Personal Mission Statement
My personal mission statement will outline my perceived strengths, areas of growth and improvement and plans for self-care strategies. There will also be personal reflections on the reasons why I am pursuing this degree from Holy Family. What I want out of the program as well as what I feel I bring to the program. I will discuss some goals I have while in the program and any possible barriers I have to my success in the program. In terms of my strengths, the first thing that comes to mind is the fact that this is my 2nd master’s program. To an extent, I have done this before. I have already shown that I can succeed with great amounts of stress placed on me. I feel I have a drive to succeed that not everyone else

I hope to learn more about counseling as well as more about my own preferences and interests. I want to leave the program more prepared to take the knowledge I have gained and apply the knowledge in a counseling setting. I already feel through the first 2 semesters here I have begun to gain more knowledge about counseling and myself. Self-care is something I am learning to take more seriously. Self-care is something we need to practice to have a better work-life balance and prevent burn out. When I am practicing self-care I attempt to disconnect from what work I am doing and spend time with my family. I think my favorite type of self-care is anything I get to do with my son. When thinking about why I have chosen to pursue this degree. I immediately think of my job and while it is decent and I do get to help people. I am not counseling them. Despite my first masters in psychology I am working in more of a social work capacity. I did some research and hope that this degree and obtaining my LPC will assist me in finally enjoying my career and working in a therapeutic environment. I hope the program will prepare me for the LPC and help me learn to be a counselor in the area of my choosing. When I think about my future in the program, I become a bit concerned that my family life and full time job could be the only barriers to my success in the program. There is a balancing act between mother/wife, support
These strengths include organization, participation, and creation of checklists. I feel I stay very organized in this class, as I have all of my documents organized inside my binder ready for a notebook check. In regards to participation, I try my best to raise my hand nearly every class. I stay active and focused so that I can obtain all of the information. I also ask questions frequently which helps me to avoid mistakes or any confusion. My final strength, the fact that I create checklists, has benefitted me immensely. Checklists help to make sure all requirements are met for any project or essay, which is how I received a 91 on my Pilgrim Presentation and an 85 on my Canterbury Tales Short Essay. Checklists have helped me to score higher on assignments with multiple requirements, but not all assignments were as simple as creating a
Augustine is to receive the education and skills necessary to reach my full potential as a therapist. As a therapist, I not only want to aid patients during their recovery, I also want to provide them with insight into the importance of living a physical and healthy lifestyle. I feel that this University is best suited for that by providing a program that is strongly focused on hands on practice and patient interaction early on. I understand that the profession is an incredibly demanding one; providing patients with individualized recovery programs specialized to their needs while completing all the necessary paperwork can be a challenge, but it is definitely one I look forward
Target was founded in 1902 and today is the United States second largest discount retail store after Walmart which is the largest. “Words are just the beginning. Our purpose and beliefs work together to foster connections and conversations both inside and outside our doors.” (Target, 2016)
Discuss your professional objectives both short and long term. What has motivated you to apply to this program?
I chose the Mission statement from the Company category of a Company called R.J.B Industries,
The Merriam-Webster dictionary (2016) defines self-care as “care for oneself: self-treatment.” In the 1980s support groups were formed to try to meet the needs or the self that were not being met through healthcare. The founding of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) spurred this self-help movement and was an impetus for the development of the concept of self-care and the idea that the individual had the responsibility to care for oneself. Psychology has labeled the concept self-efficacy and includes the patient’s willingness along with confidence to do life-sustaining activities in their definition of self-care.
Self-care enables individuals to be conscious about their health and empowers people to have a greater role in taking care of themselves. Self-care helps nourish one’s mind, body and spirit. While the main goal of self-care is taking better care of oneself, a much-needed break can also make one a better partner, caregiver, employee, co-worker and a friend. Self-care can be any activity that promotes relaxations or brings joy to someone, healthy activities such as eating right and exercising are popular self-care activities that result in improved physical and mental health. Prayer, meditation, and spiritual worship can bring peace to a hectic day. Watching a movie, reading a book or magazine, and listening to music are simple activities that can be classified as self-care.
Throughout my life, my father instilled toughness and a will to succeed that I have carried throughout the years. I always pushed myself to prove others wrong. I am very competitive and transitioned that fire into my work. When I first entered into the bar business, I was just a bartender, in three years I became owner/manager and I had one of the most successful nightclubs in North Omaha. Soon, I got tired of the nightlife and I began the shift to prepare myself for a new profession.
Self-care gives us permission to care for self. Self-care is not being selfish, arrogant, or inconsiderate. Self-care is what helps and keeps us effective and energized as teachers, therapists, physicians, nurses, parents, and children.
My current strengths include; my honesty and passion towards my work. I have always been positive and confident regarding my aims and targets. Along with these, I am a good decision maker, due to which I can make right and quick decisions. Moreover, I have ability to motivate others and do team work. I am also a responsible person, when I make a target; I work day and night to achieve my goal.

I see myself progressing in my field as well as in my education. I find my education challenging and motivating. I can see many challenges ahead and therefore I am willing to invest my time learning all the skills and knowledge of my field towards professional advancement. I hoped to be offered in a management role in 5 years, looking to move on to greater things. I'm prepared to learned new things and contribute to the overall success of the organization in a number of ways. The only specific ''plan of willingness'' is that the opportunity be within my ability to learn, interesting enough for me to dig and do a good job, and the compensation increase a reasonable amount in relation to the demands of the
Examples are a great way to understand what a mission statement is and what it should look like. One example of an effective mission statement is that of the Xerox company, which states, “We believe improving the flow of work is core to helping our clients be more successful and making the world a better place. By providing our customers with business process services, printing equipment, and software and solutions, we enable greater productivity, efficiency, work capacity and personalization” (Xerox at Glance, 2016). This is an outstanding example because it includes the company’s core values, the ways they plan to make a difference, and their goals. These components were all part of the steps to writing a mission statement (steps two, three, and four). The Xerox mission statement begins by stating their core values which include, “improving the flow of work”, “helping our clients be more successful”, and “making the world a better place” (Xerox at Glance, 2016). Next, the mission statement incorporates the ways they are going to make a difference and put their core values to use by “providing our customers with business process services, printing equipment, and software and solutions” (Xerox at Glance, 2016). The mission then states, “we enable greater productivity, efficiency, work capacity and personalization” (Xerox at Glance, 2016), showing that Xerox’s goals are to help businesses grow and succeed through the use of their products and services, that were mentioned in
