National Honor Society Analysis

After getting the option to apply for a membership position in the National Honor Society making the decision to follow through with the application process was a simple one. The plethora of advantages the membership would provide for my education, community and character seemed well worth all that was required in the application process. The four pillars scholarship, leadership, character and service are what makes the members and the organization so successful. Scholarship, the academic study or achievement and the first of the four core values of NHS. Throughout my years so far in high school I have done my best to achieve proficient grades in all my classes.

I believe I would be a valuable member of the National Junior Honor Society because I meet many of the four pillars, scholarship, service, leadership, and character, which NJHS represents. I partake in many after extra-curricular activities such as, rec soccer, rec cheer leading, TAG, the middle school musical, district band, after school volunteering, and in the student government; service. For leadership I am in the student government for my class. My grades have never been lower than honors, and the previous marking period and this marking period I have retained high honors. I believe that I am a well-rounded person and very encouraging and helpful

I have always found being inducted into National Honor Society (NHS) as great privilege. NHS requires certain qualities to be withheld by the members, and the organization is based on four core elements: character, scholarship, leadership, and service. In order to be inducted, an individual must demonstrate each of these attributes and must continue to exhibit these qualities after induction. This organization has kept me involved with my school and community and has also made me a better person.

The pillars of National Honor Society, scholarship, leadership, service and character, are the foundation upon which each chapter and its’ members strive to better their community and school. Service is what creates the National Honor Society, the actions of one done in order to help others or the community without any monetary or material compensation. Scholarship, the commitment and desire to learn; leadership, the initiative to take action in order to create results for a group of individuals; and character, the distinction that sets an individual apart from others, are the defining criteria of members. I believe that I would be a good representative for the National Junior Honor Society because I represent the five qualities of a member of the organization: scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. I have leadership skills from programs like Girl Scouts, softball, and Student Council. I’ve volunteered in many service projects including Christmas bags for foster children, playing piano at a hospice center, volunteering at a food bank, teaching brownies (2nd to 3rd graders) how to camp at a Girl Scout camp, passing out flowers to rooms in a hospice center, and passing out care packages to the homeless. I have amazing citizenship skills such as following rules and laws in not only the classroom but in my community, teaching

Interwoven into my life, effectively making myself who I am today, are a series of uncountable elements and details, among which, and perhaps most importantly, include the four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Each of these characteristics of a member of the NHS are ones that I proudly exhibit each day of my life and hope to continue to uphold for as long as I may live. Scholarship, the commitment to learning that one shows at school and in life, is one that can only be achieved by spending the necessary time in the expedition for knowledge and understanding in the world, which only can be attained by commitment, dedication, and exertion in the completion of work that is always to the best of one’s ability. I believe that I demonstrate the attribute of scholarship most fully in my daily life at school, for I always put forth my best work and spend the best amount of time in research and labor, regardless of whether my work will be graded or not.

Thank you for my invitation to be a member of the Horseheads Chapter of the National Honor Society; I consider it a tremendous honor. It motivates me to continue to excel and succeed in my education and in life. I believe that I have exceptional character, as well as a satisfactory service history. I admit that my leadership qualities need work, but my exposure to others in the National Honor Society will help. I trust that I would be an excellent inductee to the National Honor Society, since I always strive to be the best person that I can be and commit 110 percent into all my obligations.

National Honors Society has demonstrated how impactful it is to help out at school and in the community. While doing my community service in various events throughout my junior and senior year, I’ve become aware that National Honors Society has impacted me and the community. I recognized that volunteers positively influence the community. During events volunteers play a major role in community events. Without the help of volunteers many events wouldn’t be possible. I’ve volunteered in events from NHS and also other events in my community, learning that it feels great being part of many events and into making them a good experience for the people involved. Joining the National Honor Society will provide me with the skills to apply myself towards helping the community of Manassas Park. As a junior, I wish to challenge myself towards furthering my ambitions. Contributing to NHS would allow me to bring my skills from volunteering and my experience job shadowing and use them to help the community of Manassas Park. Volunteering and job shadowing has helped me feel a greater sense of pride and identity towards myself. As a determined, respectable student , joining NHS will allow myself to grow and contribute to my community. Finally, NHS would benefit from my calm, dependable attitude and I am thankful for the opportunity to be included in this distinguished organization.

I am deeply honored to be one of the students who are being considered for the Math and Science Academy chapter of the National Honor Society. Being a part of NHS has been something that I have been looking forward to ever since I got into high school. I know a few people who were or are in this society, and they are always telling me how rewarding it is to be a part of such a remarkable organization. Currently, as a sophomore, I feel that the past year of high school has enormously shaped my character; improved my leadership skills; challenged me academically; and

National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society alike have provided the best opportunities for personal growth for a few reasons. As members, we sacrifice our time for the betterment of others. It is rewarding to help those in need without seeking credit.​ National Honor Society allowed me to reach out to those very close and dear to me in the community, while National Technical Honor Society helped me reach out to communities outside of Dansville, that I would have never had the opportunity to help otherwise. Both chapters were very influential in developing maturity, accountability, and selflessness. National Junior Honor Society will be a great opportunity for me. If I am accepted into NJHS I plan on keeping up my 4.0 average, balancing between school and outside of school activities, continuing to help my community/peers, and creating a specific idea to make a positive impact at the school. Being in National Honors Society is something that I have always wanted to be apart of since I was in primary school. Being in it my 8th grade year was very inspiring on helping me build my citizenship goals, which later helped me get a job and be a good role model to others. 8th grade year being in NHS we had many important task to fulfill. Setting up majority of the school dances and rewarding students for their positive outlooks along with their uplifting attitudes. Leaving middle school, becoming a freshman, I knew I wanted to be a lifelong member with NHS. Everyday, countless amounts of people are working hard, trying to change the world for the better. They are researching cures for cancer or taking twelve hour shifts to help keep oceans clean. There are people who are working towards a better world, and making life safe for the children in need, the animals in danger, and the men fighting for our country. Seeing these changes happen has motivated me to want to be a part of these developments. I wish to serve those around me, and believe that if I can have a positive impact on my community, it can affect the rest of the world. Therefore, I have made it my goal to be a part of the National Honor Society, in hopes that I can help my school, Middleville, and all who have impacted me. I believe that I represent the characteristics of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, and hope to use these qualities so that others may benefit.
