“Treasure your relationships, not your possessions,” articulated Anthony J D’ Angelo. As life progresses and I meet new people I began to expand my knowledge about myself and relationships I develop. I met a graduate student from Florida Agricultural and Memorial University also know as FAMU and a Mechanical Engineer a couple of days ago and I decided to do an interview about him. His name is Pablito Sanchez and the interview I conducted with him allowed me to find my passion and learn. The reason why I chose Pablito was because we are both business professional in Tallahassee. I met him at one of the places I currently work at and we have been good associates for about 3 months. I first began asking him what made him want to become a Mechanical Engineer and he stated “ I am talented in mathematics and I …show more content…
I appreciated the fact that he identified specific details about himself that he incorporates within his field. The reason why I wanted to speak to Mr. Sanchez was because of his experience in the engineering field and I want to possibly become a Biomedical Engineer. Additional questions I asked him were skills that he would require from a person that is applying for a Mechanical Engineering job. He requires a future Mechanical Engineer to be a team worker, not be content with stagnation, and also have a positive personality. The meeting took place outside of a Hungry Howies restaurant; we decided to sit down in the outside-designated seating area in the Killeran Shopping Center Plaza. The meeting actually went great because I expected for me to not learn much about myself. I first expected to just write down information about a person, but in all actuality I had a lot of fun interviewing Mr. Pablito. The moment he told me that he first wanted to become a teacher but found his love for mathematics and engineering I knew that this interview was designed to teach
On the agreed date and time, I reached the agreed meeting place which was a coffee shop in Vancouver. I had previously sent a photo of myself with my interview request thus making it easy for him to find me. We had a brief introduction where I explained to him how I was given his contact information and why I chose him to interview. He asked me questions about my study and future plans. After this, I asked him questions about his profession and communication skills usages at his work
Field Technician with over 31 years of experience in the HVAC industry and who better to interview than ones father. I started the conversation with an important question that will help in the future. “Knowing what you know now, what are some pieces of knowledge you think newcomers should understand?” Chris responded with, “Don’t become discouraged starting out because you don’t have all the answers to the problems you’re faced with.” Chris was trying to get at that many problems arise on calls from a day to day basis and when your new, you don’t have the experience to expertly diagnose every problem to which may become frustrating. My next question asked, “What is the most difficult aspect of your job?” to which Chris responded with, “The summer season is long and grueling and includes many hours driving between calls and the physical demands the job calls for due to the extreme heat and extended work hours.” My last question left on a positive note of, “What is the best aspect to your job?” Chris said, “Meeting a diverse demographic and helping out those who are in need keeps me coming back for more each and every day. Becoming skilled in what you do and also being introduced to new problems each day and being able to solve them reminds me of why I chose this career. Meeting people from all walks of life and being able to solve their problems for not only theirs, but my benefit is one
While waiting for our food to arrive I started the interview off with some introductory background questions. His demeanor during the interview was very comfortable. I felt he was being very open and honest with his answers. Our conversations flowed very smoothly. I felt as if I was speaking to someone from a different culture from mines, but the way he expressed his perceptions and experiences were not foreign to me. Plainly, I could see how people all over the world could share the same dilemmas.
When I asked about an outstanding role model, he said his mother has been his rock though his transition. He always calls her throughout the week, just to hear her voice. He said community in Guatemala is a tighter knit community, compared to the US. He mentioned the sense of individualism in America. He still has a hard time understanding this mindset since it’s such a polar opposite of his hometown. Juan realized he wanted to leave Guatemala in 2006 and spent that time to make his way to the US. He originally came to the US to become a priest. He made his way to the US when a position as a priest opened up. I asked Juan the hardest thing about moving to America. He said it was learning English. He arrived to the Jackson airport knowing no English at all. The first weeks for Juan were extremely difficult for him. Once he arrived to the University of New Orleans, he began an intensive English class in order to learn the language. He learned the language in about a year and could actually hold a conversation. Juan’s time as priest was a difficult task as he expressed in the interview. He had to juggle many responsibilities and at the same time make many different people happy.
