A Trip to Jail When I was younger, I can remember my anticipation waiting in line with my family on a warm Sunday afternoon. There were lots of kids around us waiting to walk through the red gates and they seemed to be just as excited as my brothers and I were. When it was our turn at the gate I would stand on my tippy toes and peek my head over the counter to look into the small booth where the smiling lady stood. My face was hit with cool air from the air conditioning as I looked around. The nice lady always smiled and handed me sticker. On the sticker it read, “Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo” and had a lion and some zebras, along with other animals on it. I’d smile and press it onto my shirt. Then, I grab mommy or daddy’s hand and gleefully walk through the gates into the crowd of people. When I was little the Fort Wayne Zoo was a mystical place where I could travel all over the world in a single place, but as I grew up, I have realized that zoos are nothing but an animal jail where creatures are locked up so they never see their true roots or get to feel real natural instincts. …show more content…
From the monkey’s, to the Alligators, to the Zebras, I wanted to hit every exhibit and watch as the animals went about their natural routines. I’d press my face right up to the glass and observe until my mother had to pry me away so that the kids behind us could take a look. I’ve always been an animal lover and getting to see these exotic animals a few times a year with my family was such a treat for me. I also had a huge imagination so not only did I get a trip to the zoo, I also got to visit Africa, Australia, and Indonesia all in one day. This experience for any child is one that is overwhelming and exciting, but as it should happen, when you get older you realize that things aren’t always what they
The cold steel refreshed my hand as I grasped the handle to enter the phone booth. Inside laid the payphone sitting silent in the claustrophobic room. It had always trapped me when I entered, and created an atmosphere of a jail cell. Luckily, my reason for entering always masked that imaginary environment because it was to connect with others and not to be left alone. Although, on that typical sticky warm Florida afternoon the jail cell surfaced and I felt like there was no escape. I was a prisoner in my own mind; being beaten up by regret and taunted by sorrow. But, as my tears fell and my mind continued to race with grief I grew stronger and my morals shifted molding me along with them. That phone call that day changed my outlook on life
“Lights out!” said the correctional office as he escorted inmates back to their cells. I use to hear people say that the first night in jail was the scariest. I did my best to fight sleep as it was calling my name. As I lay on a cold hard bunk bed, I prayed someone would come and set me free. My mind just wondered about my actions. “Why am I even here?” was the central question that crossed my mind the entire time. I thought to myself over and over again, “People make mistakes every day. Why did I continuously make the same mistake every day?” I knew what the consequences were when I first started selling. I wanted to live an easy and carefree lifestyle but I had to find fast money to contribute my standard of living. I wasn’t hurting anybody; nor was I trying to may it a career. I just sold a substance that was attached to a “Go straight to jail” card.
Hey little brother sorry you can't call. I don't have any money on the phone. I haven't spoken with Mj in a month. I am so heartbroken. Your wife told me the great news and I am so happy for you both. Like I told Lamont I really don't talk to no one in Michigan. Kristy (1-2 times a week) Aretha and Fred (every other 3-4 months) maybe. Mom and Cass never. So that's that. You, Lamont and Mj are my concerns as long as you all let me be in your lives I will be. I love all my family dearly; however, along the way we have lost vital parts of who we are as a family. I think long incarcerations have made some feel that they are not family. Many people have forgotten who they are as simply Africans but on a basic level in this family we have forgotten
I could not believe what I had just said, I said it so hastily that I thought no one had heard me, but the judge clearly heard me say “The defense moves to indict Isabella Moores of first degree murder.” Everybody in the courtroom was speechless, “This so called witness was planning to murder her mother since she ran away from home, all because her mother was constantly abusing her and I have evidence to prove it!”
A teenagers boss put him on the corner holding a sign, but it wasn't to drum up business for his company, Precision Construction & Investments, LLC.

