After her accusations are spoken the President uses a speech dependent gesture by subtly turns both palms out while draped at his sides, this arbitrary gesture shows protective ignorance, although he is completely aware of the cause and truth to these accusations he is nonverbally trying to convince his counter partner that he is oblivious to the allegations. Olivia knows this is what he is trying to get across so she crosses her arms in defense, with her brows lowered she repeats the question three times, each with higher intensity and more aggressive tone to express the seriousness of the matter. Although no longer involved with each other, it is obvious by their active gaze that they still feel a great degree of love for one another. Bill Clinton is a polarizing figure who endlessly campaigned for higher office for most of his life. “The Comeback Kid,” who was constantly investigated upon, became skilled at defending himself. He commits perjury during his presidency when refuting the Lewinsky affair. Clinton’s reaction to the allegations in his infamous denial and later apology showcase his perceptively chosen diction and survivalist attitude in terms of his governmental career. After all the diatribes against him and cataclysmic career falls, he is still a noteworthy figure in campaigns and events today. Yet, the amount of resignations of political figure due to sex scandals after this one is also significant. Although he implored the American people to respect that even
Across the planet earth, there are some 196 sovereign countries that each have their own independent ways of ruling the people of their land. Whether it be a monarch, a dictator, or a president, no one in the world beckons such a large power as the President of the United States. This man or woman is in charge of one of the most powerful countries in the world, and that person makes vital decisions daily that could change the fate of their nation they lead so graciously. Through 44 presidents, the United States has seen its share of wars, problems, fights, and scandals. Whether international, continental, or national, these 44 men have gotten through the toughest of times to lead the nation toward prosperous times and even more prosperous futures. One of these presidents, though, has caused what has come to be known as one of the biggest scandals to ever rock a presidency to its core. Richard Nixon was an adored man, but when he got caught trying to secure success for his campaign, it ended disastrously for him
While it is too early to accurately judge the presidency of Bill Clinton, most would agree that he was successful in office. He was the first democrat to successfully be reelected since Franklin Roosevelt. Yet, when a sufficient amount of time has passed and historians attempt to categorize and analyze Bill Clinton’s presidency, his legacy will ultimately be tied to scandal. The numerous scandals that Clinton faced – and survived –were an important aspect of the Clinton presidency. On one hand, they showed the well-documented weakness of Clinton’s personal character – his infidelities, his evasiveness, and his lack of integrity. Yet, Clinton’s ability to survive these scandals are a true testament how politically cunning and brilliant the man was.
Because of the Nixon administration, uncovering corrupted lives of officials has become paramount, even when it has little to do with the political agenda. In Watergate and the Resignation of Richard Nixon, Palermo (2006) explains that “journalist pounce on any scandal no matter

Scandal shows the defiance of male patriarchal ideology by Olivia Pope with which she goes back to every episode. We watch in scandal as President Fitz continues to fail to express his love to Olivia Pope. The only way we see him expressing himself is through his sexual activities. In which Olivia denies wanting to until she finally gives in. There is a constant reaffirmation of the patriotic struggle
Non-verbal communication consists mainly of the things people do with their body language. There are times where words are expressed and non-verbal communication could help emphasize the message. A few examples of nonverbal communication are hand gestures eye contact, facial expressions as well as tone and volume. I was given this assignment to observe a situation and take note of the nonverbal communication that occurred. I also had to observe whether the non-verbals were able to execute the message and if the behavior was acceptable.
Many people, myself included look up to individuals in an authoritative role such as; senators, governors, and presidents. We view them as being honest and sincere. They have to be right? They do want to run the country after all. Often our thoughts are “they would never lie to us or hide things from us”, but unfortunately that’s not always the case. One of the biggest political scandals to hit the United States of America was the Watergate scandal involving our very own President Richard Nixon. This scandal caused a lot of American’s to lose trust and hope in the presidency. The scandal received its name from the Watergate apartment and office complex that was located in Washington D.C., where a burglary took place on June 17, 1972 and five men were arrested. It then came to surface that the men’s intentions were to sabotage the opposite political party, when president Nixon was notified of this he order the Central Intelligence Agency to call the FBI to stop with any further investigation, that national security was at stake. President Nixon knew that it would come back to the White House and didn’t want to risk anything, even though he was never involved with the
The 1980s was a most controversial decade which witnessed the birth of multiple music icons known not only for their exceptional musical talent, but also the way they redefined social constructs about identity, race and religion. One would postulate the question of how the modern music industry has been shaped by the behaviour and beliefs of the artists of the 1980s. Furthermore, it is not only the modern music culture but society as a collective and how our responses to social and political issues are dictated by the responses of the 1980s. Specifically, issues concerning changing attitudes to sexuality and gender identity. Almost three decades have passed since Prince first rose to fame and to this day, he is still a household name.
Nonverbal communication covers all aspects of communication beyond words. It is anything from body gestures to the way words are spoken. The tone, demeanor, hidden meaning behind words, mix that with body language and what is creates in nonverbal communication elements. Even clothes and personal appearance can send a nonverbal message. Nonverbal communication accounts for nearly 65-93% communication means (Wood, 2014). One area where nonverbal communication sent a negative, incorrect message is the movie Erin Brockovich. The clothing of the main character sent the message that she was uneducated, white trash. This could not be further from the truth. She was an intelligent, single mother who saw a problem where nobody else did.
“Extensive research has shown that no matter how knowledgeable a clinician might be, if he or she is not able to open good communication with the patient, he or she may be of no help” (Asnani, MR. 2009). Effective communication plays a big role in healthcare and contributes to the quality of patient care and teamwork.
This week I decided the behavior I’d choose to violate would be physical appearance and space. I decided on violating these specifically because I felt like these specific nonverbal communication behaviors would generate the most amounts of different reactions from those around me. I also took this as a bit of a challenge for myself as I see myself as someone who is very aware of my physical appearance at all times as well as respectful with it comes to others personal space, so breaking two of my own nonverbal behavior “rules” would be something different and out of character for me.
Nationalism started a small war between Serbia and Austria-Hungary. Through alliances, imperialism, and militarism more countries joined creating a bigger war called World War One. A total war is a war which mobilizes the whole population and all available resources, while also covering a wide geographic area. World War One had a wide geographic area, the whole population was mobilized, and the government controlled all aspects of daily life/economy, therefore, World War One was a total war.
The 2012 presidential election finally reached its conclusion late Tuesday night on November 6th, as the incumbent Barack Obama won a second term in the White House over the challenger Mitt Romney. The election, with its reputation as the most expensive presidential race in history, attracted wide attentions not only from the United States but also from many other countries around the globe (Confessore & McGinty, 2012). The election was also noted with a numerous number of debates and discussions in both online and offline about the two candidates’ policies and pledges on every level. However, while a lot of attention was paid to the candidates’ verbally expressed speeches and pledges, the candidates’