We sat down on the leather, red couch and I slipped out my interview questions. I decided ahead of time to write the questions I was going to write about. I chose to ask about his interactions with his childhood pets, so I then looked him in the eye and asked him.

On a breezy night on December 10th in Havana Cuba Yamila Toress and Raydel Carrillo brought their first child into the world at Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, and decided to name her Yaidelys Carrillo. I had the satisfaction of analyzing the past, present and future of this astonishing classmate. Through our enjoyable interview we were able to learn so much about each other in a short period of time and realized our similar future goals. I asked particular questions to produce the best analysis to get insight on Yaidelys past. I will look into her present life and see how her current goals will lead to her dream career. Ms.Carrillo enjoys to educate her self as well as educate others, Yaidelys states, “ Since I can remember I enjoyed going to school and always looked up to my educators and now I enjoy educating others on my passion which is art.”
Throughout this semester this class has allowed me the privilege to get to know people who I would have never talked to on a personal level while also having the chance to advance my interviewing skills while getting to know them. Not only did these interviews and experiences display my strengths such as being able to adapt to certain situations but even more importantly it helped show me my weaknesses. After one interview and the next, I had to learn what role I had to play as within each interview I had to adapt to find my specific role as it varied from one to the next. Having the opportunity to interview a handful of people from the beginning of this semester to now has also taught me that the person you are interviewing can have a tremendous effect on if the interview goes successfully or not for reasons that I will elaborate on further in my paper. Lastly, one of the greatest lessons I learned about while interviewing people would be how to properly prepare to make sure the interview itself go as smoothly as possible. All of these factors have helped me grow in becoming a better interviewer and have helped me grow as a person.
After a brief walk, the eleven of us arrived at Bike and Kayak Tours Coronado, located alongside the blue San Diego bay. Earlier in the year we had gone snorkeling and paddle boarding with the La Jolla branch. They gave us an impression that they cared about ecotourism and we wanted to see if their Coronado branch was the same way. When we arrive on the scene, we are greeted by one of the staff members who immediately asks us if we are the students doing the interview. Now we knew that the company as a whole knew this interview was happening. With nervousness in my breath, I said that we were those students. and then were told that Anthony Baldwin, our interviewee was currently in a meeting, giving us a little time to figure out the groups to use for the interview.
To gain more insight on who and what an Alliance Manager (AM) is I was able to get in contact with Guarino Gentil Junior, a Regional Alliance Management Head in Brazil for Mereck. Fortunately, I was able to contact him through email for a phone interview. He was very kind and informative for my interview and allowed me to sharpen my awareness as to what his role is. Guarino has earned two master degrees in business and is Certification of Achievement-Alliance Management (CA-AM) certified. Guarino has worked for Merck for nine years, the majority of his professional career, progressing up to his current role. He started in business intelligence, where he was evaluating the market and scoping out possible suitors for a partnership. Then he moved over to business development creating new agreements for growth. After some time he was promoted to be the Latin America Regional AM and was for the last three months. During my interview I discovered Guarino was actually going to be relocating to Germany, where Merck KGaA headquarters is located, to take a more global AM position.
Preview Main Points: Throughout the interviewing process, I was able to gain insight into my career goals, the role of communication in education, and my own communication skills.
After done with the interview, a staff member told me that I did really well in telling a story about myself. I talked about my personal issue that motivated me to become a registered nurse. When I answer the questions, I gave her examples, so that she could understand what I am telling her. She said she like when I talked about my strengths and
I chose to interview Randy Bedsaul. He is an older gentleman who responds in a genuine manner. Since he works in my maintenance shop and I interact with him on a daily basis it was easy to ask him to do this interview. He responded quickly to my request and even stayed after work one day to help me out. To say I was thrilled would be an understatement. I really appreciate individuals who are willing to go the extra mile to help others in regards to personal/professional growth.
