Outsourcing American Jobs
Outsourcing, no word in today's workforce is so loved or hated. Depending on who you are it is the greatest thing ever or an evil act by money hungry businesses at the expense of American workers. But what is the truth? Is it good? Is it bad? Is it both? Perhaps more importantly, what is it exactly?
Many people think that outsourcing is jobs that were held in this country going somewhere else. That is not entirely accurate. Outsourcing is actually one company paying another to do some work for it. Outsourcing can be as simple as paying a company to paint your building. Or it can be as complex as paying a company to control your human resources department.
When you think of outsourcing it is probably

The save don?t pass the savings on to you and pocket the money. This can be good for employees at the company (probably more so the higher you go up) and it can be good for stock holders if it is a publicly traded company. Sometimes the companies can reinvest the money back into the company and use it for marketing or innovations which can intern help the company make more money.
Saving money isn?t the only reason to outsource though. In Dash?s article the number two reason given was ?Having access to experts? that was given by 38% of the companies. But what does that mean? Simply put it means that good help can be hard to find. And if you?re a company that needs to have something done it may be hard to wait and see if you can find people that are able to do the work for you. It may be easier to outsource to a company that already has skilled employees trained to do the work.
In the days were most outsourced jobs were low wage and for unskilled labor most people didn?t pay much attention. Or no one brought it too there attention. When a McDonalds closes not many people think about the people who are loosing there jobs. I mean who in the U.S. wants to work a minimum wage job anyways right. But when the jobs are of people who are making forty to eighty thousand a year people sit up and pay attention. Middle class hard working people are loosing there jobs something has to be done. This is the United States who has better trained people
AP Chemistry Background The solubility product constant, Ksp, is a particular type of equilibrium constant. The equilibrium is formed when an ionic solid dissolves in water to form a saturated solution. The equilibrium exists between the aqueous ions and the undissolved solid. A saturated solution contains the maximum concentration of ions of the substance that can dissolve at the solutions temperature. A knowledge of the Ksp of a salt is useful, since it allows us to determine the concentration of ions of the compound in a saturated solution. This allows us to control a solution so that precipitation of a compound will not occur, or to find the concentration needed to cause a precipitate to form. The solubility product which will be
Outsourcing emerged on the financial arena during the 1980s and has since then been spreading. Outsourcing production was furthered with the process of globalization which provided a new component leading to the strengthening of resources, skill and labor specializations across the world. The process of outsourcing is using the skill and abilities of a third-party to accommodate society on the foundation of labor. As stated earlier, it was during the 1980s that the process kicked off mainly due to the efforts of corporations when they began to hire labor forces across the world. Even though outsourcing has come out from its developing stages, there are still following effects on the US economy.
The economic, military and civil grievances were essential in drafting the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration is one of the most admired and eloquent proclamations in American history. The document’s goal was to announce the independence of the original thirteen colonies by listing grievances concerning the tyranny of King George III of Great Britain. These original colonies were the first to come together to form the United States. It was adopted in its final form on July 4, 1776. The prominent author of the Declaration was Thomas Jefferson. He was one of the colonial Founding Fathers in Virginia. In 1769, Thomas Jefferson began his political career when he was elected to the House of Burgesses. A renowned author of prose, he was appointed to the Second Continental Congress to draft the Declaration of Independence. This notorious archive was vital to the sustainability of the colonies through economic, military and civil wellbeing.
The phenomenon has created major suffering for many American and as this outsourcing continues to spread, Americans will demand action (R. Hira 2008, p-95). The book also adds that scholars Ralph Goory and William Baumol have shown that even when the basic model of the economics are used trade does not make both the trading partners better off. The trading in one country will have a negative impact while trading in other country will have a positive impact. The country with negative impact will definitely affect its economy. United States economy being the world’s largest economy; historically, it has maintained a stable GDP growth, a low unemployment rate, a high level of research and capital investment funded by both national, and because of increasing saving rates, increasingly by foreign investors. But offshore outsourcing has increased the unemployment rate dramatically in the decade. And so the economy worsened day by day.
The U.S. economy has seen many hardships within the last decade. The economy has suffered from a recession that is still threatening to cripple some Americans and unemployment has been at an all time high. People have lost homes and jobs and many businesses have gone bankrupt simply trying to survive. However, in the midst of this economic crisis some companies have managed to survive. Many companies, approximately 36% of them, have found a way to avoid economic collapse by cutting costs (Job Outsourcing Statistics, 2014). One of the most popular cost reducing strategies of our time is called outsourcing.
