From the parent’s viewpoint, Chris Hite, father of a child who was punished in school, contradict the educator’s point that he will continue to tell his son “if somebody does try to hurt you, you better defend yourself"(Hite). He claims that his son got punished for defending back, after these kids have been bullying him for a period of time before the fight had happened. It makes sense for a parent to be upset about their child getting in trouble, but for a kid getting in trouble about defending himself, does not make sense. This situation, when the child claims he was defending himself, why punish both when it is unethical to do so. Overall, educators and parents viewpoints are different, but when a government law doesn’t support a government
Jaclyn Zubrzycki explains how year-round schooling is simply breaking up the academic year with several two-to-three-week vacations. The length of breaks and schedules are different for each school. For some, the students have 45-day academic sessions followed by 15-day breaks, for others it’s 60-day sessions then 20-day breaks, and for many it’s 90-days of classes followed by 30-days of break. In the 2011-12 school year, 4% of schools were on a year-round schedule. That’s 3,700 schools, and 400 of those were charters. The number of year-round schools increased by 26% from 2006-07 to 2011-12. According to the Congressional Research Service, the average year-round school is open 189 days a year, which is 9 more days than a traditional school
My argument is about a family show on television called “The Fosters,” people assume this tv show is not appropriate for all ages.
MSTT met with Asa and Renee to evaluate if their level of communication have started to improve. Renee explained her and Asa have started to communicate a lttle more in a manner of being able to understand one another. Renee explained her and Asa have stared to communicate about him not leaving the home or being motivated to do anything outside the home. Renee explained after her conversation with Asa she was able to understand why he remain in the home all the time. Asa explained he stated to his mother he remain in the home because it's how he avoid getting in trouble with his peers. Asa explained it's easier for him to remain out of trouble at home but it started to caused problem his mother started to think he is just lazy and not motivated.
As of 2014, over 3000 schools in the United States are year-round. Instead of having one longer summer break, these schools take several shorter breaks throughout the year (Scholastic 15). With so many advantages and very few disadvantages of year-round schooling, it is not surprising that these schools chose to exchange their excessively long summer breaks for shorter, more frequent breaks. Not only can year-round schooling improve the academic performance of students, but it can also economically benefit all aspects of society. Schools should adopt a year-round calendar, causing one to question the perils of year-round schooling.
The medicated child was an interesting watch. However, I am against children being prescribed medication to control their behavior. Now in some cases that may be the only option but most parents do not seek second opinions or other alternatives to help their child. Also not to mention how this kind of treatment in being abused, because it is not always about the child getting to a better state, but about the check the child’s parent will receive from the government. For example, I have a cousin who allowed her child to be labeled because she wanted a check. On several occasions, I witnessed her saying, “He needed a check.” I honestly did not think anything was wrong with him. In my opinion, he was doing what young kids do and that was having
Australian multi-millionaire and property mogul Tim Gurner made a controversial claim on the Australian television show 60 Minutes, that purchasing avocado toast may be one of the reasons why millennials cannot afford a house.
Mama’s views on the money that she is receiving differ from her son because she sees the money as a way that her and her family can grow from and live a better life. Walter Lee however believe that he receives the money that he can open up a liquor store, and fix all the financial issues that they may have. Mama didn’t loan the money to Walter Lee because she wanted to put a partial payment down on a house in a white neighborhood, so that the can live better a life. Mama’s faith influenced her plans with the money because she never let the money consume her way or thinking. She stuck to her faith so that she could rise out of poverty. Her faith helped her from breaking down and keeping her family together despite the larger amount of money
I would tell my friend Rene about “Parent’s approach to discipline is crucial”. When parents use physical force or social and emotional manipulation to control there children it only makes them more aggressive. Children who experience heavy doses of such such parenting are more likely to be aggressive. “Another aspect of parental behavior that is linked to aggression is monitoring, which refers to parents’ knowledge of where their children are, what are they doing, and who they're with”(p.g 372). So when you don’t monitor your children they will become aggressive. So far childern's aggression are linked when the parents are begin physcial with them. I would also tell my friend about my experence. When my sister becomes physcial with her son
Nature versus nurture is controversial debate that has been ongoing for several years about whether behaviors are caused by inherited traits or are they influenced by the environment. When Genie the wild child was found, she represented a tabula rasa “blank state” of learning due to the limited basic skills she had, and incapability to speak. Hence, psychologists examined the nature versus nurture argument through Genie. The early stages of growth are fundamentally crucial for children because they need human contact, affection, and interaction to fully develop a sense of self and be fully integrated into society. The absence of proper socialization during those critical periods caused Genie to develop differently than the rest.
In the book “Good Reasons” they start off with showing you how to make an effective argument. The first question they ask you is “What exactly is an argument?”. This makes you think critically about the definition of an argument and how you would create one in your writings. They then go over what is expected from the writer when making a written argument, such as how to argue responsibly and respectfully. “Our culture is competitive, and our goal often is to win.” Usually people are more likely to listen when you place yourself as a respectful partner not a competitor. When you can argue respectfully and not try to cast yourself as a competitor, you then make an effective way to converse. I agree with the fact that you shouldn’t necessarily
This nation was founded on the belief that all men and women have the chance to achieve what they set out to accomplish. Our founding fathers fought for these beliefs yet they would turn in their graves if they could see how this nation has changed for the worse. Once a land where any humble underprivileged man or woman could earn a better life through perseverance and hard work has ceased to exist. Increasingly more and more Americans are pessimistic of their chances of fulfilling the American Dream. The poor watch, the wealthy as they march to the bank to cash their checks, while waiting in line for welfare. Trying to get whatever help they can receive. Yet no one seems to care. Even the government seems to be against them. Education and hard work were the foundations of being successful in this country, but cost for an education can only be afforded by the wealthy. The American dream is dead and gone for the under privileged.
Essentially, Piaget explains that during the Pre – Operational stage, young children have egocentric perception: they have not understand the world logically. For instance, there are two cups of water which are the same amount, but one is a tall and the other is a short and stat, the child believes that the tall one has more than short one. During the Pre – Operational stage, children’s logical thinking have not developed yet. Therefore, if a cup seems bigger than the other, it must contains more water than the other. Thus, children need to have a life experience that it explains the world such as a manipulative activity because while they play, they learn about logical explanation of size or amount.
My audience will be targeted towards men and women thinking about taking their education to a higher level and are still on the fence about it. A potential challenge that will arise will be convincing this demographic that the cost and time is worth the effort. I'd like to point out that continuing education is something someone must be certain about before making the commitment, but it will pay off in the end.
COUTTS –– A mother and son from Canada tried to cross both American and Canadian borders earlier this Wednesday. When they arrived, they got rejected by both sides due to nationality issues while they were on their way to visit a family member in Salt Lake City, Utah.
“Parents have the right to make choices about reasonable punishments, but there is a fine line between "reasonable chastisement" (which is a defence in law) and assault (which is a criminal offence)
