1. List the most significant strengths that you bring to the practicum based on preceding checklist.
Based on the strengths listed on the preceding checklist, I recognize that knowledge of the community context of the agency and self-awareness of how my values, beliefs, experiences impact work and other people are strengths that I possess.
2. What strengths not on this list do you bring to your practicum experiences?
My strengths that are not listed on the list that I possess are my faith, resilience to overcome adversity, and my self-determination to succeed.
3. What can you do to secure learning experiences that will build on your strengths?
The way I believe I can secure learning experiences that will build on my strengths is making
My personal strengths are that I am a keen learner and organized person because like Benjamin Franklin I believe that if I fail to plan then I am planning to fail. Above all I am confident that I have made the right choice and that I am a suitable candidate for
Several examples of a strengths i harbour are: I'm a self insured confident courageous individual.
When I finished, the StrengthsFinder’s Survey the five strengths that surfaced were no surprise. The first was deliberative. I have a career that I occupy now, and it requires precision and timing. I am a driver, and understanding how my equipment operates is critical in a high-pressure situation. I engage in a routine every morning, what pilots would call a preflight check. I check all compartments assuring everything is in the proper place and all equipment accounted for. Afterward, I would start the engine (fire truck) making sure all engine gauges, emergency lights, and fuel are in proper working condition.
I have been fortunate enough to have a variety of supervisors in my practicum placements. I had several female supervisors and one male supervisor who have all contributed to my training. The books and discussions in class brought up a discussion that I have never thought about before, which was the gender of the supervisor. However, one thing that I could say with certainty is that gender does play a role in the way supervisors conceptualize things. At my practicum there are gender misunderstanding that occur. The questions that are asked to me are different and more geared towards possible sexual countertransference, which makes me feel like I am treated with “kid gloves”. From my point of view there is a gender misunderstanding because
on the student’s differences, diverse cultures, and communities to implement an inclusive learning environment. After learning these standards and completing my practicum experience, I see the importance of these standards in the classroom setting. The practicum experience should me the importance of recognizing that all students learn differently, and a great teacher, especially Mrs. Bond, is able to provide instruction that helps all students succeed (Council of Chief State School Officers, 2011).
My personal journey in this practicum experience has been an eventful one. Once I started to get comfortable and had things down pact, it is all done with. It began with the curriculum writing project in which we were instructed to plan lessons for students that we did not have any background information on such as, prior knowledge on content or their abilities and it was rather challenging. It felt as if I was never done writing the CWP. The moment I thought that I was done writing the CWP, I had to make further changes. In the end, I learned to appreciate the CWP. Once I was in the classroom and started interacting with the students, I realized that my CWP was not developmentally appropriate for my targeted audience and the process of writing the CWP all started to make
I spend the last few weeks of my clinical practicum site at St. Joseph’s hospital. Our day starts at 6.30 a.m. in the morning assigning students to the different floors. The last week’s highlight was assisting students with their medication pass. We (myself and my preceptor) helped the students in identifying commonly prescribed medications (drug, class, generic names) and assisted them with medication administration following all rules of medication administration. We educated the students about the importance of reading the physician’s notes, checking orders, lab results, and even the importance of obtaining vital signs prior to medication pass. The students were a bit nervous initially as it was the medication pass check off day, but

For my practicum experience I am currently located at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital on the 4th floor pediatric inpatient rehabilitation floor. My floor is used for intense therapy including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. All patients we receive count as a new admission and must have special pre-authorization from their insurance. They also must require two types of therapy or more. Patients that come to our unit range from lower level to a higher level of care. Most of our patients switch off of intravenous medication one to two days after admission. Our unit can take a maximum of 6 patients, although we usually have around 3.
During my spring rotation at Peine Ridge Elementary, I have learned an immense amount of new information. This particular placement was different from my last itinerant roles due to the fact that it was a site based position. Paula Mathias, my cooperating teacher, sees two fifth grade girls in the morning at Peine Ridge Elementary and then travels to different schools in the afternoon. So that being said, most of my practicum experience was with fifth grade. Each student had a different type and degree of hearing loss. K.S has a moderate, conductive hearing loss and wears bilateral hearing aids, while S.B has a profound, sensorineural hearing loss and wears bilateral cochlear implants. Throughout my experience at Peine, I have summed up five
Throughout the course of my workplace practices class I have participated in a consisted of completing assignments and work experience regarding my career pathways. As I look back and reflect on my time at this course, I am able to explore the graduate qualities and capabilities I have achieved over the duration of this study period, as well as the skills and abilities I need to improve on. Graduate qualities are skills that have been learned by students throughout the course of their schooling life, for example, it is a learning outcome of a program specifically stating the things that's been learned by students who have completed that program of study. In this reflection, I will be discussing about my strength and weakness personal
Getting involved and understanding others will help me grow in my strengths and weaknesses. Other people also involved in the learning community will also be able to grow in their strengths and weaknesses.
After taking some time to reflect on my practicum I believe I would choose to participate in the experience again. I’ve learned information about myself and the type of work environment I value, as well as information about Student Veteran Services. Going in to the semester, I thought my opportunities to engage with the office would be more abundant then they were, but I still feel as if the overall experience was valuable. It was easy to reach the 100-hour total, however, I’m not sure that I would recommend this as a practicum site in the future. Mainly because Eric is a one-man team and it was hard for him to be completely present and engage in this experience.
Think about what you believe are your greatest strengths and attributes; what is it that you bring to the work place?
I believe my strengths are within the elements of Well-Structured Lessons, Safe Learning Environment, and Reflective Practice.
