“Never stop fighting until you arrive at your destined place - that is, the unique you. Have an aim in life, continuously acquire knowledge, work hard, and have perseverance to realise the great life”- A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. The cowardice that suffocates people in this day and age prevents one from from proving their perseverance. Hard work and stick-to-itness seems to be in very short supply. Perseverance is the persistent effort to succeed presented by those in authority without conveying weakness. Success is personal achievement through hard work. A person’s success is his or her resolve “to do everything with twice as much enthusiasm” no matter the barriers that stand in the way (Cassian 15-16). One’s attitude is directly connected …show more content…
An amatur film became a great success in that the participants knocked down their struggles and stuck to their original goal of producing a successful movie. An article written over that film “It Happened Here” states, “ Their perseverance paid off, as It Happened Here is one of the most compelling amateur films ever made” (It Happened Here 2). Even on a $20,000 budget, the persistent effort that was present within the movie-making process, was rewarded with a major outcome in the end. Along with business, relationships also require a significant amount of perseverance. Allison and Clint have been married for 16 years and going on 17. They are just like everyone else with arguments and fights at points in their relationship, but what sets them apart from other couples, is their willingness to push through hardships “for better and for worse.” Their fight could be as big as Mt. Everest, yet somehow they always find a way to climb it together. Many people take the wedding vow “in sickness and in health” too lightly. They think it’s just, you know, one of things that you say at weddings. However, Ana’s family would disagree. Each member knows that “she fights this lethal disease every moment of every day, and she does it with a smile” (Adam 2). She takes authority by not wasting another breath on worrying about her …show more content…
Attack, an American war film, tells the tail of “...both a superior German force and the incompetence of their own American leader, the cowardly Capt. Erskine Cooney” (Attack 2). The captain did not help anyone by turning away from Germany. Especially when it comes to fighting for what one believes in, their passion should block out any fear or any dought that may try to creep into their head. The film, “ was considered groundbreaking for its exploration of cowardice and nepotism in the U.S. military” (Attack! 1). The significant amount of pusillanimity displayed by the captain was bad news for his men. No person wants to be under the charge of a Captain who doesn't have the courage to be a true and bold leader. Overall, perseverance will get people's trust and loyalty while weakness and turning away from problems
Having the desire to be successful is one thing but without the doing the little things you will never get there. Successful people are committed to doing something every single day. Regardless of what is going on in their lives they work on their craft. They overcome the daily battle between procrastination and motivation. Every day, most people have a list of things they want to do; need to do; or should do; and what they don’t want to do. It’s these daily choices that are influenced by our discipline and
By definition, success is a person or thing that achieves desired aims or attains prosperity. How an individual reaches the point of success is “not exceptional or mysterious. It is grounded in a web of advantages and inheritances, some deserved, some not, some earned, some just plain lucky- but all critical to making them who they are” (285). Throughout the book, Outliers by Malcom Gladwell, the pieces of the secret to success are put together. Three parts of success include pure luck, the amount of time and effort put into working to achieve your goal and where you come from.
Perseverance is attempting something, possibly failing, but not giving up. People show perseverance in many ways throughout their life, whether in sports, school, at a job, or other everyday activities. Perseverance may be shown by enduring a 12 hour shift, practicing sports to improve, studying for a subject you have a bad grade in, or even getting a proper sleep schedule! Perseverance appears in novels, books, and even my life! In the movie, Iron Will, Will had to endure a lot.
To me success is accomplishing the goals, doing things the right way, and doing what you love.
The meaning of “success” has numerous interpretations, whether it is your own or society’s definition. Within Outliers author Malcolm Gladwell explains that being successful has nothing to do with your personality, so whether you are intelligent and hardworking or lazy and aloof, it depends on your circumstances growing up. Whether your parents are immigrants, you are the smartest man alive or have a habit of rigorous practice, your own personal success differs. However, Gladwell says that the conditions you grow up in affects your success. The idea of being successful varies from culture to culture. Therefore, there’s no definite meaning of success other than one’s interpretation.
My close friend Ashwin Mohan had once told me his perspective on perseverance and I was curious to know how it has helped or hindered him throughout his life. His response would be different from that of my previous interviewee in my reflection essay, Kenny Varghese. Ashwin had told me that he viewed perseverance as a means to an end. As it was very catchy to hear, Ashwin would explain his phrase, saying how there are two successful people, one that is handed everything and doesn’t worry while on the other hand the second works hard and persevered through hardships to become successful. Ashwin then asked, “Who would be more successful?” I replied with the obvious answer, “The person that persevered.” He nodded in agreement pointing out how
“Success has no definite definition,” Ida says. Aspects and views of success range from individual to individual. Other consider wealth and riches a crucial component of success, Ida disagrees with this type of notion and believes personal success is achievement of long term goals, genuineness, and overall satisfaction. Ida finds pleasure and joy creating content her viewers take an interest
Success can be defined in many ways; for examples some might think success is surviving, while others view it as having millions of dollars in a bank account. Success is also something that changes over time and is different for each person. In history books success is America gaining independence, winning a war, or earning a right to vote. As a society, success is at a bare minimum, and needs to improve. As individuals, the journey for success is always ongoing and ever changing as an individual’s view of success changes.
I believe that when you persevere you can accomplish countless things. When someone says perseverance, I believe that people automatically think about working hard and getting rewards after. While working hard is a big part in it, there is more to it. I am going to share a couple of stories that will hopefully change your mind about perseverance.
Perseverance is something you can not teach a child, instead it is developed throughout their life, throughout my
Perseverance is crucial if you want to make to make something out of life. We all have difficulties that we need to overcome in our life and perseverance is the key to success with no regrets. My neighbour had a dream to start her own restaurant but she had no money, support or job. But instead of moping around she decided to put everything she had into opening a restaurant and eventually after all her hard work and persisting paid off and she made her dream into a reality. My neighbour didn’t just wait for someone to help her out but she made the tough call to take matters into her own hands and persist to achieve her dream. And as Sun Yat-sen, “The key to success is action, and the essential in action is
Perseverance is a noun that describes the ability to never succumb to obstacles in pursuit of a goal. Perseverance
My philosophy of success is simply being content with your life. To me personality, I still do not know what contentment is to me and that's fine. I can guess it is being independent, with a job I am passionate about and surrounded by people that truly care about me. Success is finding that point in life that, if things stayed like how they are at this moment then it would be alright. I'm not saying to stop improving yourself or that after that point nothing bad or better will happen. People should always try to improve themselves and in reality, bad things will always happen at one point. Therefor my philosophy is to work towards that feeling of contentment. It
In anything, one does there will be obstacles and setbacks so one must persevere. Perseverance is like being a minor, one has to keep digging and working hard because sooner or later one will find a diamond. Take army veteran Christy Gardener into consideration. She was dedicated to the army and almost lost her life. Christy ended up being paralyzed from the knee down, had her legs removed below her knees, and received prosthetics.
Success is to fulfil a goal that you have set for yourself. Achievement of success involves five components: realisation, confidence, motivation, action and perseverance. Step one is to realise your goal and how to achieve it. Step two is to have the confidence to take the steps towards your goal. Step three is to find motivation to keep you on the path towards you goal. Step four is action, the first physical step you take in the process for success. Step five is perseverance. On the road to success, you will most definitely come to setbacks and struggles. The only way to conquer those things and achieve your goal is to have strong perseverance. As David Brink said, "A successful person is one who
