Abstract
This paper attempts to deal with Students’ opinion regarding the usage of online journals and periodicals by the users of engineering colleges. This study attempts to find out the familiarity, preference and utility of online journals and periodicals by the users of engineering colleges. Analysis and interpretation are mainly from the information collected through questionnaire method. This paper provides few suggestions for the effective use of online journals among engineering college libraries.

1. INTRODUCTION
The Online sources of information are becoming more and more important for the academic community for their teaching and research. Online journals have revolution the scholarly and scientific communication since their inception in the late 1980s. The exponential growths of online journals over the last five years were popular among scientific information providers, publishers, libraries and information centers. Current developments in online journals and their institutional licensing and subscriptions arrangements clearly indicate a rapid revolution.
The libraries first began tracking online journals in 1991 and the Association of Research
For one thing it is free to use GCU library for the articles versus paying the outside publisher for it. The GCU library has over 46000 full text Journals covering all the major academic subject. The majority of the resources are peer reviewed and scholarly. Utilizing the general internet can have you reading and citing information that is not scholarly or peer-reviewed. If for any reason information needs to be researched on the internet, However, the best thing to do is it make sure it is Authority- Scholarly material; Currency- Current on the information used; Objectively- resources; the information provided is good and clear; Accuracy-accurate free of errors and have cited information; relevancy; relevant to your assignment. If this is
Prometheus: Titan God of Forethought Greek Mythology is the legends and myths created by the Ancient Greeks. An important being in Greek legend is Prometheus. Prometheus, an infamous figure in Greek mythology, was an example of turmoil –always being in the wrong in someone else’s eyes. Although he is somewhat famous, his family is obscure. Prometheus has several legends to his name, some more famous than others.
Since I was very young, I have always wanted to enter the Criminal Justice field. Between my father’s job as a Corrections Officer, and my constant reading of Marjorie Weinman Sharmat’s “Nate the Great” books, I knew I wanted a similar career where I help out my community by contributing to the Criminal Justice system. I found out later in school that I also loved learning about science and anatomy (Though, I can’t say dissecting an elk heart was all that pleasant). It wasn’t until high school that I discovered a career path that would satisfy my love of science and criminal justice; Forensics. I took a couple Forensics classes and became hooked.
This research assignment proved to be one to remember. It took a lot more time than I initially thought it would take, but I managed to gain a great understanding an appreciation for these the electronic recourses. Before this assignment, I would use the internet as the sole source of gathering necessary information to incorporate in my paper, but now that I feel stronger about using other sources such as Google books and open library, I know that my papers will be more informative as well as more interesting. With the access to many primary sources I feel more confident that the information I gather will be precise and correct unlike some internet sources that sometimes tend to be misleading. With the combination of all these online
Now a day, all universities and authors publishes their research paper or articles online. So, it is now easy for a student find the
Human beings have been known to survive harsh environments such as natural disasters all throughout history and now. Survival is an essential part of our lives and it’s the reason why we’re all here today. People you might not expect in real life have gone through much harder times than we have. Some humans have been in a natural disaster so dangerous, that they would have to resort to cannibalism.
The first journal I found was Business and Economics Journal which is an open access publisher. The main side gives an overview of useful links like most viewed article, indexing and archiving, eBook etc.
The journal samples use were obtained through journals available through internet resources and the California State University Library web database.
Research Topic: Extent of utilisation of portal disseminated information for learning purposes by the students of Federal Polytechnic,
The purpose of this paper is to describe the impact of electronic Information resources on user of NIPER (National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research) mohali. A questionnaire was used to find the answer of questions about the awareness and usage of e resources among user, to identify the level of satisfaction, to measure the impact of electronic resources and to find out the problems which are faced by the user. The study found that use of e resources was not only affected by low seep of network and reading direct from computer but also lack of enough computers in library and paid access of information. The finding of the study indicated that a lot need to be done to increase the use of e-resource and librarians should reorient themselves, think creatively and adopt the new technology to generate services and resources to increase the use of
Of the 47 Indian scientific journals that find place in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) on CD-ROM – 1999 Science Edition, Current Science tops the tally amongst Indian journals with an Impact Factor (IF) of 0.567. It is not only the most cited Indian Journal (1766 citations in 1999), but also the largest journal in terms of number of articles (464) published during 1999. The other end of the 1999 spectrum includes the Indian Journal of Agronomy (lowest IF, 0.032), IETE Journal of Research (least cited with 7 citations) and Journal of Astrophysics and Astronomy (smallest journal in terms of number of articles, i.e. 6 during 1999). Specifically, only four journals received
There are various types of academic journals advantageous for the research one uses while writing papers. Usually, in the fields of scientific study, these journals are in a format called IMRAD. IMRAD stands for Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion. This format is used to break up said journal into sections to show the process and data collected from the experiment. Within these journals there is detailed data and often charts and images of the experiment that was conducted. The journals have references at the end since the authors almost always pull some of their information from other resources to help reinforce their data.
November 2004 was the launch of scholar.google.com and since that time it has been very popular amongst those that use it for research. As of May 2014 Google Scholar’s estimated index size was around 160 million documents. (Orduna-Malea, Ayllon, Martin-Martin, & Lopez-Cozar, 2014) This alone illustrates the size of scholar type articles and journals that are available.
Inferring from that, there are advantages and disadvantages of both the traditional and the electronic publishing. First and foremost, we already know that both the electronic the traditional publishing have the same aim. However, they are different in term of advantages and disadvantages and what we focus on is that the electronic publishing has more advantages than the traditional publishing in term of facilities and ease of use. We must acknowledge that most developments have the ease of use and speed that the simple machines of the past did not. To compare, one of the advantages of electronic publishing is the ease of viewing the electronic version of publications which people can look at online in the comfort of their homes if they like. In contrast, the traditional publications like books are not that easy to access or view with the click of a button on a personal phone or computer. Moreover, electronic publishing is easy to publish whereas traditional publishing is more difficult because it has more steps. First, the author writes the material, then another proofreads it, and then it goes into the publishing house where it takes a long time to publish. Another advantage of electronic publishing is the low cost of publishing while traditional polishing is costlier and more time consuming. For all the reasons mentioned above, there has been an exodus from traditional to electronic publishing which has weakened traditional publishing into near
Education and Lifelong Learning. The ALA’s fifth value centers on the library’s need to provide opportunities to their communities for life-long learning. Librarians are encouraged to promote “the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of a learning society” (Core Values of Librarianship, 2004) through their work. The concepts behind the OA Publishing movement work in tandem with the efforts of librarians to establish life-long learning lifelines to patrons by providing free access to what was once expensive and/or inaccessible information. Access to academic data should not be limited to those with the good fortune to have resources available to them at will. All people with the desire and drive to access and utilize academic research should be afforded the opportunity to do so regardless of their financial situation or institutional affiliation. OA journals allow for self-directed learning to take place outside the traditional constraint of an academic environment, thus it actively promotes continued education and learning opportunities for non-traditional information communities.
