I agree with your comments on continuing education. I have to have X number of practical and lecture credits every three years to keep up my Paramedic license. This is due to the constant change in treatments/protocols and the need to keep up with these changes. Teaching, in my opinion, is no different and as technology changes, so does the methods used to deliver knowledge to students. I also, don't think this is something that warrants a college course, however could be something as simple as attending X number of education lectures/conferences. This is a good point and I am glad you brought that up.
The paraprofessional educator license is issued through the Illinois Department of Education. In order to obtain a paraprofessional license you must have 60 college credit hours or successfully pass a parapro assessment. With a license you can work in classrooms as teacher's aides, special education assistants and bilingual assistants, always under the guidance of a teacher. The license if valid for seven years and can be registered for different school regions. My license can be located through the Illinois Department of Education however, I keep a copy for my own personal files. I choose this document to show that I am a license professional and I posse the necessary skills to work in education. It also offers school districts an objective
In addition residents of new medical programs are being trained to be educated of maintaining quality care and implementing systems to reduce errors and improve quality of care ( Shojania & Levinson, 2009). As stated by the authors, faculty must be educated to provide the education essential to the needs to improve quality care and implement QI standards of teaching to ensure the highest standard of care. Finally, the patient must be held accountable to ensure they are as proactive as possible to receive the most efficient care possible, as well as cost effective care.
These findings could change my practice as a Paramedic because it helped to gain knowledge into how a semi-rigid collar worked, what it was for and the damage this collar could have been doing to the patient. The findings also helped me understand that having a cervical collar in place could risk the patient’s life due the difficulties of being able to properly intubate the
I agree with your statement about student nurses. However, one concern I have is for nurses of the future (student nurses), it is my analogy that they will face great challenges in the future related to health professionals sharing a common understanding of patient safety standards and practices. Many students are left in the hands of even higher degree nurses who have heavy complex assignments and feel they do not have sufficient time to share with students the concept of interprofessional education and learning approach they need, which is collaborative learning. Collaborative learning refers to practice, procedures and situations in settings which learners engage in a common task where each individual is accountable to
licensed by taking the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), which is a comprehensive written test After finishing educational and professional requirements, you can apply for board certification through the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS), which requires both a written and oral test
I want to be an Advanced Practice Nurse. I complete similar work every day so I thought to myself, why not get the certification for it? As I called medical doctors and physicians assistants about sick patients, I found myself suggesting and telling them what orders the patient needs. I was struck with a sudden realization; I needed to go back to school.
Since the health care industry is constantly growing and changing, the skills I develop must be able to adapt accordingly. To ensure that my skills can adapt appropriately, I can receive training in the field and learn the new skills needed along with studying new material. I can advance in my field by taking new courses to continue to grow and develop new skills that will be necessary. The courses can revolve around administration, management, leadership, and other topics that will be beneficial. Since the Internet contains everything about changes I can look up on the new skills and find new ways to adapt by doing research online. The skills are necessary to ensure that patients and residents are treated properly and the quality care continues to improve.
As a scientist and medical professional, I try to make decisions based on logic and evidence. However, many people make decisions, especially important ones about things like healthcare, based upon religious or cultural beliefs and practices. While I have always respected different cultures, it can be difficult to witness such critical conclusions being reached based more upon these tenets than upon scientific evidence.
In my own experience from working in the health care field, there are other learning requirements such as HIPAA training, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. This act insures and maintains patient privacy per the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. There will be other continuing education courses I will need to take to stay current on laws and regulations within the health care field.

In addition to daily lectures from the instructors, the students also learn how to apply that knowledge in their medical simulations with STAN and through their skills-based labs. In these short five days, the students learned way too many skills for me to list at once. On the first day, they learned how to take the five vitals which are heart rate, respiration
The positive approach to HFS training allows patients lives to not be put at risk during the teaching process. Student’s can practice administering a catheter or assisting in surgery without the added stress of harming the patient. HFS allows students to practice complicated procedures they otherwise may not have the opportunity to participate in. From poison to natural disaster, with HFS students can practice group situations and emergency preparedness and have time to reflect on what they could do better next time. Licensure is when a person has shown competency in a field of study and has earned the right to become licensed in that line of work. For example when a person wants to become a Physicians Assistant they will take an exam at the conclusion of their higher education to become certified. If they pass their exam they will have earned the right to be a certified (or licensed) physician assistant and be rewarded with the credentials, PA-C (Physician Assistant-Certified) and will be allowed to work in a medical setting under this title.
As the world progresses and technology advances, so does the medical field. The medical field is continuously evolving and it helps nurse practitioners stay informed of the new information that is being released. With there always being something new to learn everyday and having the benefits of expanding their knowledge of medicine even deeper, nurse practitioners are becoming sharper than ever. Medicine is always changing and there are new things to learn everyday, which is why there is a high demand for nurses. As stated by a anonymous nurse practitioner on the Midlevel U website, “I enjoy working as a nurse practitioner for the challenge of continued learning. No two days are exactly alike. I learn more everyday. When I don't know how to diagnose a certain problem I do further research - I am constantly learning.” Which proves that it is crucial for nurse practitioners to be informed of new medications, diseases, and possible curses. In order to have a successful career as a nurse practitioner they have to be willing to sacrifice down time to expand their knowledge even further. Many nurse practitioners find the challenge pleasing because it benefits them to be educated on medicine so they will not prescribe old medication to their patients. Nurse practitioner Demetra Bastas also finds the challenge benefitting because she does not like to get bored nor dumb so it helps her to
Education plays an important role is any career choice. In nursing, the education received over the course of two or four years teaches what you should know, like locating the subclavian vein, and how to apply it, like how to start a central line into the subclavian vein. Many students do not realize that courses such as microbiology, the study of the bacteria and viruses, or ethics, the