Did you know that “the nation has lost more than 2.5 million manufacturing jobs and more than 850,000 professional service and information sector jobs, due to overseas shipping since 2001? (Aflcio)” It is clear to me that some big business companies don’t value the protection of employees very highly. By some big business, ill single one out and state that Goldman Sachs has shipped approximately 500,000 American jobs overseas in the past few years. That’s about half of the total net job loss during these past years (Aflcio). This shows that companies are reluctant to stay in American and scared of the current economic situation. It upsets me to see American jobs being shipped overseas at such a rough time
To begin with, some people are against it because the use of outsourcing takes the jobs that could be filled by Americans and gives them to people in other countries. The opportunity for an American to provide for his family is swept off beneath him when these jobs are given to people of other countries.A great example is one from the article “The Cost of American Outsourcing”. The Company “Whirlpool” closed it’ refrigeration assembly line in order to move it down to Mexico in which it left more than 1,200 Americans without jobs.In most cases these people
The exporting of American jobs is an issue that is important and will become increasingly so as more and more white collar jobs are shipped overseas. American companies in the past few decades have been sending American jobs overseas paying residents of other countries pennies on the dollar what they had paid American workers to do. This saves the companies millions of dollars on labor costs but costs Americans precious jobs.
Tucker Max’s famous words state that “the devil doesn’t come dressed in a red cape and pointy horns. He comes as everything you’ve ever wished for.” H. H. Holmes, a main character in Erik Larson’s 2003 novel titled “The Devil in the White City,” exemplifies Max’s statement. This novel recreates the lives of Daniel Burnham, the architect of the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, and H. H. Holmes, the mastermind serial killer who takes advantage of the fair to find his victims. Larson demonstrates the contesting forces of good and evil within the World’s Fair among his use of figurative language, allusion, and imagery to emphasize that evil can lurk in the shadows as well as in plain sight.
We see immigrants in the restaurant industry, not as chefs but as dishwashers and busboys. We see them in the agriculture sector as migrant workers doing literally backbreaking work of weeding and picking our fruits and vegetables so we can purchase them at low prices. We use immigrants as gardeners and groundskeepers and expect them to work outside, in Phoenix, in 100 plus degrees. I don’t think any of "us" could tolerate the conditions that they work under. They clean our schools, our offices and our stores. They get security jobs on the shifts that American workers don’t want, night watchmen. They take the construction jobs from companies that avoid paying union wages. These opportunities are presented by American companies that are only interested in their bottom line. The desire to hire immigrant workers, documented or undocumented, is out of the greed of profit-driven corporate America. The fact that Immigrant laborers are desperate for work is exploited by the very companies that promote lower prices for consumers, American consumers. An irony of sorts. We pay lower wages so we can have lower prices at the expense of the employment of others who were making more money doing the same job. Since these American workers are now being paid the lower wage or none at all, it helps that the prices for these items and services are lower. Otherwise how else could they afford them?
Those living in the United States of America are experiencing some economically dark times. Unemployment is becoming increasingly worse. Social programs are failing. Prices everywhere are on the rise as wages are declining drastically. Class division has never been more distinct. Of those lucky enough to have secured the multiple jobs needed in order to maintain their subsistent existences, most make only a minimum wage, established by their state’s laws, which is then harshly taxed upon. Life is hard enough in our dying superpower of a nation, but even worse for the work force of America that must survive on minimum wage. It is an offending disappointment that our fellow countrymen and women must live the way they do. This raises a

Offshoring is an interesting and controversial topic. Thank you for bring up this topic. Offshoring definitely is the demonstration of globalization power. In my perspective, offshoring is nothing about right and wrong because it is a global trend. In fact, In Taiwan, people also face the same problem with Americans. One of my father’s friend who lost his job in several years ago because his company decided to move their factory to China. However, now, in some areas of China also face the same problem. With the gradually increased labor salary and environmental issues, some companies in China also move their factories to seeking other places having cheaper labor force. As I mentioned, globalization is a trend. Moreover, if those
There have been many studies on the subject of leadership and many different arguments or studies on the different styles of leadership. There are those that believe that leadership is something that one is born with and not something that is taught. Most professionals become familiar with their respective leadership style as well as the leadership style of others over a period of time. Research suggests leadership is a balanced combination of task and people concerns and orientation. Some say there is no one style of leadership suitable to all possible situations. Therefore, what is desired is the ability of a leader to choose the style of behavior that best fits the situation at hand (Kostovski, Bojadjiev, & Buldioska, 2015). This case study discusses the leadership behavior of two leaders, Ben Samuels and Phil Jones. (Yuki, 2012) categorizes Ben and Phil as demonstrating a task behavior or a relation’s behavior style of leadership.
Outsourcing is when a company purchases products or services from an outside supplier rather than performing the same work within its own facilities, in order to cut costs. In other words, outsourcing is an organization's contractual relationship with a specialized outside service provider for work traditionally done internally by that organization. The decision to outsource is a major strategic one for most companies because it involves weighing the potential cost saving against the consequences of a loss in control over the product or service. Some common examples of outsourcing include manufacturing of components, computer programming services, tax compliance and other accounting functions, as well as payroll and other
