The Caesar Rodney School district contains opportunities for all students of different backgrounds. When entering their school for the first time, one instantly knows that the school is their new home away from home. From the moment I entered the district in 7th grade, I understood that the school was behind me every step of the way. As a result, I have become not only more educated, but a more connected person to my teachers, my peers, and my activities. The National Honor Society offers me an opportunity to provide for my school what the school provided for me. Each of the four pillars in NHS, Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service, have influenced the decisions I make and the new choices ahead of me. These men and women led the way to do what they have done, whether showing their leadership in the business world, the political landscape, or the high school classroom. I know that I have been a leader for my peers, just as they have been for me. When preparing for a presentation for the Delaware State Student Council, I found a quote by Tom Peters, a writer on business management principles, which really resonated with me. “Leaders don’t create followers, they create more leaders”. I have, since then, done what the quote says, and have built leaders in my peers and my friends. The ability to serve without requesting or expecting any reward or payment requires a type of character that exemplifies the meaning of being a member of the National Honor Society. When many think of volunteering, their initial idea is of people helping their local community, by cleaning up public roads or helping fundraiser for a worthy cause. I myself volunteered for a time at the Dover Public Library. However, service does not limit one to helping the community. I have created a YouTube channel, specifically designed to help educate for free those who cannot afford the books and private classes that some may need for academic improvement. APFORTEENS is, on the surface, targeted at those who take Advanced Placement Exams. However, the content can be useful for everyone who wishes to learn about many things, whether history, economics, or the sciences. My hope is that I can continue to provide educational content for the viewers and expand on the topics that I have taught so far, and provide for my local and national community as a member of the National Honor
