were minimized to only present a size run of each product and many of the unused or unneccessary items were taken completely off the retail floor. New colors for the walls, more wood floors (less carpet), and a minimalistic appearance transformed this old and tired store into something fresh and new. These are all principles Steve and I learned at Footlocker and the benefits were immediate. After spending 13 years managing retail stores with Footlocker, Athletic Attic and Soccer Master, I was introduced to Mike Mays who was about to open a new concept store (All About Fitness) in Kansas City. All About Fitness would sell, deliver and service high quality fitness equipment designed for in home use. At the time, I was working as a personal

In addition, there are 59 franchised Foot Locker stores operating in South Korea and the Middle East, as well as 15 franchised Runners Point stores in Germany. On July 10, 2013, Foot Locker had announced that is had completed the acquisition of Runners Point Group. 2016 was the seventh consecutive year of sales growth and profit growth for Foot Locker. After further research, an interesting fact that I learned is that in 1963, the F.W. Woolworth Company purchased the Kinney Shoe Corporation. In the early 1960’s Kinney had branched into various specialty shoe stores, including Foot Locker. The Woolworth Company incorporated a separate company in 1988, called the Woolworth Corporation. The new company, Woolworth Corporation was responsible for the operations of the Foot Locker stores. Being a frequent customer of Foot Locker, it is intriguing to learn the history of the

I grew up overweight, amidst incessant teasing and judging glances so frequent they felt normal. I knew I was unhealthy. I wanted to improve, and I did try to work out and eat right a lot of times - but to no avail. It never worked. In hindsight, it is clear my failures were because I prioritized health below everything - academics, a social life - you name it. Moving to the US for college, leaving behind a support structure for a foreign culture, I knew I had a fresh start that I could make the most of if I so tried.
Everyone has something they’re talented at, and many people have to try multiple things before they find their talent(s) that they have. As a child, my parents like many others had me participate in multiple activities. For example, I took dance classes, played a great amount of sports, and was a participant in many plays. In my freshman year, I tried running track and field. During the course of it, I developed shin splints and I proceeded to go to the athletic trainer. The athletic trainer here, Todd Korabek, has a system that works for the whole program. New injuries will see an aide, and that aide will then write up a card for them which lists their name, sport, injury, and body part. The aide doesn’t write the injury because only the athletic trainer can diagnose. After the athletic trainer treats all old injuries, he evaluates the new injuries, which happened to be me at that moment. Watching the aides assist Mr. Korabek really inspired me and his profession intrigued me.
My first year of high school, I had experience with injured football players during my physical education class. We had a certified trainer who would come in and check them out. She was excellent and all of the football players and staff loved her. I was so interested in her work and later thought about making it my career goal. As time passed, I transferred schools. At my new school, there was an opportunity with two other girls to join the football team. One of my friends that I already knew before I changed schools. He introduced me to the girls and the helped me get involved. The job was to assist the athletic trainer and also help the football coach with any laundry, equipment, etc.
The first time I realized that I wanted to be an athletic trainer was during my eighth grade summer at camp. I was working on a project where I had to find careers that I was interested in. Doing this project helped me realize how many job choices there were, but only one intrigued me as much as this one. My choice to major in kinesiology was made clear during my freshman year after I job shadowed an athletic trainer at my local college and high school. High school has helped me realize who I am and what I want to become, and college will help me become that person.

I walked in to the gym, and saw the familiar faces of my coaches sitting right on the center of the end line. My first word was the common English word that starts most conversations, Hi. Sarah and Rachel responded with a smile on their face and we began our discussion about the season. As the conversation continued, I became more relaxed because what I was hearing was marvelous. Everything I thought about myself was matching up with their words. It made all my nerves disappear. Once the meeting was finished, I got up and sent the familiar shoe squeaks to someone else for them to go to their discussion. As I walked out of the gym, the hall no longer felt dark it felt rather luminous. During the meeting, I got told two things. One, I will be
My clinical rotation for the fall semester of my junior year is with the King’s College Men’s soccer team. As an athletic training student, I hold a lot of responsibilities regarding the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, management, and treatment of these student athletes. Most of my daily activities can be separated into three groups, the pre-practice, pre-game, during the activity, and post- practice and post-game.
As of this morning, Compete shows 48 associates registered for the challenge. Fitness is still doing weigh-in this weekend so we could possibly see a couple more associates jump on before the official Monday start. I’ll update you, and the team, at next huddle if that’s the case. Next year I will start advertising the associate challenge as early as possible as well explore more creative ideas to encourage participation. On the member side, the total this morning was 161 registered so we have a grand total of
It all started on June 2014, I was uncomfortable in my own skin. I was underweight and was always out of breath. I ran like a turtle. At that time, I weighed only 115 pounds. I wanted to make a change for the better, wanting a better lifestyle. So I decided to sign up for the gym. That day changed my life forever. The gym made me fit, healthier, but most importantly it made me a better person which is who I am today.
Being locked under the pressure of 350 pounds of metal while several men with Boston accents shout motivational phrases at you is not a situation in which most want to find themselves. It is in this specific situation that I find the most happiness. I am of course talking about bench pressing, an exercise that sparked my love for fitness as an adolescent. I simply could not get enough of this exercise. One day I found myself going to a gym that I had never been to before but was excited to try out. I was planning to bench press that day. I warmed up with all of the equipment that I usually would have at my home gym however once it was time for me to bench press, I could not find one. This gym had everything I needed to warm up, but did not have a bench press— the one exercise I was greatly looking forward to.
Throughout the year in blended guided fitness my level of fitness did not change drastically because of my continued commitment to swimming. In terms of all my fitness testing throughout the year, beginning with the sit ups i showed a significant improvement, with a base line of thirty-two and ended the year with eighty sit-ups. I think the major reasoning for this improvement is dry land work that I participated in during my high school swim season, which focused on abdominal strength and building muscular endurance. The next fitness test I had was the push up test, my baseline for pushups in September was 10 push ups. My score increased to 12. Although it was not as much of a drastic improvement as my sit-ups, I still think it reflected
