One time when hard work paid off for me was a year ago. I was a freshman in a very hard school that's grading scale was a around 5-7 points instead of the normal 10. My grades were sinking and sinking until I learned that I may be kicked out if I don't do better. I was frightened, all the stress of high school made me procrastinate and now it's showing in my grades. So when the new advisory came I told myself I was going to study harder and do all of my work better then before, and it showed. I got all of my grades up and in one of my worst classes, Algebra 1, I got an A on the final. I was so excited because I was now able to stay in my school and that I now have the skills to raise my G.P.A. even higher before senior
I’ve always been really hard on myself when it comes to academics and it got to the point that I was stressed out everyday. I also decided to be more patient with the process. Mr. Frost and I kept practicing after school every Monday and Wednesday. Two weeks before test day, during one of our after school practices, Mr. Frost told me, “John, I think you are ready. No more meetings”, he said proudly. After that day, we stopped with the meetings after school. Now I was just waiting for test day patiently. The test was on March. I walked in to the testing room with “ How am I going to do?” and I walked away from the room saying to myself, “I did it”. Three weeks later, the results arrived. I was patiently waiting for Mr. Frost to hand me over the results. As soon as I saw the results, I screamed for joy. I, John Paul Adams, passed the English 2 STAAR test. I was the happiest student in that classroom that day. I went over to Mr. Frost and before I even said anything he said, “I already know that you came over here to tell me that you passed so might as well give me a hug right now kiddo”, he said while opening his arms so that I could give him a hug. I learned so much from this experience. It taught me just how hard work really pays off and if you put in the time and effort, with a positive mindset, you can accomplish anything that you want. After failing the test for the first time, I started
A special attribute that sets me apart is my tendency to work hard. I constantly try to do my best in everything that I do. Throughout high school, I’ve always set a high standard for myself by taking rigorous classes, joining sports and clubs, and maintaining a high GPA. Even if certain classes didn’t have any relation to nursing, club meetings were the day before a large exam, or tennis practice was especially grueling, I still worked hard and put in as much effort as I could. With this type of attitude, I was able to maintain Distinguished Honor Roll and a cumulative 4.08 GPA throughout my high school career. I chose to maintain this attitude during senior year instead of taking it easy, as I was able to gain knowledge and experience that
It was very difficult for me because, I had F's in all my classes and had to finish a month full of work while keeping up and still manage good grades.I was pushed to my limits and got the best out of me. Ended up focusing more in class and spent my free time wisely by finishing assignments. The result was two A's,B's,and C's. Pretty good in my opinion considering I was failing all my classes. This experience relates to the quote because I was trying my absolute hardest, my ability to focus in class improved, I was finishing assignments faster than usual, and rarely socializing with friends. The “deeper powers” inside of me were unleashed while I was facing what i assumed was a difficult challenge. I'm just fourteen years old, it's likely I'll be relating to this quote later, but the world however is over four billion years old so I'm pretty sure it can
Through determination, I have learned that I can better not just my grades, but by accomplishing goals like joining new clubs and studying harder so that I can push my limits. I remeber struggling with math so much that i thought that i would neet special help in order to pass my classes. But i was determined, my usual stubborness, to succeed. I started buying books on math and studying math equations in my free time. I
When I was in the 9th grade, I had a huge unit test in Science and I wanted to do really well on it. This test would decide our grade going into summatives and final examinations. Therefore, I put the necessary effort and studied well to be able to score significantly high on the test. The day arrived where I found out what I made on the test. To my shocking surprise, I only made a 70!
I also started working hard to be kinder and not make side comments. It was hard catching myself and then not saying anything. Instead of making a sly comment I turned it into something positive. I had to give a more of effort, however I finally reached my goal. My family noticed the change in attitude and it made them happier. I also noticed when I worked hard I would get good grades. I studied every day and gave my best to every assignment. A’s came with a lot of late nights, tears that fell like waterfalls, and a lot dedication. Sometimes I would wonder if it was worth it however I never looked back. The best part was seeing that A on my
Gender roles have a been a large part of all societies across the world. The book "To Kill A Mocking Bird" written by Harper Lee has a lot of good demonstrations of genders roles of 1930s America. " To Kill a Mocking Bird" is an amazing representation of gender roles because it shows from the perspective of Scout a young girl being raised by her father and her brother. Having a character who sees both perspectives of gender roles shows that it is a good represtentitive of it. The author Harper Lee also shows how she was affected by gender roles by her writing.
