Machiavelli is a formulator of modern political thought, sadly he didn’t receive the appreciation and recognition that he receives presently. There are many concerns and issues that
Machiavelli declares that are still relevant today. One being diverse governed regimes, another is regimes changing their policies through different times and circumstances and another is always being prepared and trained for battle and war and knowing your surroundings well.
Many nations today prepare for war more than any other expense in their agendas. A great source to this conclusive reasoning would be the United States. “The fiscal year 2015 the
U.S congress set up to spend fifty-five percent of their 1.16 trillion on the military, the other forty-five percent

Florence. Niccolo Machiavelli, born to a scholarly father at the dawn of the reign of Lorenzo the
Magnificent, was also destined for a civic career until the armies of the King of France invaded
Italy in 1494. His anger and helplessness at witnessing his beloved city lose its independence would color his opinions for the rest of his life. By 1498, Florence was free of foreign invaders,
Savonarola's theocracy and Medici dictatorship, and the leaders of the city wanted to resurrect
Republican government. Machiavelli worked at the Chancery of the Republic of Florence.

Christopher Columbus was a well-known traveler who originated from Italy. Christopher Columbus had a legacy that was troubled with disagreements for reason of his treatment towards the native population. His journeys encouraged mass amount of Europeans to obtain interest in taking over the Americas. Throughout his letter written to Sant’ Angel, Columbus explains his emotion in being very satisfied with the results he has revised throughout his first voyage. Christopher Columbus then goes into detail concerning his appreciation to the royal King and Queen, Ferdinand and Isabella as he mentions, “I passed over the Indies with the fleet which the most illustrious King and Queen, our lords, gave to me” (Columbus 8). Christopher Columbus creates a powerful image for the King and Queen because he trusts that the maintenance of Ferdinand and Isabella throughout his journey was an incredible aspect that resulted in his spectacular accomplishment.
As King of Spain Charles became ruler of many greater and lesser European states. He was the heir of three of Europe's leading dynasties, Habsburg Monarchy, Burgundian Netherlands, and the Crowns of Castile and Aragon. From Spain he ruled over large areas in Central, Western, and Southern Europe, and the Spanish colonies in the Americas and Asia. Charles was the first king to rule Castile, León, and Aragon at the same time. In 1519, Charles became Holy Roman Emperor and Archduke of Austria.
“Once upon a time there was an Italian/and some people thought he was a rapscallion/ but he wasn't offended…” Christopher Columbus, was indeed a “rapscallion”. He was an Italian man, born in 1435. The queen of Spain sponsored his journey to sail and explore. In 1492, sailing across the sea in hopes of finding India, Columbus found a whole new world, with new species of plant animals, and even new people. He is a controversial figure, even today; his actions in 1492 having had what some see as grave repercussions. When he came over to the Americas with his crew, all he brought to the people who were living their lives normally, was disease, starvation, slavery and ultimately death; he was credited with the taming of the Americas, as if the natives

To many, the name Lorenzo de Medici just sounds like an irrelevant Italian man. At a closer look, Lorenzo was one of the most important people in the history of Italy. Born to Lucrezia Tornabuoni and Piero di Cosimo de ' Medici, Lorenzo ruled Florence from 1469 until his death in 1492 after his father’s death. He helped make Florence the most important city-state from 1469-1492. Lorenzo de Medici was the most important ruler of Florence because he formed political alliances to protect his people, he was a strong supporter of education, and he was an advocate to many great artists.
Christopher Columbus’s life was filled with adventures and new beginnings that would leave a remarkable impression throughout history. Born in 1451 in Genoa, Columbus from an early age would become well acclimated to sailing as he began his career aboard a merchant ship and later study mathematics, astronomy, cartography, and navigation. Growing up and experiencing new thing Columbus began to come up with a plan different from all others to set sail across the Atlantic instead of going around the African continent. With his ideas being turned away from both Portugal and England it was Ferdinand and Isabella who took sympathy upon him and financial back his voyage as they both had hopes of gaining fame and fortune. In 1942, Columbus began his voyages and would carefully document each experience in the form of letters that would have a lasting impact on the world. I believe with the dramatic change in tones we see between the first and fourth letters it gives us the reader a true insight into Columbus’s mental and physical emotions over the years. Furthermore, these letters allow us to explore a part of history that is considered monumental while gaining information of what took place over a ten-year journey.
In 1494, the ruling Florentine family, the Medicis, was expelled. Shortly after their expulsion, Savanorola, a Dominican religious zealot, took control. During this time, Italy suffered from intense political conflict. The city-states of Florence, Milan, Venice, and Naples fought for control as did the papacy, France, Spain, and the Holy Roman Empire. Each tried to play others off of others and engaged in blackmail and violence.
Christopher Columbus was an Italian-born man that managed to win the favor and funding of the Spanish monarchy. With this funding, Columbus led the most well-known voyage in human history: the voyage to the New World in 1492. This voyage laid the foundation for future colonies and, eventually, many nations in the world. However, this voyage would not have gone past conceptualization if Columbus had not been supported by the Spanish monarchy. While a variety of factors affected the monarchy’s decision, the primary factors were Columbus’ experience in navigation, assistance Columbus received from Jewish supporters, and the capitulations laid out by Columbus himself.
With the numbers totaled the defense budget is currently sitting at a solid 3.5 percent of our GDP and there are still questions on how much more we can put in to make this country safe. The White House is calling for more money to be spent on national defense and their economists say that the United States can withstand a gross spending of somewhere around 9 to 10 percent of our GDP. The money to pay for any

First, Niccolo Machiavelli was born in Florence, Italy in 1469 at a time when the country was in political upheaval.
