In a small town of Oakhurst CA, there is a place that holds a place in my heart. An outdoor camp school, filed with 300 year old redwood trees and Native American history. But my favorite part about Calvin Crest is that while we learn about nature; we also learn about God and all the wonderful things he has put on his earth just for us. Even though it’s only a few miles from home, it feels like a different world. The first time I went to Calvin Crest was in 2012, with my school; Fresno Christian. We had to get to the school by 6 a.m. and believe me there was no one ready to be there. Once everyone got there we were assigned to different cars and sent on our way! It was about a 45 minute drive from Fresno to Calvin Crest. Most of us got more sleep in the car, while others had Starbucks and sang songs on the radio. When we arrived we unloaded all of the luggage and were sent to our cabins, all my good friends were in mine so I didn’t have a problem. Then …show more content…
We learned many interesting facts about the Native Americans and how they survived out in the wild for hundreds of years. We also learned how to survive in the wilderness if we ever got lost; using nature and whatever we had on us as tools to keep us alive. By the end of the week, a lot of us didn’t want to go home. We had become a family, with members that you don’t like and annoy you but you still love them anyway. By that time my ankle was pretty swollen and painful but I didn’t fuss about it. The last night was crazy hair night, and we had so much gel and color in our hair we could run a circus. Since my hair was short the girls in my cabin Mo hawked it. It was a lot of fun and many laughs were shared as memories filled the room. Once we were home, it wasn’t the same. I was lonely; I missed all the people I thought were annoying and the people who were good friends. The leaders I missed a lot, they were so strong and always ready to help
Weslaco is the place where I grew up, I was raised here, I have friends here everything for me is here in Weslaco.
On Sunday, August 2, 2015, approximately 1805 hours, I was dispatch to Magnolia Assisted Living, 964 South Main Street, for a suspicious person report. Upon my arrival I met with the complainant, Ms. St John. St John stated a suspicious person had urinated in the back of the building and stumbled across the street. St John stated the subject walked across the street towards the Pavilion, 949 South Main Street. St John advised me he was a white male with a brown shirt, blue jeans and brown hair
I would first like to say nice to meet you and thank you for your service in the Air Force. In your post I noticed you mentioned that you are a duck hunter and that you also garden in you off time. I was wondering when you first took an interest in those two things and how long have you been doing it for. As an LSU Tigers fan who did you find more entertaining to watch this year the football team or the basketball team with all the hype surrounding Ben Simmons. Another question I feel the need to ask is what is your favorite Louisiana dish to eat and/or cook? It been a while since I have been to Louisiana and enjoyed the food but it always nice to hear what the locals say are best things to eat from there.
I believe that women are just as competent as men and should be treated equally.
It was a Friday night, at the Peoria Civic Center. I was there for the Heartland Heroes Concert. This was a fundraiser for the American Red Cross. I went to the concert with my mom, Ashley, and her mom. RaeLynn, Scotty McCreery, and another local girl country singer was there. The concert was incredible. The concert ended at about 10:00 P.M. We all went out to dinner after the concert. We all decided on Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. When we arrived at Buffalo Wild Wings they told us we could sit out on the patio or the bar. The main dining area was full. We decided to sit out in the patio. The patio was all enclosed, so it wasn’t cold out there. We chose to sit at a small square table in the back. There was only one other group of people out
I awoke on a cool summer morning, at first I wasn't completely there but then, a chill of excitement ran down my spine as I realized my family was going camping today. I ran down stairs past the mountains of camping supplies and clothes to talk to my parents in the kitchen. They said we were leaving soon and that I should start packing all of the supplies into our trusty old Ford Expedition. After about 20 minutes of packing our SUV to the brim with all of the things we would need to survive in the wilderness for a few days, we said goodbye to our three cats and headed for Steelville Missouri.
The next morning, Mr. Cassidy woke up early, dressed and was ready for the hearing, he was anxious to save his home. Since he wasn’t familiar with the streets, he left the house in plenty of time to find the office in Charleston. When he arrived, he found the building, but he needed to find the parking structure. At last, he saw it on the opposite side of the street and went across to it. While looking for an empty space, he saw one and parked beside a new BMW. When he got out of the truck and straightened his clothes, he noticed Louise Anderson, The President of the Women’s Club getting out of the BMW.
