When you look out the window now, after having worked through the first lesson, do you see anything differently than when you looked out the window before you started reading? What was different? Why? The area where I live would be considered the "suburbs" because most of the surrounding buildings are residential homes. When I looked out the window during the first lesson, it was raining outside, and the sky was gray. Now, that it is night time I can hear airplanes going past every five minutes or so. I never really noticed this before because I have my windows closed during the evening to keep bugs out. Furthermore, now that I think about it, I never use airplanes fly by during the morning or afternoon when I am home. The main difference …show more content…

This is different from before because I could not see beyond the thick gray clouds. Also, I could psychically see fewer things during the evening than I would have in the afternoon. For example, I can't see beyond ten houses when everyone has their lights off. Based on your understanding so far, is current development sustainable? Why or why not? Yes, after reading lesson one and two in combination with my prior learning, I do believe that current development is unsustainable because we are using too much of over natural resources, the fact that poverty exists, and the rate of growth in developing nations. First, the current development of our natural resources is unsustainable because we are using much more than the amount that nature can reproduce for future generations. For example, we are cutting down trees faster than they could grow back and we use fossil fuels that by some estimates take "millions of years to form." First, individuals can contribute to a sustainable future by only using the things that they need, recycle waste, and reusing products that are already made such as second-hand furniture. Also, individuals could install energy efficient lighting and solar panels in their home. Second, companies have the biggest responsibility because they consume the most of the earth's resources. These corporations are responsible for exercising corporate social responsibility by going above, and beyond that, the operations are not damaging the environment in any meaningful way. For example, a mining company would be responsible the clean of chemicals that enter the natural environment. Lastly, the Government is in charge of the laws and regulations that contribute to sustainable development such as how much resources companies can use and where they could get said resources. Furthermore, the Government will penalize or jail anyone that breaks the laws of the country. Are there barriers to performing those roles and responsibilities
