Hello Coach Carroll, Its Harrison Mckinlay Again and as the indoor track season has come to a close and outdoor track is beginning to start up i figured i would give you and update As of one week ago I did decide to attend Bryant university. As the indoor track season came to a close you could say I ended on a bitter sweet note. My team and I went to states and during the finale days of the season i made the executive decision to run in the 4/800 meter relay rather an open event. My decision mainly revolved around trying to achieve the school record and seeing how the record is rather impressive. Though as the meet unraveled my team did not put forth great effort. Our team time was a 8:46, however my individual split was an 2:05 which for
The highs and lows of competition have constructed in me into an entirely new athlete. My first year of track and field and I made it to Far East by qualifying in the 4x800 relay. I guess you could call it beginner's luck. I would call it dedication and confidence. After almost a week of running and jumping events, the time has come to announce the winners of the banners. With the awkward silence sitting and waiting for the results to be told along with the rest of the crowd, the announcer finally broke the silence. “The D2 Girls Track Champions of 2015 is Zama American High.” This one night as emotional as an groom seeing his bride walk down the aisle knowing that she is all his. Have you ever wanted to take a moment and breathe in the air of accomplishing your
Coach Drew Sullivan’s first recollection of a man desiring to play with his meaty ass happened after being drafted to the famed NFL Wranglers. His Mom, elder Sister and collegiate teammates were all aglow with pride. After the numerous press conferences, Drew Sullivan was requested to see the team’s Athletic Physician for his final medical exam.
The day College of Faith football team played, Missouri S&T was in the fall of 2015, it was cold. At the time me and my brothers on the football team came off a big lost to the Cougars of St. Francis. The St.Francis Cougars Are located in Fort Wayne, Texas. They are a very big school, the cougars were undefeated the whole year round. After the 65-0 lost to the cougars, we the College of Faith, had a game against Missouri S&T. I felt like a raging superstar on field, I had 8 tackles, 1 big blindside sack and 1 pass deflect, it was very cool and also sunny. Unfortunately, we got demolish, the whole team quit.We lost 64-0 Football taught me to value my life more and be more ongoing to learn new things.
Could we get to the ball? If we don’t get the ball they well recover it. It was one of our first games in September. Our record was one, one and one. That means we won once, lost once, and tied once. It was at Unity Field (Home). We were started at 4:30.
It was a dark thursday night in April. The sky was clear enough to see the moon shining brightly along with many small circular diamonds. I’m in a dark blue Avalanche, being driven to a baseball diamond. I play for the MIlwaukee Brewers on a little league level. It’s my last game of the season, and I can’t wait for the umpire to say the words “Play Ball” (which states that the game has begun).
I had completed all my races the day before and was a spectator when the coach asked me to be a substitute in the relay. As the youngest runner, I was not as fast as the older girls, but I was determined to help in whatever way I could. The coach rearranged and built the team around me, placing each runner strategically according to her strength. I was good at getting out of the block and running the curve, the second leg runner had the
Sunday, November 3, 2013 is a day that I remember so vividly. It was the day of my first ever Patriots game. I grew up surrounded by Patriots fans, my mom, my
“Final call girl’s four by eight-hundred-meter relay” called the official. The Ontario Track girl’s four by eight-meter team trooped up to lane one, in unison. I would not have wanted to be racing with anyone else but my relay family. We had trained all season for this one race. Every workout, asthma attack, tear, and shin splint has lead up to this one race to break a twenty year old school record. As we jogged with the official from the bullpen to the starting line, the crowd had uproars of excitement for the athletes. An immense smile grew across my face, not only from the ecstatic crowd, but from the anticipation to race. I approached the starting line, in the first lane, while my teammates arrayed along the fence with the other second,
Back in the eighth grade, this man was just a coach to me. Over the following four years, Coach Melin became a significant person in my life. Bruce Melin, a seventy-year-old man, stood about five foot ten. He had an ever-lasting contagious smile. Also, he wore glasses and you could always find him wearing some type of sabre track apparel. This devoted man spent numerous hours down at the track devoting his time to young athletes like myself. He had quotes and jokes of the day that gave the sprinters some motivation before practice. Coach Melin has left a lasting impact on me.
I ran indoor track and I ran decently. Then outdoor track came and I was practicing for the 4x1 relay. I was running and I guess I had been putting too much stress on my hip flexors. I sprained my right hip flexor and i was not able to train or run at any of the first 3-4 meets. After i had been cleared I started getting back to the routine and working back up to get back in shape. After I missed the first few meets they already had people running in the races I was supposed to run in. As a comeback race to just get out there I run an 800m
My mind was set to pursue a career in coaching after my undergrad. Leading into my first year as college football coach, I relied mainly on my personal and prior experience during college as a football player. I wanted to provide the players with support and guidance I did not experience having as a player. During my first year as an assistant coach, I managed to influence some players following my main objective in my first year as a coach. Going into my second year, I was promoted with my own position group, running backs (RB), to coach without having to shadow another position coach as an assistant. I was excited, passionate, and overwhelmingly ready to guide this group of young men into a spiritual, motivational direction using my personal experience and my prior knowledge of football to support my coaching goals and objectives.
Since the 7th grade, I have and continue to push and strive to become the most elite athlete I can be. In middle school, I ran the 100m, 200m, and 400m relay, and the main objective of middle school track for me was to not only place, but to also gain experience before entering high school track. As my high school track career began, track and field was not as much fun and games as it was preparing for future track events. One of the most challenging moments as a freshman was being able to transition from the 100m to the 400m. When most high school athletes think of the 400m, they feel it's one of the most gruesome races to run, and it is. Although I had zero experience running the 400m, I was more concerned doing what was beneficial for
In a much greater scheme, I have taken the lessons learned from track and field into my volunteer experiences. Through the organization Recreation Experiences, I worked with a team of volunteers to dig holes that would help install new septic systems to numerous families. I’ve been able to help service families in need of new septic systems who cannot afford to pay for the job to be done. Doing my part on a team was as important there as it has been on the track. I can absolutely trace my success back to humble beginnings in track and
My family was financially challenged. I had a regularly under or un-employed husband and two kids at home. An acquaintance submitted our family for consideration to the BCS program. We were accepted and gleaned weekly to supplement our household expenses. I was involved in the program several years, during which time BCS grew in leaps and bounds. Eventually, my home life changed and I no longer needed the supplements BCS had provided. Therefore, I moved over to let someone else get on board.
It all started in 7th grade, our football team was at the time undefeated and we were in our second to last game. We were up by quite a bit and our team was feeling sanguine, our coach didn’t put too much thought into it, and called a run up the middle with our star running back Michael Lundy. He Got the ball and ran for Three short yards then suddenly tripped over a pile of angry, impassioned, irritable teenage boys. Michael had landed wrong and you could see by his expressions he was hurt, his dad came on the field and helped carry him off. We were forced to continue the game without Michael, which wasn’t all that bad because there were only three minutes left in the game. We the Philomath 7th grade braves had won our second to last game
