At the age of five, I was very shy and timid, but one way I feel I have overcame this was joining the Cobb Busy Badger 4-H Club. I joined 4-H when I was five years old and have been involved ever since. Through the years of 4-H, I have made life long friends, developed public speaking skills, and most importantly I have been able to give back to the community in many ways. As a member of 4-H, I volunteer at the local food pantry, adopt-a-family during the holidays, rake leaves in the fall, and play BINGO at the local nursing home. The leadership qualities and values I have gained by being in 4-H are something I take great pride in and will use in the future to help reach my goals.
Throughout high school 4-H and FFA were both very important to me. These organizations fueled my love for agriculture and ultimately were instrumental in deciding my college major. I am an Agriculture Communication major with a Food Science minor. I love and communication goals, and objectives to others and I this is why public relations is the dream job for me. I am very interested in the sheep industry and love helping my nine year old sister and other livestock exhibitors with their show animals. If I am not with friends, working on school work, involved in organizations, you can
I’m involved in Pet Club, National Honors Society, Medical Club, Interact Club, 4H, I swim and last year, I was on the golf team. One thing I love the most in this world, is 4H. I was president of my club for two years, vice president before that and secretary and historian; so I’ve held office five out of the six years since I been in my club.
My most important 4-H accomplishments include joining the Illinois State 4-H Youth Leadership Team (YLT), being chosen to serve on the Illinois Farm Bureau Youth in Education in Agriculture Committee 4-H representative (YEA), and county awards I have earned. Serving on YLT was a goal of mine ever since I went to the Junior Leadership Conference (JLC) my 7th and 8th grade years. On the team I have met some of the best people I now can call friends while representing 4-H across the state and impacting 4-H members too. Being apart of the team I have helped plan and execute two JLCs assisted with SFI-4-H training, worked at the Illinois State Fair, and represented 4-H at the University of Illinois Salute to Ag Day tailgate and football game. As
On one nice evening roughly 2 years ago my mother was on the computer looking at things on kohls.com when she asked “Hey, want anything at Kohls?” I replied to this question saying “ Sure I will look around.” Then I started to look around on the site, and that’s when I found it. The most glorious hat I have ever seen in my whole existence. There is this pattern that is kind of zig zaggy yet doesn’t distract you from the greatness of the team logo, the Wisconsin Badgers. Ever since I have received this sublime Wisconsin Badgers hat in the mail 3-5 buisness days later, I have worn it. Whether the badgers are playing, I go outside, or I just don’t feel like fixing my hair, I have it with me and it is a part of me.
I enrolled in the Ace's 4-h Club as a little ten year-old boy. Throughout the past nine years, 4-H has grown me into the leader I am today. In my early years of 4-H, I served as a recreation leader and treasurer of our 13 member club. In my high school years, I have served my club as a Vice President for two years, and taking over the role of President for this past year. Holding these higher officer positions forced me to talk for the entire meeting, discussing business and planning acitvities with my fellow club members. I have enjpyed going to club meetings and activities for the past nine years. At the county level, I have been involved in woodworking, photography, and home-improvement projects, along with showing pigs and cattle. I have
In fact, it was the same tour I went on in 4-H as a fourth grader, so I knew what they felt when I saw the amazement on their faces. Being a member shapes students as an individual and is for anyone who wants to make a difference. As a member students are blessed with the opportunities to come together and help others; the opportunities include: raising money for charities, helping food ministries, helping animals, and introducing the younger generation to 4-H and FFA, which go hand in
The final mast of school and community involvement was catalyzed when I joined Key Club as a freshman. Finding a passion for service and leadership, it rapidly became my primary focus in deepening my high school experience. Key Club inspired me to search for further opportunities for leadership and involvement, leading me to join Student Council, Relay for Life, and so forth. Through my various executive positions, I have not only improved my own character and qualities, but also inspired others around me to do the
