to help establish equal opportunities for all people my great-great grandfather worked to advance and promote an organization that is still in existence today, LULAC. The fundamental beliefs of the Democratic Party were aligned with what they were working so hard for. Looking back at some the past Presidential elections my family has only supported the Democratic party. Some of the candidates my family mentioned they supported were John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and most recently Hillary Clinton. These candidates gained our family support because of our belief that the Democratic party stands for helping the working class, the laborers, equality for all citizens and help to create jobs and programs for the American
Just as parents influence their children to learn a second language, I was raised to learn the language of politics. I soon became intrigued about our democracy and learned about our political system on the media, in school, and from my parents. After learning both sides of politics and obviously being influenced by my parents, I choose to be associated with the political right’s beliefs. To this day, I have strong opinions on immigration policies, the second amendment, healthcare, foreign policy, and many other issues. On the other hand, there is one issue that makes
Then my junior year of high school is when my beliefs and opinions started to take shape. I became extremely fascinated with politics and landed my first internship with republican State Senator Guy Reschenthaler. I have realized that younger generations follow in the footsteps of their parents in political views but I was different, my parents are both democrats and I am a republican.
Once may not get the president he or she elected for, or the laws they wanted passed, but the Republican and Democratic Parties all have one mindset: ‘Make America a better country.” Therefore, nothing can go wrong with voting. Voting is a privilege that everyone should exercise because there is no wrong decision; everything is mean for the good of the country.
I am really glad to hear that you are the Republican nominee for president. I believe that you are exactly what we need to “Make America Great Again.” My family and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you and your family speak at the Republican Convention.
America is at a crossroads. Who should we vote for - the people the parties want or for our own candidate? Let 's say you decide to vote for Donald Trump but the Republican Establishment says not to vote for him and to vote for someone they endorse. Now you may be thinking, “I am a Democrat and wouldn’t vote for Donald Trump anyway.” This also applies to Bernie Sanders. The Democratic Establishment does not want Bernie Sanders to be President either. America is left with the choice of giving in and doing what the parties want or making a stand and voting for someone the parties will not
This year the presidential elections will take place at the beginning of November, and there are lots of people wondering how this is going to end. Some candidates for these presidential elections may not have been the best choice for their respective parties, but the one that really shouts, “I should not be here” is Mr. Donald Trump. His personality and actions are not the correct ones for a president because of his temper and comments against other cultures. On the other hand, we have Mrs. Clinton who is a more competent candidate; she has more experience on the field of politics than Mr. Trump who has none at all, which are the reasons why she is a better choice as a candidate and as president of the U.S.
Some voters cast their ballots based on the emotions such as trust rather than on the candidate's experience or policy. These voters lean toward those candidates who appear to share the voter's concerns on the political issues at the time. They vote for a candidate that appears to be honest and have integrity (Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes, 2011, p.196)
Students need healthy, nutritious food choices to fuel their mind and bodies. Students experiencing food insecurity either don’t have enough food to eat or are eating a poor, nutrient- deficient diet. Either way, poor diets can affect the student’s physical and mental health which can lead to interruptions in their learning. Universities need to gather statistics on the portion of their student population affected by food insecurity and work towards a remedy. Not only does the student benefit from university interventions, but the university benefits by graduating students that are healthy, well-educated and have an instilled sense of the community involvement needed to invest in the future.
Text has always been an integral part of visual arts and imagery. It has influenced and shaped the art scene all over the world through the various ways it engages with it. The first way text and art interplay is the use of text to come up with the subject matter of the artwork like for example the use of the bible and its stories as the subject of a painting. This somehow seems like a direct connection between text and art. However, there are many other ways in which art and text relate less directly. The term “visual text” is a very obvious example of these relations. Visual text is a text that makes its meaning with images and that can be “read” or decoded like written texts. Visual texts are often carefully constructed by their composers.
