My early experience with technology was playing games on my parent’s cell phones and watching television as a child. My mom use to sit me on the couch as a baby and turn on blue’s clues and give me a big bowl of Cheetos puffs and she said I would not move, she said I would be glued to the television and it was like I was amazed by the pictures running across the screen.
I remember always begging to see some ones cellphone or sneaking away to watch television after my parents told me I couldn’t. I stayed in trouble growing up because it was like I had to have my hands on new age technology all the time. I remember once my parents said I watched too much TV so they took the remotes and while they were sleeping I snuck in their room to take

I always hear my parents say that back then they couldn’t do some of the things we do today with technology, and they always say that technology is making us lazy but it’s easy and more convenient so is a convenient life a better life and is technology crippling the human race or helping it?
I now own an IPhone 5, it’s not the newest and most popular phone but it’s good enough, I also own a ps3, a Wii, an iPad, a tablet, laptops, and a lot more technology needed for educational purposes and without these finding out what I need to know would be much harder.
Now every day, I have my face glued to my phone, well that’s what my parents say, they say I’m obsessed and say that I use majority of my time in my phone, apparently to them all they see me do is have my face in my phone it upsets them so much that a one point they threatened to take it and destroy it but in reality they always pick the wrong time to look at me because I usually won’t be looking at my phone. My cell phone just makes my life much easier so I use it a lot.
Sometimes I wonder if my parents are right about my phone and electronics taking over my life. I wonder how my life would be if technology was nothing like it was in my parents and elders prime. Would our generation still be lazy or would we have to get up of our butt and make it happen for
Taking away your teen’s phone can be a reflexive response to misbehavior. After all, what do they value more than their phones? And if that’s your go-to punishment, you’re not alone. Researchers find that 65 percent of parents take away cell phones or Internet privileges as punishment.
One of the major problems in the world today is the dependency that teenagers have on their cell phones. The majority of people depend on their cell phones for everything that they do. They feel like they have to constantly check it to look at what is new on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. They forget to focus on the world around them and become absorbed in the online world. Some suffer from panic attacks if they don’t have their phone with them. They might not need their phone, but they have to have it with them.
I never thought about what it would be like living without technology until I got assigned my summer reading project, a twenty-four hour electronic media fast. That meant absolutely no cell phone, computer, radio, television, you couldn’t even ride in a car! From the beginning I knew this would be very challenging for me considering my cell phone is glued to me at the hip and I can’t sleep without the light from a television. I know, pathetic.
We rely on technology for everything in our lives today. It is hard for us to be more than ten steps away from our phone. Dependence on technology is even evident in Fahrenheit 451. In the novel, the TV is everything to some people. It becomes their friend their family and even their life. They even have technology that butters their toast and medical procedures. We use technology everyday whether it is our phone, laptop, or ipod. We use them every single day all day long. If something was not to work for a single day our society would crash with the absence of technology.
Although I find that true, I still like reading a newspaper the old fashioned way, I like to hand write my notes and homework, read actual books, and go see a movie at the movie theater. Because of technology, our social relationships have changed dramatically. We'd rather text than actually talk to someone. There are people who could be in the same house or even room and text each other, instead of getting up to talk that person. We've become very complacent over time, as well as lazy. We are constantly trying to find ways to make tasks easier. This causes the world to be less of problem
Currently in 2017 tech has been in everyone's lives one way or another. Whether it's a toddler using an electronic toy, to a small child using an Ipad, technology is everywhere. But what if you were born ten to twenty years in the past, how about ten to twenty years in the future? Right now as a fifteen-year-old boy technology is in my life one way or another. Whether is using my phone to watch videos and to text, or using my Xbox to entertain myself; tech is all around me.
For these current generation children born at such a time where technology continues to grow at such a rapid rate, they have never had the opportunity or experience to grow and learn in a pre-technological age. It’s hard for the children of today to imagine a world where cell phones,
Some parents believe if you have a phone that you should be monitored. Because your parents should trust you and not think
My grandmum spoke for us all that Christmas when she opened her gift from my aunt and uncle. She only half-unwrapped the box before launching it at my father across the room, crabbing “Now what in the hell am I supposed to do with THIS?” She proceeded to sulk, the way only my eighty-year-old gram can, arms crossed, lips pursed, but laughing the whole time despite herself.
Whenever you speak to an elderly person they can tell you all kinds of stories about “the good ol’days”. I can remember gathering around my grandfather’s rocking chair with all of my cousins during the holidays and listening to him tell the same stories he told every year. Stories of how things were when he was a kid and how kids today don’t even know how easy they have it. I remember talking with my cousins and saying how that was never going to be us and at that time we had no idea life as we knew it would change so rapidly. I can tell you if that man was still alive today he would be just as blown away as I am at how far technology has advanced. In such a short amount of time my generation has watched the generation’s following us be drastically changed all due to the advances of technology. Watching how children today just aren’t being raised the way the way we had or even enjoying the same things we did as kids. It is almost scary especially when you realize the lack of respect and morals kids today have. I am sure all of this is due to being overly influenced by social media and the internet. With that being said there is no argument’s that the technological advances over the last 10 years have been nothing short of amazing, but are these advances helping our society to grow and prosper or are they damaging and dumbing down our future generations?
As far back as I can remember my family and I have taken advantage of technology. The types of technology have changed over the years, along with our usage and dependence on it. Technology is a fundamental part of our lifestyle, including both work and play. What is interesting is that we also have many friends who use very little technology in their day-to-day living. This drastic difference makes one wonder how necessary the technology really is, and whether or not our dependence on it is healthy in the long run. It is really easy to just get caught up in using technology without thinking about the pros and cons.
In 2011, I became divorced which was a substantial loss of income for me causing economic hardship for me to support my two kids. At the time of my divorce Malik was 16 years of age in the 11th grade, and my daughter Cyera 10 years of age in the 5th grade. Due to the divorce my daughter developed an anti-social behavior, and had to attend a child psychologist twice a week which was about $150 for each session for a year. My main focus was getting my daughter well, so she can cope within the classroom setting. Working for the City of Marietta my annual income was about $36,000. In 2011 I moved my kids to a townhome in 2012 the owner of the townhome foreclosed; in 2012 I moved again; 2013 I moved for the third time which put pressure on Malik and my daughter. Coming out of high school Malik didn’t have a whole lot of options, he heard of West Georgia Tech College from others hoping to try and earn a scholarship with their football program. He was not recruited by any JCs at all, he was looking forward to earning a scholarship with the new upcoming football program at West Ga Tech.
As I stood up from my seat, I felt blood rushing through my veins; felt the temperature rising in my cheeks; felt the piercing gaze of the upperclassmen looking at me - the nervous, timid freshman walking down the aisle to the front of the theater.
Where would we be without technology? The number of things that we are now capable of doing is infinite because of the technology we have access to. This technology is also changing the way we think, write and concentrate. Cell/ smart phones along with texting and being able to Google practically everything have all played a role in the way we think and do things in today’s society.
Pause and take a moment to ask yourself, what role does technology play in my life? Would I be able to survive without the use of popular search engines such as google, yahoo, and msn? IS technology causing our upcoming generous to become in a sense “less smart”? These are all questions being asked by those all around us, worrying that technology is poisoning our minds and causing us all to change the things we do in our everyday lives. Our current generation never knew the struggle of having to go to the library to find information for a research paper instead of just having to move their fingertips to have all the information they need right in front of them. This “exciting, great new
