I put this first because it sets the tone, it allows me as the educator to meet and greet everyone who wants to attend, but it also allows me to set show them first hand the structure that I will have in my class, they see the grading scale, and I introduce my communication channels. We usually get about 20 minutes to speak to each class period, my presentation takes 17 minutes to give which allows 3 minutes for questions that I might not have answered to be asked.

a. Parent's are very quick to respond to an issue and often times want a very quick response, depending on the type of email I get, I usually will respond immediately if I can, however if it's a particularly touchy situation I always let a little time pass, reach our to my department head or vice principal to proofread my email.
5. Overly communicate with students and put the emphasis for their grade on them
a. I'm big on putting the onus on the student to be responsible for his or her own education. I have the ability to teach 9th graders this year and I really want to cut the cord from the dependence of their mom and dad. I believe in autonomous learning and in order to do that the kid has got to be spokesmen for their own education.
6. Devise opportunities for families to get involved that are practical and meaningful.
a. I think its important for parents to feel involved and I try to get as many volunteer opportunities in-between the four walls of my class and the fence surrounding my baseball diamond. I love getting parents involvement because they are motivated to be included.

1. You are in a large dark room, only a small swinging ceiling light is above you. There is barely any light shining out and you hear noises in the dark. A growl here or a skittering over there, the ground is cold and made of concrete. You feel something touch your leg to see a centipede run across your foot only to see it grabbed by a hand from the dark and as you slowly back up you run into a wall and the light gets dimmer, but as you go back towards the light it goes back to normal lighting. Then the lights turn on and you find out i was all your imagination and you sit down shaking with fear.
Upon reviewing the above public relations plan, Mrs. Williams and I discussed some possible suggestions for improvement if the team chooses to do this event next year. One of the major concerns was attendance. We discussed various ways that we could improve attendance for future activities. We feel that having a better public relations plan in place would help improve the awareness of the parents as to how important their involvement in these events can be. One suggestion would be to feed the families a small meal such as hotdogs or sub sandwiches. Previous events that have included food have been more successful.
