Throughout the course of freshmen year I have developed different skills and opinions on writing. I feel I have created a more mature style of writing and a better understanding of literature. I have changed my view of writing over this semester and acquired a strong liking for it. The importance of writing has become more visible throughout the past few months. Writing is crucial in many aspects of a person’s life. I have grown to be a more powerful and well built writer throughout this course. My greatest writing accomplishments over the semester are the persuasive paper on social media and my research paper over the DREAM Act. The research paper was my first big accomplishment. I felt I presented a well developed essay and had strong focal
I believe I have made tremendous progress as a writer from the beginning of the year. I feel as though I am a total different person as a writer than I was at the beginning of the year. I know I have made progress in the area of citing sources and knowing whether or not the sources are reliable or not. I think I have come along way from the beginning of this course.
While attending writing class, I learned about the 4 steps in writing, bases for revising, organizing, and connecting specific information, and I also learned about the different types of essays such as descriptive, narrative, process, cause and effect and argumentative essay. I have been a student at Milwaukee Area Technical College for 1 semester, and over the course of my enrollment I have grown and learned more that I knew prior to attending this writing course. Participating in this writing class has taught me so much more than stuff about literature and language, it has taught me another way of expressing myself. I have learned here how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find the answers to the things that I don 't know. Most importantly I have learned how important technique, outlines and organization are. My goal in this paper is to inform writers about how my writing skills have improved.
College writing to me is a new chapter in my life. I am only a junior in high school, which means I have quite a ways to go when it comes to learning and maturing as a person. As I take on this new chapter I expect to see my writing change along with me, for I’ll have new experiences and feelings to put forth in my writing.
This semester I was surprised by how much I actually learned and developed my writing skills. I was given the opportunity to learn the many steps that it is required to become a good writer. Writing requires a lot of work. It consists of various steps; prewriting, drafting, rewriting, proofreading and publishing. . All of these components are extremely important, and necessary, and will need to be follow to improve student’s writing.
Writing is an essential part of learning and is a skill that we all have to master over time, especially throughout our years dedicated to school. As a writer I feel comfortable in my ability to write and express my feelings over a topic. Even though I feel this way, I know there are several things I need to improve before I can be completely satisfied with my writings. This year I feel I will be able to accomplish this goal. In order to do this I will write about many different topics and use many different forms of writing. In the past I have written lots of pieces involving various stories, recollections, and reports. Through these experiences I have been able to develop a basic understanding of a few different types of writing styles, vocabulary and the many tones you can use to set the mood. By learning these things and reading the works of other authors, I have been able to expand my vocabulary and make the overall process of writing much easier to perform at a high level. Even though all of these things have helped me greatly, I still have a lot of things to learn in order to improve my writing.
Preceding spring semester, I had never been in a formal college-level writing class. As I am finishing up my sixth week of this semester, I am discovering what all is involved in writing. To write is not simply to put words on a paper; writing requires a developing story laid out in smooth, well transitioned paragraphs, with a strong conclusion.
1. Maturity is a strong character trait that I pride myself in having, which gives me the ability to be organized and in control of my work. I aim to complete my assignments sooner than later and I do so by prioritizing my tasks. I have learned to use technology to my advantage by utilizing a calendar and setting reminders on my phone. I have also found using a written daily planner has been helpful in remembering my assignments. During the summer between my freshman and sophomore years, I chose to take an online Honors Biology course. I completed the class and all of its requirements at home without supervision and achieved a grade of 98. Accomplishing this shows my maturity to manage my deadlines and academic interests.
Life is an open book, which everyone motivates to read to the end with an expectation of positive outcome. However, life is also full of challenges for everyone. One has to overcome one’s own obstacles, so he/she could reach to successful. As a student in college, writing skills are really important; it helps to provide a solid foundation for one before climbing up to higher level. During the first year of college, I begin to see the importance of writing skills, I try to improve my writing skills through practice drafting, revising, and editing.
What's mine is yours. Having lived a year in a student hostel I understood this phrase was the best to describe my first year student life. We shared everything: all of bright spots, all of difficult moments, all of the books and all of the cakes. My roommates are my best friends now and I trust them as I would myself. I believe amazing adventures and close friendship are waiting for us too! Also I believe, my dear roommate, you’ll get at least one new hobby living with me. I promise I’ll share to you with my frenzy for mountains. Oh, that’s really amazing! I’m a participant of the university tourist all around team(sports tourism university team member) and every weekend we get to go to incredibly picturesque places of Zailiyskiy Alatau.
From the first taste of accomplishment we go on to set new goals, and the goals we set aren’t only for the accomplishments and accolades that come with them- but most importantly for self-contention to be the best we can be, to be great. Well my first taste of accomplishment came from an orange sphere and a hoop as a child. On my 5th birthday, my old man brought home a basketball hoop, not knowing what it was, I was intrigued at first sight. Looking back, as an avid sports lover now, I can tell you that whether it had been a basketball, soccer ball, baseball, lacrosse ball, football, a punching bag, a pool, or a track, the first taste of accomplishment comes from the first pass, shot, goal, touchdown, hit, run, or leap, and from there you
I have had a lot of good accomplishments in my life but this one really sticks out to me. Last year I was a vocational student and I was in a program where I could get my CNA. I never really thought I was going to be able to do it because there was so much to do in the class and so much to learn in just one year. I remember my first day of clinical's and I was really nervous. Then it went by so fast and before I knew it was my last day of clinical's and learned so much in such a short period of time. Then it was test day and I had to put all the thing's I learned about being a CNA into this test and I didn't think I was going to pass it. We didn't know are scores for a week. Then they day came where we go to find out if we were a CNA and I passed.
Throughout my life, I feel like I have been pretty successful. I have been able to accomplish some of my personal goals, while both being able to give back to my community and plan for my future. I hope that my with the success I have had already, will help me have an even more successful life in the future.
It’s hard to believe that it’s already the end of the second quarter. Half of my junior year has passed by and the AP Language & Composition exam is only a short one-hundred and eighteen days away. But in the past four months, I have been able to develop the skillsets needed to analyze and comprehend works of literature and conquer the AP exam. This second quarter has definitely brought growth in my ability to analyze and comprehend literature; however, I also experienced some stagnation in my writing abilities.
Following some time spent on reflection, I realize I learned to appreciate more than I expected from this class. I enrolled in this class with the idea that I would most enjoy reading stories, watching movies and analyzing each of them. Before attending this class, I honestly did not give as much consideration to the writing process as I should have. As a consequence, most of my efforts to adequately express my more passionate ideas failed. Essentially, like Sheriff Bell from the book No Country for Old Men, I felt overwhelmed and I had to accept that I was not prepared to obtain the result I had envisioned. Understandably, I admire writers who can effectively present their ideas and produce the outcome they chose. If I eventually master each of the steps in the writing process, not only will my writing improve but also my enjoyment of writing will increase because I will have the skills to satisfactorily share my perspective. Accordingly, I came to understand I need to increase my proficiency within several areas of the writing process if I want others to fully comprehend and appreciate my efforts to communicate my ideas. Though I cannot claim that my other cross-circular outcomes, such as critical thinking skills, are perfect, what I came to appreciate from this class is the importance of the writing process.
Throughout this semester in Composition 1, I believe my writing skills have improved drastically. During the semester I have met the five goals of the semester course. Also, I have learned about how I write and how to improve my writing to get ready for college.
