Cancer Cancer is a family disease that can strike and part of the body that can result in an abnormal growth of cells. The disease typically first appears as an abnormal mass called a tumor. More than 1,600 Americans are from cancer every day. When talking about cancer, there are ways to treating cancer, detecting and preventing cancer and genetic disorders. When treating cancer one of the treatments is surgical removal of tumors. Many surgical procedures carry risks of complication such as bleeding, tissue and organ damage, infections or even death. Radiation therapy involves the uses of radiation such as gamma rays or electron beams to kill cancer cells. Radiation therapy can increase the risk of developing addition cancers. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy can have patients experience pain, hair loss, nausea or even vomiting. The most deadly common cancers are lung, colorectal, and breast, with skin cancer being the most common overall because of our constant exposure to ultraviolet light.
