The day began with an abrupt start. My alarm went off, and I was wondering to myself why I had set it to wake me up so early. I then remembered, today was the day I was finally able to meet and take home my new chinchilla named Luna. On the way to the home that had my soon to be chinchilla, me and my father stopped for breakfast at Chick-Fil-A. When we arrived at the house, I stood there for about five seconds before knocking on the door. They didn’t answer at first, so I knocked again, harder, and then saw the handle start to move. My stomach filled with butterflies as I watched the door slowly open. The face that greeted was one of a two year old, and as I looked up I saw her father standing over her. They invited us in and told us all
The restaurant had two drive-thru lanes, both opened. There were seven cars between my car and the point where the order was placed and I placed my order through a speaker box. I spent 12 minutes and 33 seconds in line before I reached the Order Point to place my order. Within 13 seconds of arriving at the speaker box to place my order, I was greeted in an enthusiastic tone. The Order Taker received my order in a friendly and professional manner, repeated my order back, and provided the price. After saying "thank you" she cheerfully responded, "My Pleasure!" The associate at the window and that handed me my order smiled, made good eye contact, and asked, "Welcome to Chick-fil-A! How are you?" After saying "thank you" to the Cashier, he responded
At the beginning of this school year, I began to realize something. I realized that my high school years were coming to an end. This was an eye opener for me. I didn't know what to expect of my last year nor what I wanted to do after high school. I then began looking for a job. So I applied to Chick-fil-a. I waited patiently several weeks for a call, but received no call whatsoever. I patiently waited for a new opportunity to come along. Until finally, I was given an opportunity at an electrical shop. On the first day of work I was introduced to the staff and learned the procedures of what needed to be done. My job now was to maintain the shop clean and to keep all materials organized as well as other tasks that helped me grow with my skills.
My mother and father sat downstairs and talked, Bella sitting with them, while I folded my clothes and put them into my chipped white wooden dresser. I could hear them murmuring between themselves, but I couldn’t hear specific words. My mother came up the stairs about ten minutes later as I was putting the last of my clothes into my dresser. Her five feet two-inch frame stood just inside my door with a Mona Lisa smile. Her eyes were sad and I could tell she was trying to hold back tears. I was confused as to why, and I was going to ask what was wrong, but she told me that my father had something he wanted to talk to me about.
After the couple shook hands with dad and the real estate agent, they got into their minivan and drove away. I stood on top of the staircase and eavesdropped and felt like I had been punched in the stomach when I heard the news. I overheard that the couple was ready to move in as soon as possible because the wife was expecting a set of twins, plus they already had an older child. While dad showed his enthusiasm about getting rid of the house, I felt sick. Whenever the agent suggested to dad that we should start packing, I felt weak and went to lie down on my bed.
It was a typical Wednesday morning. I was getting ready for school and I was going to be wearing my very authentic shoes that I bought from Nordstrom. Today was going to be an amazing day because my family said we could go hiking after school. So I got ready and head downstairs to eat my breakfast. Today I had pancakes with some strawberries on the side. I ate my breakfast with delicacy because I just got my braces but I was so hungry, I basically devoured all my food. Then the time 7:45 am beeped on my watch which meant it was time for me to head to school. I picked up my backpack and catched the bus.
Marisa, my cousin's wife, asked for me to take care of her daughter since I was the oldest. We walked through a long, narrow hallway till we arrived to a white door which was in half, the lower half was locked but the upper half was open. I got closer to find her daughter, Adamaris sitting on the floor playing around with some toys. Adamaris turned as soon as her mom opened the door so I could go in. She tried to wiggle around me to get out, but
I have been to many of your establishments before, and honestly love QT more than the other gas-stations that you are in competition with; but the food recently has been getting worse and worse. My brother, recently ate one of your pizzas and got food poisoning. That in itself is very disappointing and infuriating. I like to think I can choose QT over anywhere else, but with the food becoming worse, I do not know if it is safe. I am hoping that you can address this problem and make the food safe again so I can continue to be a loyal
I open the door and hear a faucet running. I go into the kitchen and see my dad washing his hands, I see that same color that I saw in the forest, red. I stop and look at my dad and said quietly, “Dad, What were you doing?” he looked at me and responded “What, I can’t hear you.” I began to take a deep breath and then my voice began to raise, “What did you do when you got home!” He looked at me and grinned, that same grin I saw yesterday last night. I felt my body shake and then I lifted my head and saw he was drying his hands and begun to walk over towards to
I just wanted to say that I was not impressed with the service at Taco Bell, and you are doing a really bad job on training your workers.
Ellie and I lay in our beds, neither one of us knew what to say. In the other room, our host parents were arguing. We didn’t know what about, but we knew it was serious. Then we heard a “THWACK” followed by silence. Ellie and I sat up in our beds and looked at each other, I could tell she was as scared as I was. “Was that? Did he just?” she asked me. Then the arguing started back up again. We calmed back down until we heard it again. “THWACK” We knew then, the noise we heard, was him beating her. We got up, our hearts racing; neither of us knew what to do. We got our nerves together to go get help. When we opened the door to our room we saw the children sitting on the couch crying out for their mother. I could see the fear in their face and I knew something needed to change.
I rushed out of my bedroom to greet my mom, my dad and my brother Eric when I heard the garage door open. When they entered the house my mom was talking. There was a sad tone in her voice. I ran back to the hallway and listened.
My daughter and I were at the cafe. It was closing time. She and I sat at a table outside while Jane closed the register, chatting about the upcoming middle school dance. My wife joined us and locked the doors. "Wanna come with me?" she asked, patting the bag of money in her hand awaiting deposit at the bank across the street. Sally jumped up, eager, no doubt, to get one of the suckers from the candy dish that the bank kept at it's counter. "I'll warm up the truck," I said, fishing my keys from my pocket. My wife nodded in approval and walked me to the truck, kissing me on the cheek through the window after I entered, and again on glass after I rolled it up. They headed down the length of the truck and I turned to check the mirror when I saw it. A truck barreling down the road heading straight for my wife and daughter. I screamed her name and threw the door open when the hand that wasn't there was suddenly jerked to the opposing side of the truck, holding me in place as I kicked and screamed. The kiss on the glass of the window was the last I ever got, and the hand never let go
The wind whistled through the dark night as I waited for my mom’s car to pull into the school parking lot. Soon, it was just me under the glow of the gym door light. I called my mom. No answer. After dialing his number, my dad’s voice came across my phone saying he would be there in a few minutes. Eventually I was climbing into the truck covered in concrete dust, evidence of my dad’s long day at work.
As Peter cautiously knocked on the black and gold door, he listened as the same deep voice, said the same response, “one second!” He got chills, that ran throughout his entire body, but felt hot like the feeling Peter had felt many years ago. He feared his father once again. Wondering what would happen at the very second when his father opens the doors. He had felt a feeling of fear, like the one he would get when his dad came home drunk. The one similar he used to feel. The one Peter has not felt ever again, until this very moment.
It was a sunny yet cloudy day, the ozone and earthy smell from the upcoming rain wafted continuously through my nose; these type of days were and still are my favorite. I had a feeling that today was going to be one of those special days, everything was going smoothly. My mother didn't wake me up at the crack of dawn to wash and clean up, I didn't have any chores to do today, and my family was coming over for a Saturday dinner. The biggest surprise of the day was when my uncle invited me to tag along to go shopping with him, something he rarely, if ever, did because it meant going to the city that was bustling with people. Uncle said that he was going to take me to meet someone “special.” Based on how swell the day was going I could tell that it was going to get even better.
