I’m going to be aware of the minorities in my classroom to help them fit in and make friends because it is difficult to be singled out because you’re different. I plan to teach my students about diversity by recognizing different holidays and exposing them to the celebrations. I will incorporate diversity into my teaching whenever possible by recognizing accomplishment of different racist. With my instructions I plan for students to be successful when taking my assessments. I will use different forms of assessment such as quizzes, text, projects, portfolios, ect. I favor short quizzes given more often. Because I want to teach in a hands on way I value projects as an assessment. By using projects according to Piaget children learn best when they are actually doing the work themselves and creating their own understanding of what’s going on. Students learn best through hands on evolvement. An effective teacher will have her students actively engage in station, centers and projects. An effective teacher makes her students feel like they belong and are disciplined fairly. It is important to welcome the diversity of all students. It is important to assess students in an appropriate manner. This creates a positive learning environment for the students. I am a responsible, dependable, caring and energetic teacher who will be an asset to your school
I don’t just feel as if I am an exemplary candidate, I know I am an exemplary candidate, for the ranks of the National Honor Society. Growing up, I was nurtured to reinforce, academics, selfless service, and last, but certainly not least, character. You can ask anyone that has ever met me, I dislike not being challenged, I find it dull and unentertaining, I strive to do things that are difficult and I love to experience new situations.
Ethnic discrimination has been seen to be most illustrated in the recruitment, training and career development within the workforce of the NHS. In other words, it could be said that ethnic minorities such as the Black Ethnic Minorities (BME) suffer from unequal opportunities. In his survey The ‘‘Snowy White peaks’’ (2013) R.kline had come to the conclusion that from an academic point of view when solely focusing on grades in parallel with professions in the NHS , BME candidates (who undoubtedly met the recruitment criteria ) were not selected for final consideration. Moreover, this marking guide has not yet in any way been modified for the past several years or even been considered as a grave issue by most of the employers in the NHS.
Today I will be addressing three main topics for my NHS application. The three main topics consist of my main qualities/ beliefs, leadership, and service. I first want to thank the organization for this amazing opportunity. Throughout this essay I will highlight these three aspects character, leadership, and service in my life.
1. Why do you feel that you would be a strong candidate for the MaCS Program?
Being a candidate for the NHS is an honor itself, this shows how much I have progressed towards my academic goals, and it also shows that my hard work is finally being taken into consideration. Thanks to the NHS if I am given the opportunity to become a member, my devoted time and effort into my grades as well as my character will be recognized and be taken into the next level of success. Joining the NHS is very significant for me because it will take me a step closer to my future career goals. I think I should be admitted to such a prestigious group of academic achievement, because I show characteristics that will make a great nominee for the NHS, such as. My GPA has remained no lower than a 3.97 throughout the entire year, I did research on the college I wish to assist and according to the college if I keep the same effort that I give now there is not a doubt that I could attend my dream college. By joining the NHS I will probably get a higher chance of attending that university and I can assure this because I recently completed a personal project named “The Dream Board”, which is the career path I created
Between the years 2005 and 2008, the conditions of the appalling care managed to flourish in the main hospital that was serving the people of Stafford the surrounding regions. During this time, this hospital was under the management of the by a Board which had succeeded in leading its trust to the foundation trust status. This board had replaced its predecessors because of a number of concerns about how this board managed the hospital. Before the foundation trust was allowed to work, it was first scrutinized by the local Strategic Health Authority as well as the Department of Health. The results were that the foundation trust appeared to be compliant with the applicable standards which were being regulated by the Healthcare Commission (Healey & Lesneski, 2011). This new system was even rated by the NHS Litigation Authority for any risks which it might be having. The local group as well as the publics that scrutinized it failed to notice any problem with it. There were systemic failings that were reported. What shocked in the end was the fact that it was found that the system had some failures. Complains were being recorded by some patients and those who are close to them. People wanted to know why they have been failed so much (Espinoza, Ukleja & Rusch, 2010).
My academic background is unique coming from the Pharmaceutical Sciences Program and the Campuswide Honors Program at UCI. Very few students have completed both rigorous programs. The CHP is the best honors program in the UC system and the Pharm Sci curriculum is designed to give students exceptional preparation for pharmacy school. This has pushed me to be one of the most well-rounded Pharmaceutical Sciences students at UCI. I believe this gives me unique preparation for new and challenging curriculum in pharmacy school. It has also nurtured my love for learning in all disciplines and exposed me to topics outside of my major. Never have I been satisfied with completing the minimum requirements. I have always been the type of student that pushes myself to improve and consider new possibilities I have spent more time than most of my peers developing my
“The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves,” according to Ray Kroc. As a senior about to embark on the next journey of my life I hold myself to an extremely high standard. I strive for excellence and being an example for others. Although, when I fall short I take those moments to improve myself and to come closer to those standards the next day. I value being a leader in my community and school. I strive to be a respected leader by my peers, and emulate others possessing strong leadership qualities.
What is an effective teacher? Is it a teacher who is caring, compassionate, warming, and personable? Or is it a teacher who is good at planning, works well with other teachers/administrators, and self-disciplined? Many people would say that these qualities and characteristics would make an ideal teacher, and they would be correct. But these qualities alone are not enough to be considered an effective teacher.
Being given the opportunity to serve for NHS has greatly expanded my view on community service. Before joining NHS, I would only volunteer at threesquare, and occasionally at school events. Now, I have volunteered at a large variety of different places such as the Santa Run, other school’s carnivals, and even tutored other students in math. Volunteering at many different locations means that I am benefiting a lot people. For example, volunteering at the Santa Run benefited those who had arthritis.
I believe there are many skills and attributes that are necessary to an outstanding teacher; one’s ability to keep students engaged, the desire to see all students achieve, and knowledge of the content taught are attributes of an outstanding educator.
I am deeply honored to be recognized as an eligible candidate for the National Honors Society. After learning about the National Honor Society, and what the organization represented, I knew it was something I wanted to participate in. This organization works hard to better educational opportunities for students across the nation, and that is something I would like to play a part in to further the outstanding reputation of the NHS. I believe that this is an opportunity I deserve due to my recognizable hard work. I am aware that the NHS is known for recognizing students with outstanding grades and commendable characteristics, which is something I believe I have obtained throughout my years of hard work.
On June 4, 2012, the day of my brother’s graduation, I told myself I will graduate with cords around my neck. At the time, I did not know they represented The National Honors Society (NHS), but I sensed they had great importance.
I would love to participate in the Health Care seminar at the Appalachian Institute at Wheeling Jesuit University because of my passion for medicine and of my desire to have a career in the medical field. I have people in my life who are affected by the inability of receiving medical care due to financial reasons, and I want to be able to help reduce the barriers that keep health care from being accessible to all. I believe that this seminar will allow me a closer and fresh view of the limited health care issue, particularly for those in a rural setting. Also, this seminar would be beneficial for me in a number of ways, such as giving me a preview into the line of work I'm considering and enabling me to engage in service. I enjoy being involved
I am interested in public health because it is an interdisciplinary field that can have a powerful impact in the lives of people at the local, national, and global level. As a public health scholar, I had the opportunity to explore many of the public health settings (e.g., government, academia, school etc.) However, even with a background in the field—especially in chronic disease prevention and vulnerable populations—I have a lack of public health experience with community health centers. Thus, I decided to contact others who are working in community health centers. Ms. Alexis Thompson, an employee of the agency, has encouraged me to apply for the internship because the experience would help me gain the skills that I need in order to be involved in health screening; program planning and evaluation; and data collection and analysis.
