In the video clip from Facing the Giants there were two main themes that really stood out to me. One was perseverance and the other was determination. Perseverance and determination are both used in our everyday life and they piggy back off of each other in a way. In the video clip, what stood out to me was perseverance and determination. The reason that these two stood out to me is because they can correspond with our everyday lifestyle. Perseverance stood out to me because when Coach Taylor challenged Brock to do his very best on the Death Crawl to help his team to become inspired to do their best as well. When Brock was doing the death crawl he was saying he couldn’t continue on with the Death Crawl but Coach Taylor wouldn’t let him
The first type that perserverance can be used is media. One media perserverance is used inn would be Wonder. Wonder is a movie about a middle aged kid that has went through facial surgeries and has scars all over his face and is bullied. In Wonder his mom makes him attend public schools in 5th grade. Most of the year he had suffered with bullying and one main kid lowering his confidence to make him believe he was the ugliest kid. As the year had continued kids became to be good friends with him and he started feeling better about himself. Although the bully still continued to do his actions, he was later suspended. By the end of the school year he thanked his mom for making him go to school. No matter what you can always find ways to be happy and achieve things when they might seem impossible.

Perseverance is an important theme to A Long Walk To Water. The first example of Perseverance is when the war broke out, and Slava ran away from his village for safety, wondering if he will ever see his family again. Salva still kept walking thinking how his family would have been proud. The second example of Perseverance is when Mariel disappeared and was thought to be dead. Salva was heartbroken that now his only friend was gone, but fought through the sorrow and kept going toward his goal, knowing Mariel would have done the same.
The film Cinderella Man shows multiple examples of perseverance. Perseverance is when someone is determined to go through tough obstacles and difficulties, no matter how hard they seem to be. If someone were to face obstacles that seem impossible, they could go through them, or persevere, and try their best to overcome it instead of just giving up. If someone was to have perseverance, they would be persistent and continuously stay in the state they are, no matter how hard their problems are. Cinderella Man has multiple examples of this because the main character, James J. Braddock, perseveres through the difficult time that is the Great Depression. He took risks to fend for his family and never succumbed to his negative feelings when he faced problems that would feel almost impossible. James Braddock had shown examples of perseverance in the movie Cinderella Man.
It is a concept that has been shown to me by my parents’ struggles throughout their lives. My dad persevered to get where he is today. He grew up fairly poor and was determined to make a better life for himself, so he didn’t let anything get in the way. Even when he was eighteen living in a dilapidated nine dollar hotel and hanging power lines in the bitter Iowan winter, he didn’t give up. He said that even though he felt hopeless, he knew he had to preserve. Perseverance is not giving up when facing struggles and my dad is the embodiment of that concept. By my dad persevering through his struggles, he showed me that I cannot let obstacles be my demise. Another person who has displayed perseverance in my life is my mom. When I was about four, my loving, caring grandma died. This greatly affected my mom, but even though she was in pain she put on a brave face for me and my brother, and I think that this is a great example of perseverance. This also makes me want to be brave and have perseverance when I face challenges in my own life because if she got through hard times in her life then I can too. The people around me have shaped my idea of perseverance by the way that they have displayed it in their
In pieces of nonfiction literature, there are plenty of ways that the author shows perseverance. Perseverance is shown throughout history during times of war, the civil rights movement, or even getting women rights. Perseverance is made when someone needs to overcome an obstacle. Perseverance, according to Merriam Webster’s Dictionary, is a continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. Without perseverance, we wouldn’t be able to do tasks that may challenge us and tasks that are difficult, or even do things that may seem impossible. There are three pieces of nonfiction literature that show perseverance and they are, Warriors Don’t Cry, Temple Grandin, and Heaven
For example, when Louie is captured by the Japanese and taken to a POW (Prisoner of War) camp where he among others if both physically and emotionally abused he keeps trying to survive. He knows from firsthand experience that if he perseveres it will get better. This is proven when Louie after experience in three different camps is ordered to hold a fifty pound beam of wood over his head for ten minutes (Hillenbrand 295). Even though Louis was sickly, weak and skinny he managed to do it without giving up. This once again portrays the theme to always persevere because without it Louie would be dead.
Private Guilt vs. Public Guilt The Scarlet Letter, shows examples of both private and public guilt throughout the novel. The main character, Hester Prynne, is a great example of public guilt. Where as, Dimmesdale is used to represent private guilt. Dimmesdale has a hard time dealing with his guilt then, Hester had.
Perseverance is the only thing that will truly keep the world alive. If humans had given up instead of persevering America would not exist, tyranny would reign and slavery would still exist. Several characters throughout literary history, such as Odysseus from Homers’ Odyssey, and Louis Zamperini in Unbroken are the prime examples of perseverance, and they did it through personal strength and determination to not be broken. After all, it is better to persevere and live a hellish life than to relinquish that life in order to live more comfortably in the hands of those who seek to degrade the soul.
Everybody has a challenge in their life where they need a lot of perseverance. In The Call of the Wild, Buck is forced out of his old life and thrown into the wilderness where he needs to learn how to survive. In contrast to Buck, like most adults, my dad went through a parent's death which needed perseverance and had to figure out how to live on his own. While Buck and my dad’s experiences are different, they both had to learn how to live on their own. Those are just somethings that show how everyone goes through a perseverance event where life gets tough, but people and animals acquire skills or traits that help them get through these events.
There comes a time in life when perseverance shows one’s true potential. The story“Unbroken” written by Laura Hillenbrand shows legendary runner Louie Zamperini and showed how he truly represented that. Throughout this story it displays what the true meaning of perseverance; whether, it’s something as little as staying committed to track or fighting in World War Two and trying to fight for life even if there seems like there’s nothing to fight for. If someone is commited no matter the time or the difficulty that doesn’t just show perseverance, but it shows one’s true ability to fight for and try for something they want to accomplish.
In literature, symbolism can take many forms. Usually, it is when an object represents another to give a completely different meaning that is more significant. In “As I Lay Dying” by William Faulkner the author uses significant symbols so that he can develop his characters that do not communicate their feelings properly with other characters.
Before getting back up after you fall you have to gather all your strength and push whatever made you fall harder.Every time you fall the same solution might not work so you have to be stubborn and keep an attitude that tells your challenger Try your best shot, and that if you fall you won’t be gone for long.People overcome obstacles in less than three ways the three ways are by keeping a positive attitude, being determined, and lastly being a creative problem solver.
It is not easy to diagnose depression. Diagnosing depression is difficult because not all signs can be visibly seen straight away. The clinical depression disorder is the kind of depression that is experienced for weeks or even months or years.
