In his article “If We’re Gonna Have Guns, Let’s Get ‘em Out in the Open--Or Else,” Mike Royko utilizes a satirical tone to express how he feels the gun law passed in Kennesaw, Georgia is a childish and impractical one. This law, which was passed in the early 1980s, requires all citizens to have a gun and ammunition in their homes. The first example demonstrated is the utilization of diction. In his article, Royko uses words such as “obvious,” blazing away,” and “meet his maker” which expresses a childish and satirical attitude toward the subject. This shows that Royko didn’t take the Kennesaw gun law seriously and felt that it was a childish and impractical one. Another technique used was a the contradictory statement, “That might surprise

In general, hubris is defined as having excessive pride or overconfidence, which can eventually lead to a downfall. In the past, Greeks described hubris as direct defiance of the gods wishes, however, the meaning of hubris has developed over time. Today, hubris is seen more as having a lack of humility or blind arrogance that leads an individual to believe that they are above typical human limitations, essentially godlike. One such individual that exhibits this ill-appealing quality is the current president of the United States, Donald Trump. Over the last couple of years, and since beginning his term in office, President Trump has displayed excessive pride, arrogance, and self-confidence through his political rallies, press conferences, demeaning tweets, and much more. Unlike the leaders before him, our president is simply “…a real estate developer known for golf courses, casinos, and a Moscow beauty pageant; he’s a gambler with other people’s money who exhibits poor judgment” (Blake, “Trump Sharing Highly Classified Information with Russia Shows His Extreme Hubris”). Examining President Trump’s decisions and the examples of hubris presented in Sophocles’ “Oedipus Tyrannus”, Andrew George’s “The Epic of Gilgamesh: the Babylonian Epic Poem and Other Texts in Akkadian and Sumerian” and the “Holy Bible: New International Version”, shows that his hubristic character will result in a tragic end for him and the entire nation alike.

The article Emotional Obama Tearfully Thanks Trump For Granting Him Citizenship is satirizing how Donald Trump is most concerned about confirming everyone's citizenship in America; he determines this by racially profiling people. Anyone would want to satirize Donald Trump because he is extremely rude, his rules are obscured, and he is tremendously insulting. In the satire that was created it talks about how Obama wanted to thank Donald Trump for confirming his citizenship in America.

Today, mostly everyone has a television at home. Who doesn't? Yet, had we considered what effects television does to us when we spend hours watching it for a long while? The satire Candide was written in 1758 and distributed in 1759 by Voltaire, a French philosophe who didn’t take anything too seriously. The quote “You’re a bitter man,” said Candide. “That’s because I’ve lived,” said Martin”(p. 59) shows the tension and differences between the pessimism of Martin and the philosophy of optimism indoctrinated into Candide by Pangloss. Candide begins as a full supporter of optimism because of his Professor, Pangloss, who taught him Leibniz optimism, but because of Martin and their travels together, Candide becomes more and more of a skeptic. Through the misfortunes of others that Candide witnesses, and how the pessimist in the book compared to the optimist are ridiculed much less, we see how Voltaire was a skeptic of absolute optimism and against Leibniz’s idea of optimism that God created the best possible world.

The siren caresses his dainty fingers through Carden's coarse hair for a loving moment before grabbing a handful of it and flinging him onto his ass without remorse. Car growled playfully, it riled him up in all the right places when he had to work to have his lover. The word pleasant has never been used to describe Charles Bukowski, with his traumatic upbringing being the primary cause. His father was a tyrant, physically beating him for even the smallest offenses, and he was the victim of constant bullying throughout his school years. These events shaped Bukowski into the cold and desensitized writer the public has come to know and appreciate for his blatant honesty. Though violent imagery and vulgar diction are typically what characterize Bukowski, his work, specifically in poems like “The Crunch,” reveal a deeper portrait of the author, one that depicts the truths of urban life and the American Dream, as well as the shift that occurred in his works in relation to his impending death.
The president of zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe is my main satire target. He was the prime minister of Zimbabwe since 1980 after Zimbabwe became independent from Britain. He then became president of Zimbabwe in1987 and still is by using fraud, voter indentation, and violence to silence the people. He is also the head of state in the world. Zimbabwe has been declining over the years. Currently, 72.3% percent of the population are under poverty line. Life expectancy in zimbabwe is only 58 and 95 percent of the population is unemployed. Even though the country is near complete ruined he still not willing to step down.