On a blazing hot summer early morning with the city traffic roaring! And the hot sun blazing, birds chirping and the smell of fresh green grass. Me and my family were packing and getting ready for our yearly powwow trail trip. My mooshum and kokum were they’re usual selves laughing and cracking jokes, I and my cousins knew they weren’t that funny but laughed at their jokes anyways. After we were all packed and ready we all piled into my kookum’s van and set off to our destination with the hot sun reflecting off the black pavement. The drive to Muskoday reserve was long and tiring, the van was humid and making us irritated, so I decided to roll down my window to let the summer air cool us off, the cool breeze was flowing and the music was booming! A bit later we arrived to our destination with our eyes popping taking in all the scenery around us, mind you this was our first time being in the reserve Muskoday. The excitement of being there and meeting new people was over whelming, the anxious feeling of just wanting to run off and enjoy the scenery with my cousins and friends I had met before from the powwow trails we took yearly.
Starting high school can be a little scary, especially when you have no guidance from siblings, like me, being the first one from my family to have an education. But that did not stop me from succeeding, I?ve always been confident and determined. I?m an enthusiastic when it comes to trying new things. Who would have thought I was going to be a good athlete plus a book geek, when in my past years I was just a regular kid. I was pretty excited about joining a club that had a connection with high school, that way I didn?t have to start from zero, I always want to be a step ahead. Fortunately, in summer, a high school coach was recruiting freshmen for running either cross country or track, they both involve running, so I considered it like the same sport with different timing. And this is when it all started. Running
I originally heard of Carleton from one of my acquaintances who, quite humbly, thinks of himself as a beacon of sanity and truth in the mists of a degrading culture. He presented me with an article from a far-right news site as “PROOF that these goddamn SJW’s r [sic] takin over!!!”, wherein Carleton was accused of being anti-christian, anti-liberty, and anti-god for its B.A. in Human Rights and Social Justice. Surprisingly, I was not swayed over to his viewpoint by this irrefutable and entirely unbiased example of modern society's sins. Rather, I chose to research Carleton on my own and found a small, elite liberal arts college with a lot of personality. Instead of a haven of treasonous communists, fanatics bent on destroying gender, and foaming-at-the-mouth
As I sit staring out of the window of the old st. Calvin building. I see cars flashing by with blurrier eyes all looking in different directions and rushing different places as if time was running out for them as if it was there last day to get somewhere or to someone. When I look out the window of the old st. Calvin building I feel sadness filling the glowing, glomming night air that surrounds me. I see all different types of faces speeding by in there fast cars on that busy street illuminated with the worriness and tireddom of the drivers in them. I wish they would slow down but everyone has a purpose for what they do and for what that purpose is we will never know because as of I, I sit here sitting in my window of the old st. Calvin building
No matter what happened during the school year I would always come back to camp and be able to spend time with the girls that went from friends to family over the nine years that I had known them. This last year was the last time I would ever get to do activities, earn merits or even swim a mile. During my last two weeks at CLH I knew this but it did not sink in until it was my last time to hike up to Church Mountain as a camper. On the way up my eyes started to sting and I reached over and grabbed my friend Riata’s hand. I looked over at her and saw that she was crying too. Once I realized she was I looked around and witnessed my entire cabin start to break down and come to understand, this was our last year, our last chance to do anything a camper could do. It was during this time that I truly came to appreciate everything camp has taught me and the great friends that I made along the way.

I’ve always lived surrounded by trees, deer, snakes, strange insects, foxes, the occasional owl, possibly Bigfoot and according to my brother the chupacabra. Though I love being surrounded by the dense expanse of wilderness I found myself yearning for something new. I wanted the city.Though I’ve been to D.C I never stayed long enough to satisfy my ever growing curiosity. So when I discovered Barnard I was more than smitten with what Barnard could offer me and what I could offer Barnard.
It was the last night of camp. Everyone had mixed emotions; some girls were happy to see their parents, some girls sad that they are leaving, and some who are just kind of like whatever. That night I was between, I was super excited to see my family and pick up my brother from the brother camp, but at the same time really sad that I was leaving my friends who became really like sisters to me. Most of all I was excited to have our parents watch Hymn Sing. I walk into to the dining hall for the last time with my cabin. We all have a sign where each cabin should sit and my cabin, Upper Loft plops right down and sits in a circle. My best friend Claudia whispers to me “ we must have fun” and I knew then that we are going to live this night
