In June, Oldcastle Precast Enclosures employees gathered to volunteer at the Houston Food Bank and do their part in the fight against hunger in the state of Texas.
The corporate initiative was spearheaded by [name], [title] for Oldcastle Precast Enclosures. In addition to making meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the coming week, they helped clean out the hot and cold food storage bins, unloaded milk and ice pallets and packed pallets for food distribution to various locations who provide food for families and children. During their time, they helped provide over 14,000 meals!
The organization heavily counts on volunteers to make its mission a reality. “Not only was it rewarding giving back but we also had the opportunity to learn about
In order to be a volunteer, one must first realize that volunteering is a serious matter. The
During the break the volunteers asked us several questions. From what I gathered all of the volunteers also need the assistance of the pantry. Many asked us how they could help us, assuming we had fallen on hard times. I assured them they we were just there to help them and donate our time. Volunteers receive each goods in their boxes in return for their help.
Oldcastle Precast announced today that Mike Burke, Sales Manager of the Nampa, Idaho facility, will retire after 40 years of service.
This is but one of many story pages turned because of Saltillo United Methodist Church “Meals on Wheels” program. The outreach program began on January 2, 2012 as part of the church’s Five Practices of a Fruitful Congregation Initiative, and has since flourished into a ministry of its own. The purpose of the mission is to deliver hot, nutritious meals to
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the program. Collectively they spent 39,000 hours this year delivering meals along with “human contact and kindness” to our clients. We thank them for the generous gift of their time.
I am writing this letter to you as a health promotion officer with the local government, and once a resident of your first electorate, Girrawheen. I have been working with the local Stirling Farmer’s Market for the last ten years now and have noticed an increasing amount of food being discarded as waste, when truly this food could be redirected to other sources or organisations that require the assistance of donations. I have organised to donate any unsold food produce to the Food Ministry Soup Kitchen by Rainbow Community Church held in Hainsworth Centre in Girrawheen every Thursday morning. Although this greatly benefits the emergency relief agency and residents of Girrawheen, it has come to my attention by the manager of the Soup Kitchen that the recipients of the produce are unsure what to do with most, if not majority of the items. I visit Girrawheen on a weekly basis and I am writing to express my concern about the population within the suburb that do not receive an adequate amount of daily food requirements in all areas of the recommended Australian Dietary Intake
The South Texas Food Bank was one of the many agencies that we were working with through Rebranding the Border, a non-profit social venture that I co-founded. Rebranding the Border, at the time was focused on tackling one of the many side effects of the ongoing border violence, a decrease in the number of volunteers assisting local community organizations. Through Rebranding the Border we were able to set up partnerships and deliver
During my volunteer hours I learned a lot about my own community I that I have not been able to experience. For example I have never been able to participate in so many writing programs and workshops in my local high school, this is because I also did not attend my own local high school because my mother did not allow me to instead, she asked me to attend a charter school. By partnering with LA826, I was able to attend different writing workshops where I would help different high school student write essay, cover letters, and personal statements. Furthermore I believed that most of my activities consisted of just being able to listen to some of the students.

Ben joined together with others on his campus that had been involved in hunger and homelessness community service and activism and started to come up with a program. The goal of the organization is to reduce food waste
By participating in this service project, I have learned that it is important to take part in activities that benefit
Throughout my research on MIFA I have learned just how much of an impact the organization has had in combating the hunger in Memphis. MIFA is a pillar of our community both from the work it does to serve senior and families in crisis, and by brining our community together in the vision of a better Memphis. Those who give to and through MIFA care little about being recognized for donations, but receive satisfaction from knowing their service helps those who desperately need it. Their work has inspired me to sacrifice some of my weekends to help volunteer in the near future so I can do my
Oldcastle Precast, worked with Landsea Holding Corporation, Hunsaker & Associates, and Sunrise Pacific Construction to design, manufacture, and install several of the largest and deepest StormCapture® stormwater detention systems, to date, at Portola Center in Lake Forest, California.