In the article “Zoos Are Cruel and Unnecessary,” Earth Times posed a question, “With the internet, as well as DVDs, 3D TV, etc., are zoos really necessary to teach people about animals in the 21st century?” In the response given by Liz Tyson, director of the Captive Animals’ Protection Society, she argues an animal and its environment in a zoo is “out of context” and there is no substitution for an animal’s natural habitat. Therefore, viewing animals in such environments distorts the message that a zoo’s primary purpose is to conserve these habitats in the wild. By focusing solely on the artificial habitats, Tyson fails to mention the educational opportunities that zoos and zoological parks can provide, such as interactive visitor programs, breeding and rehabilitation programs, and up-close animal encounters.
Experiencing a prison from the inside was interesting, I was not sure what to expect. I did not expect the inmates to have so much freedom, the dorm- like rooms were unexpected and I was shocked that there were only two guards in each dorm. My idea of prison was the inmates behind cell doors when it looked like a dorm room or camp. I was also unaware that inmates could work outside of the prison.
I feel like i've been in jail for almost a year now, but i know it's only been a few weeks. The walls in this room always feel so cold and wet. It’s so dark. No sunlight. I keep having replays in my mind of how everything happened. I can’t sleep. I can’t eat, nor do i want too. I haven’t seen or heard from anyone i know since i got arrested. If only she would have, ugh, we were supposed to be forever. She told me all the time. I have so much anger for her, still till this day. I should go back to the beginning, so whenever i'm gone and someone does find this they know the true story.
Thesis Statement: In 1934, when Brookfield Zoo was introduced by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, it attracted many people due its title as, "the first zoo to be educational" for its visitors. Since its beginning, Brookfield Zoo gave children and adults the opportunity to gain more intelligence on how important it is to care for animals and their environment. In order to make sure their visitors get this knowledge, Brookfield constructed programs, classes, and tours that would be enjoyably edifying for all. It would allow those people to disperse the word of educational zoos to impact other zoos worldwide so they too can offer their visitors an opening at enlightenment about wildlife.
Zoos are a dynamic educational source that enhances our community. Zoos raise awareness about jeopardized species and the significance of preservation. Zoos may help us to comprehend animals. They offer a good tool for our societies by lodging and dealing with creatures that may have been in peril at one point in their life. “100,000 kids come to London Zoo every year to learn about creatures.”[3] Usually when people come to zoos and they are taught about the conservation of some of the endangered species, a lot of these people get motivated and inspired to do something about it either by donating money or volunteering to help and so on.
So that night I knew that I could possibly not be released that next day. The next morning I left for the courthouse that I have visited 5 times before and the same process took place. I got on the police or highway patrol bus and arrived at the courthouse. I had my same jail clothes on and sat in a room with approximately 15 to 20 other people. As a result, I have to take the same approach which is to guard my mind and close my ears to avoid all the language and perversity. Again I sat in that same room for about 4 to 7 hours and eventually saw the lawyer. I must mention that before seeing the lawyer I was uncontrollably hoping for a release that same day. However when I saw the lawyer I was informed that I would be sentenced to 6 months in
The Zoo. A magical place for the young and old. A place where you can see animals from far away places. Places that seem untouchable. Look behind the green plants in the enclosure.
The sun was shining, the sky was spotted with clouds, and the wind was whistling as it passed through the trees. Overall, it was the perfect day to visit the zoo. Smiling, happy children bounded beside me as I walked underneath the large, blue and yellow sign announcing “The Colorado Zoo.” As I walked onto the sidewalk, I looked out over the “habitats.” The big, colorful signs advertising the exotic animals “brought from all over the world!” Animals that were taken from their home, taken from their habitats, and taken to a world where they are put on display. Animals who are forced to live out their lives in zoos in unhealthy, degrading, and devastating ways.
The zoo is a magical place. It is where animals from thousands of miles are brought together in small confined cages so people can look in them. As a kid, you don’t pay attention much to the people around you as much as you do those animals or even that ice cream someone else is holding. Sometimes that must apply to parents as well. I will never forget the day I got lost at the zoo.
