In today’s day and age, everyone that you talk to seems to have a strong political identity. They are either with one side or another and have a strong reason as to why they side with the side that they do. I know that this is not that normal for the times that we are in. I know that being 22 years old that in the eyes of many, I should really have a side and be able to stand with that side and be able to defend why I stand with that side. Following the 45th presidential election I have found that it is even more uncommon to not have a strong political stance and I have been told over and over that I really need to form one and stand with it. I would have to say that I have never truly had a strong sense of politics, and sadly I have …show more content…
I say that I am not a republican and I am also not a democrat, I do not feel that my beliefs strongly fit in just one party. I stand with whichever candidate I agree with more and who I believe will have the greater impact in a positive way on this society. However, I make it clear that I do not stand with one party, rather I stand with whichever candidate that I can relate to more, and who I feel will make a positive impact. I would have to say that prior to this year, I have had no political view what so ever. I did not find a need to gain my own political opinion, because I couldn’t vote till this past election, and without being able to vote I did not see a reason to truly gain my own political identity. This past semester I took a class called, political psychology. This class is the first political class that I have taken and it started the process to help me start to form a political view. This class opened my eyes to both sides and what they truly stand for. I was able to sit and see why different people agreed with both parties and why they did not agree. This class allowed me to freely and with my own opinion start to gain a sense of my own political
I am going to tell you my Political Ideology in this essay today. I would like to consider myself a Conservative, but the number one thing for me would be what that person said and what they planned on doing. If anything, I don't really care if they are Liberal or Conservative, what really matters is what they are planning on doing, but I guess I'm going to have to decide what I am. A Liberal... Conservative... or Libertarian.
From the road that we drive on to the air that we breath, every aspect of our life is influenced through politics-positive or negative. Majority of people that i know claim that they are not political, but it is safe to say that it is impossible to not be political, being that we are “by nature political animal(s)”.
After learning about the different sides and actually understanding their views I can see more clearly now how I seem to identify with both parties. When we took the quiz in the beginning of the unit, I had really no idea about the difference between a Republican and Democrat besides that one was more conservative and other was more liberal not even knowing the differences between the political ideologies and the political parties. When I talk about politics with people, I feel that knowing where I stand on the political spectrum will be helpful to me because I will be able to make more educated statements and viewpoints to others within this
I took three quizzes, the ‘Political Typology Quiz’, ‘The Political Party Test’ and the ‘I Side with Presidential Quiz’, to determine my own political identity. Each of the quizzes had a myriad of questions that ultimately resulted in a final result displaying my political standpoint. The first two quizzes resulted in a product of ‘Young Outsider’ and ‘Independent’, two identities that are not completely partial to neither of the two major groups, the conservatives nor liberals. Each considered politically neutral. The third quiz; however, stated that I shared various viewpoints with two major Democratic candidates, Hilary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. But, I still had a portion of my views in connection with Donald Trump and Ben Carson, two
Just as parents influence their children to learn a second language, I was raised to learn the language of politics. I soon became intrigued about our democracy and learned about our political system on the media, in school, and from my parents. After learning both sides of politics and obviously being influenced by my parents, I choose to be associated with the political right’s beliefs. To this day, I have strong opinions on immigration policies, the second amendment, healthcare, foreign policy, and many other issues. On the other hand, there is one issue that makes
Then my junior year of high school is when my beliefs and opinions started to take shape. I became extremely fascinated with politics and landed my first internship with republican State Senator Guy Reschenthaler. I have realized that younger generations follow in the footsteps of their parents in political views but I was different, my parents are both democrats and I am a republican.
The political socialization in developing my thoughts by watching television and social media and talking to my peers played a significant role when putting together what I believed about politics in some way It push me to believe what the media were talking about the candidate
When I was in my Government class in high school, I took a test in class to see where in the political spectrum I was in. When I counted all my answers, I came to the bar and saw that I was in the middle but learning to the left. That was when I officially identified myself as a liberal. Before then politics were a boring stuff that adults fuss and quarrel about. After getting that title, I started looking things differently, every time I observe a political issue I would just see which side a liberal is supposed to be at and say I support it. Since I believed myself to be on the left. I never for one second thought, a sane person could be on the right. They are all crazy old white racist men was what I was told. It was not until I took a GOV
Today, I look back to everything that has happened and how did I come to the thoughts and opinions I have about politics. Family was a primary influence in the development of my political orientation, mainly due to constant relationship between my parents and I. Schools became a source to enforce what I been hearing at home. Then Mass Media took over and tried to paint a picture of functions as a political information-giver to adolescents and young children. With placing political figures in everyday life and association with political parties, I can only imagine what their goal was. The earliest
After taking the, Political Party Quiz, I checked the results and found out I stand very far to the right on the political spectrum. This surprised me mostly because the majority of my family falls further on the left side. Researching the issues on the quiz soon after I realized that I have been exposed to many of these prior to the quiz. While on some of the issues I had a sure answer, there were quite a few that I hadn’t really ever heard of.
Nonetheless, in the future when I am married and have children I am certain that I will hold stronger opinions in regards to economic globalization and the importance of corporation regulations. I believe that once you start a career and have a family your priorities shift and life experiences help shape your political ideologies. Though, I do hold views about the world, economy, personal social values, and society it
There are many influences on my political beliefs and actions. There are four main areas define who I am politically. Those areas are the Environment, Agents of Political Socialization, Personal Characteristics, Personality and Human Nature.
In my life I have never had any political enforcement or strict religious influence. My parents were very lenient when it came too political preaching. I was taught to be a caring and respectful individual. My political understanding and beliefs have been molded from my early political memories and socialization experiences. As a young adult I have always strived to become knowledgeable about political ideals mainly because I was never really taught to believe in something specific. I eventually was drawn towards many different social and political perspectives, which is how I came to a logical conclusion of how I view the world politically
I went into Government class thinking I knew a lot about government. I quickly figured out there was a lot I had to learn. I am very glad I was required to take this class because without taking it, how would I know how everything works or know how I am affected by the government? My beliefs didn’t change nor did the political party I identify myself with but I have a much better understanding about what goes on in our Country. I learned much more than I thought I would learn, from the ways someone can become president, to how a bill becomes a law, to who were considered to be the best presidents.
One aspect of my life that has shaped my political views is my religious background. I grew up in a Baptist family, and used to go to church regularly. As I got older, I started going to church less and less because the things my pastor said made me feel very uncomfortable. At the time, I did not understand why I felt so uncomfortable and it was not until I got older that I realized why I felt the way I did. Majority of the time, my pastor said things that had sexist and homophobic undertones. Despite being in a holy place, I spent the duration of my time as a member of the church feeling disconnected from everything, which eventually led to me breaking ties with the church completely.