Mr. Mike Joyner, the assistant commissioner in the Department of Agriculture of Florida, said “4-H is a great way for youth of all ages to get involved and educated on agriculture, what is going on in the government, and how to make healthy decisions. The club helps you use your 4-H's to go out and help the world. I think that this is probably one of the best youth organizations to have your kids involved in. As a father, I really encourage mine to be involved in some way.” Those 4-H's being head, hands, health, and heart, are impacting communities small and large. Each of the members in 4-H have gained excellent qualities that have helped them prepare for the future. Learning about science, citizenship, and health, has helped these members gain an understanding and appreciation for those involved in agriculture and engineering, the government officials, and not only their health, but for others as well. “This club has helped me expand my capabilities in so many areas like people skills, my responsibility, and time management has become a major key. Not to mention that it has given me a ton of opportunities that look awesome on college applications,” said Grace Ergle with a little sarcasm in her voice. “I think being in 4-H even helped my brother get into University of Florida's agricultural program!” Our youth of society today can become more enriched with education and engaged in our community through the work of 4-H. With the skills gained from this club, many public service officials, businessmen, and entertainers have already prospered in the country. The youth today, now far more advanced in technology, can prosper so much more and help our country and world to civility, and equality amongst us all. There are no qualifications to participate in the club, just a want to learn more. If you are want to attend a 4-H meeting, or get involved, their website, http://www.4-h.org/ , has countless
Ever since I started school, I had always wanted to be involved in the community in some way whether it be at school, home, or in my town. To help the benefit of others and learn more about responsibility, I try to volunteer as much as I can. I volunteer throughout the year for The National Wild Turkey Federation (which I became a committee member of), and for Feed My Starving Children. Volunteering for the Archery Club and different volleyball clinics are also activities I enjoy. Volunteering is a passion of mine because it is a way that I can help others and give back to my community.
Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in various clubs and organizations to help me become a leader in my community. At Auburn High School I took on the role of being a Publicist officer for National Technical Honors Society the first two consecutive years that it became a part of our school. I gained a lot of leadership experience through this club. Implementing a new organization is never easy and takes a lot of hard work and dedication from the leaders of the club. By being a part of a very helpful, dedicated and motivated team, we helped affiliate all the eligible members into the club and in turn helped introduce this new club to the school. As publicist my role in helping the club grow was crucial; I helped in publicizing the clubs various projects and involvement.
Throughout high school, I have participated in numerous school sports and activities. Cross county had a tremendous impact on my life and the lessons I have learned from the sport I will perpetually cherish. Another activity I have been a part of for three years is yearbook. I am the senior editor of the yearbook and have, thus, learned to engage my leadership skills. Additionally, choir is an activity I am passionate about. Singing is an escape from the chaos of my day and I revel in the joy it brings me. Furthermore, my two friends and I brought forth the idea of a cross country ski club at our school, and we initiated its formation.
Freshman year during my lunch period, I had decided to participate in technology squad to assist those unfamiliar with software applications such as PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Google Docs. Also I was responsible to assign laptops out to students who needed them. When I heard of EMT Club, I automatically joined because I wanted to learn more on what it takes to become an EMT. I handed out candy grams to raise money for the ambulance corps and got to listen to current medical technicians that provided an overview of their responsibilities. In addition I attended a first aid class and got certified, so I can lend a helping hand in an emergency. Outside of school in the Fair Lawn Jewish Center Religious School, I helped students learn the hebrew alphabet and planned activities that would keep them engaged.
In second grade I became a member of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). This is a sports membership organization dedicated to 10-pin bowling. This group has helped me to meet new people while learning a new sport. To this day I am still a member of the USBC and plan to be for many years to come. I have been a straight-A student my entire life and try my hardest to succeed in everything.
My freshman year I was introduced to the Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. I wanted to be as involved as possible, especially since cancer has taken the lives of many family members and friends, so I became team captain for both my freshman and sophomore year and raised a total of about $5,000. This year I have taken the position of Survivor Chair Shadow so that I can take the position of Survivor Chair my senior year, and be even more involved. Just by taking part in this amazing fundraiser I am serving my community, building my character, and demonstrating strong leadership skills. The personal gratification from making a
My free time has consisted of volunteering. Unlike most children, majority of my time was spent engaging in one organization or another. From ten to eighteen, I was involved in 4-H through the local, county, and state level. Along with showing livestock, I learned public speaking, leadership skills, and a dedication to serving others. At the end of my 4-H career I served as president for two years, as well as planned and executed many community services for the Helotes 4-H club. Once I began high school I joined the Future Farmers of America (FFA), Younglife, the Texas