Throughout many of the arduous AP courses I took in high school I was pushed to my limits, but I accomplished my goals through hard work. One example of this would be my AP United States History class. This class was one of the most difficult courses I had taken, mostly due to the sheer amount of information being presented and needed to be memorized. Even though the basics of U.S. history had been taught to me in one way shape or form every school year, there was brand new information on people and important dates. At first I struggled with the work load and text, but I eventually made it through and succeeded by diving
In fact, over the last four years of my life, I’ve seen myself more determined than ever to carry out the goals that I set for myself, such as graduating from college. In these past four years of high school, I have proven to many that my work ethic is second to none. For example, I have kept a 4.0 grade point average while taking college level classes. This characteristic of mine has driven me to work hard to succeed in school and towards my obligations
As I went through 1-9 grade school I finally found grit. Going to St. Mary’s during 1-6 grade school getting up at 6:30 every morning just wanting to hit the snooze button so I could get that extra hour of sleep in. After getting ready for school, I would get on the bus, three stops later we would pick up these annoying foster kids that gave me a headache every day because they would shut their mouths that I would have to push through school with. Then building up all the energy sitting in 1-2 classrooms the whole day waiting for recess so I could let it all out. Since I pushed through those challenges, I was able to move on to middle school. During my two years of middle school three out of the five days of school, I would get up at 5:30 and
Hard work always pays off. These words were constantly repeated to me from a young age. My parents would tell me if I wanted to be successful, I needed to work at it and give it my full attention. Luckily, I decided to listen to them, and I can honestly say that it has paid off.
Growing up in poverty meant always being in a pinch for money. This led me to my decision of seeking a job within the first month of my freshman year in high school. Thankfully, this decision led me to the precious self-taught skill of time management. I was able to build my skills until my sophomore year. I tried to take on more shifts at work than I could handle, in aspiration of saving up for a car, and consequently my grades began to slip. I acquired my first C in my favorite class: Chemistry. Being an aspiring student in the medical field, and a student who prides themselves on their grades, I was devastated. As a result, I soon reached the epiphany that one has to have priorities in life; I chose mine to be education. I discussed with my boss my situation and she gave me a set schedule of a doable 4 days a week. This allowed me to do my homework and studying in advance. This also permitted me to get enough sleep,
Van Gogh's painting, Starry Night Over the Rhone, was created based on his another painting, "Starry Night". It is concerning in Brian Eno and John Cale's song Spinning Away, which is from the album Wrong Way Up. These two songs seem like the other form of this painting. This was created on the bank of the Rhone River that was only couple-minute walk from the Yellow House to there on Place Lamartine.
“Okay to start off, I didn’t get to go to the Incentive.” I responded to my brother. To explain only kids go with no missing assignment, F’s, D’s, lunch bunch, ISS, or OSS. “A small amount of kids didn’t get to go to this party and I was one of those kids.” I replied to my brother with a little bit of minor anger. “Though it wasn’t all that bad.” I sounded doubtful but it was the truth. “Well better luck next time for the end of the year Incentive, I’ll see you later bye Collin.” He sounded cheerful for something, but I didn’t care “Bye Aiden.” As he shut the front door. So you probably want to hear my story so let’s continue onwards shall we?
Working with students with special needs, teachers have the responsibility of protecting students’ right. Special education teachers are required to keep high standards and meet best practices. According to the Preliminary Credential Competency Checklist Historical and Legal Foundation 1.4 (2014), two of the best practices that are enforced in the special education field is to individualize education and evidence-based practice (p.1). Being a teacher in a special education classroom, there is a diverse level of learners and each student has an individual method of learning. The role of the teacher is to verify each student’s learning is being met. Individualizing a lesson by making accommodations or modification for them to learn the curriculum. Implementing evidence-based practice is using an educational method of learning that will support the student’s learning based on previous research. Using evidence-based practice in a special education classroom is a key component when a student or students need an intervention to support them in the academic area they are struggling. Special education teachers are responsible for meeting best practice standards for students’ academic learning.
