This TV show portrays real life of common people and draws sympathy of audiences. It says it’s OK to mourn breakups and unfortunate reality of being unemployed is not a shame. In general, hubris is defined as having excessive pride or overconfidence, which can eventually lead to a downfall. Candide begins as a full supporter of optimism because of his Professor, Pangloss, who taught him Leibniz optimism, but because of Martin and their travels together, Candide becomes more and more of a skeptic. Through the misfortunes of others that Candide witnesses, and how the pessimist in the book compared to the optimist are ridiculed much less, we see how Voltaire was a skeptic of absolute optimism and against Leibniz’s idea of optimism that God created the best possible world.
