For my research, I have selected to review the Myers-Briggs type indicator personality test. The authors of the test are Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers. Katherine and Isabel are a mother and daughter team that worked on the test together. They were influenced by the Swiss psychologist, Carl Jung. In 1921, he published his ideas regarding different personality. Since Catherine and Isabel had many of the same ideas and agreed with his published work, they conducted research throughout the 40s, 50s and 60s in order to get additional information for their own test. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an evaluative personality tool that is widely used throughout the world today. It is important for a tool that is popularly utilized in a variety of fields and at numerous professional institutions worldwide to be a credible one. So, is the MBTI really the valid reliable personality inventory instrument it claims to be? Evaluating this tool will show that empirically sound evidence does not exist to support the MBTI as an accurate, reliable, or valid instrument for profiling one’s personality type.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Personality (MBTI) was developed by Briggs Myers and her mother Katharine Cook Briggs in 1943 during the onset of World War II (Ham, 2016). Briggs recognized the need for psychological instruments that would value human differences and utilized the C G Jungs theory in creating the MBTI (The Story of Isabel Briggs Myers, n.d). According to The Myers & Briggs Foundation (2014) Myers and Briggs initially tested a group of 20 relatives and friends. They utilized such sample, because they thought they could predict their personality solemnly on observation which by observation. The initial random sample did not truly represent a whole population, but merely were used due to availability.

During the month of January, the Mktg 3100 class that I took part in, was given a Myers-Briggs characterization form to fill out. Because the Myers-Briggs results place me into two categories, I shall discuss this response to both ISFJ and ISFP character trait types. This paper will discuss my viewpoints, others viewpoints, and the characteristics on how it might affect the decisions I make with my activities, social, vocational life. The results of this examination were two because of how closely related my answers were to both types. Though this is a good ball-park estimate on what kinds of traits I may have, it is not perfect.

This purpose of this paper is to discuss my results from the Jung Typology Test in which my personality type is described as an ISFJ. I analyze and discuss what each letter of my personality type means. I also discuss I how can apply what I have learned about my personality within the workplace. There are four preferences in the Myers Briggs Personality Type: (1) Extraversion and introversion, (2) sensing and intuition, (3) thinking and feeling and (4) judging and perceiving (Personality Page, n.d.). Psychologist David Keirsey was the creator of the theory of temperament which is associated with personality type.

Personality is a complex area of Psychology, which has been studied for many years, by many experts in the field. Each having their own ideas about how to understand, study and evaluate it. Here I will introduce personality briefly, looking at the theories behind it. Then explain the need for testing. As there are many test that are available to use, for the purpose of this essay I will look at The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) and discuss the reliability and validity of some studies around these tests.

This upcoming presidential election includes a diverse pool of candidates, with a wide variety of opinions coming from different backgrounds. There is one candidate that stands out among the rest: Vermont senator Bernie Sanders. He has decades of experience in politics, which is immensely important for someone holding the position of President. During his time in public service he has demonstrated that he is committed, strong, productive, fair, and honest. Sanders relies on his policies and ideas significantly more than flaunting a charming personality to gain support, and he is able to do this because he has always put a lot of consideration into the decisions he makes. Furthermore, he has always been a strong supporter of quality of opportunity, which is the political ideal advocating the view that the assignment of individuals to places in the social hierarchy is determined by some form of competitive process; all members of society are eligible to compete on equal terms. As president, Sanders would take many steps toward improving this aspect of society. He recognizes that currently there is great disparity in the balance of power, and he has consistently fought towards making the U.S.A. a country where everyone is well taken care of and has access to what they need. If Sanders becomes president, he will fight for everyone to have an equal chance of achieving their own American Dream.

Sexuality and sex in America is a complicated subject in that there is little consensus on the topic of sex in, and the American media sends many mixed messages regarding sex and sexuality to everyone, not just to adolescents. Americans are aware of sex primarily through advertising (print media, commercials, etc.) as sex is used to sell anything and everything. The media also bombards Americans with sexuality and sex on television and in films. The sexuality of teenagers is not a straightforward issue in America either. Many parents do not discuss sex or sexuality with their children. There have been ongoing debates as to whether sexuality should be taught as part of school curricula because there are such a great deal of adolescents participating in reckless and/or dangerous sexual behaviors, largely because they are grossly uneducated about sex. The paper will reference the film Juno and other texts as a meditation on the relationship between adolescent sexuality and the media.

As human beings, we different from one another. We are created with a lot of character traits. We all can gain knowledge about our own personalities, we develop our perceptive about strengths and weaknesses, and clarify what we truly value as individuals. The Myers Brigg personality assessment classified me as an Introvert, Sensing, Feeling, and Perceiving (ISFP) personality type. Results showed slightly Introvert 16 %, sensing 12%, feeling 19%, and perceiving 3%. Throughout this paper I will analyze the diverse parts of my own personality traits and how those traits have effected both my personal and my working environment.

John Adams once said, “Thanks be to God that he gave me stubbornness when I know I am right”. John Adams, like myself was introverted, intellectual, thinking, and judging, or an INTJ on the Myers Briggs personality test. Like all INTJs, Adams was stubborn and flouted the ideas of others that he did not agree with. By using my results from the Meyers Briggs personality test, I can examine how I react to certain things and use this to improve my Spirituality, my relationship with God, and ultimately my relationship with others through Christ.

When speaking of a protagonist, the most natural assumption is that this refers to the main character of a story, the hero. If I said “Issa Imperial is a protagonist” this would paint an image of her as someone that is at the center of attention. However, that is not the case. The “protagonist” I am referring to is the protagonist personality according to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). The protagonist, according to MBTI, is a person that is a natural-born leader, that is charismatic, reliable, altruistic, and tolerant. Although, the two “protagonists” imply similar characteristics, the former suggests that the subject is in the limelight, whereas the latter does not.

According to the Myers-Brigg Type Indicator, I have a ENFP personality type. The description of this personality type is very similar to mine in most aspects. Change is a thrill for me in that it keeps life interesting. However, sometimes I can loathe it if the change isn’t logical and rational. The idea of only having one way to do something irritates me, because there is always a better way to do something. If you were to open my backpack right now, you would think that it’s a disaster, because it started off as the most organized thing until it underwent a natural disaster. I don’t agree with mixing work and leisure. Work and leisure don’t resemble the same activity for me. For leisure, I enjoy drawing and listening to music and don’t consider it work.

The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) enables an individual to gain a deeper insight into their inherent personality traits. For some people, they have had prior knowledge or underlying assumptions about their personality, but this test provides clearer information about each of their identifiable traits. According to the MBTI in Human-metric personality test, my scores were 22% (E) extroverted thinking more than introverted, 9% (N) intuitive as oppose to sensing, 16% (T) thinking more than feeling, and 12% (J) judging as compared to perceiving. Thus, my personality type is ENFJ. The ENFJ personality group is described as a minority group that consists of natural-born leaders, and people filled with passion, and charisma for example, Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey; they are notable members of this group, also known as the protagonists (16personalities, 2016). The protagonists apprehend pride in providing guidance for others to improve individually and to improve the community at large (16personalities, 2016). The protagonists find it naturally easy to communicate with others and excel at communicating with other people in person (16personalities, 2016).
