My Personal Traditions

I tend to over analyze every situation and put too much pressure on myself to excel. I am a motivated individual who believes in working hard to achieve my goals. I can often get lost in a crowd and will often trust people too easily to a fault. I try to be friendly to everyone and I am not quick to judge. I am unselfish and try to put others before myself.

Friends say I am good willed and trustable — Generous, and kind. I describe myself as childlike, immature, and over sensitive at times. I am fond of riding my bike. Snowy or winter days are my favorite to bike on.

While I was brought up by a strict Christian mother, and still carry many of the values and beliefs from that religion, I have learnt from my father to me more of an omnist.

Research is fun, it’s like going for a scavenger hunt only the world wide web has your answer. In my profession, research is vital, laws change all the time and lawmakers do not have time to send you email updates. The first trait that describes me is that I seek and value harmony. People who seek and value harmony prefer a more democratic approach, and work hard to ensure that every voice and perspective is heard (INFP Personality). I can be intimidating. I have a hard time showing my feelings or affection. I find it very difficult to trust and am very private and guarded. I lack the ability to make those around me feel needed. My cousins and I also have family traditions. Every day of the NCAA championship we play against each other online. We also pop fireworks the day before the 4th of July. We use to Wrestle every night the show came on came on at night but we quit because we broke a table in the living room. Then we listen to song of rappers that have died on there birthdays.

My family has a lot of different traditions, but one stands out more than the others. The holiday I am talking about is Christmas. My family has always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We start the celebration by going to our church’s Christmas Eve service. During this service, we sing Christmas songs and watch a video of the first Christmas. After the service, all my family goes to my grandparents’ house to open presents and have supper. The meal is different than most Christmas meals. All of my family members bring an appetizer instead of bringing a main dish. One of my cousins is Haitian and one of uncles is Italian, so we have a lot of different cultures represented. My favorite is my uncle’s meatballs. Once we eat we have two different places to sit. One is called the kids’ room and the other is the adult room. You are supposed to sit at the kids’ table if you are not married. Once we have finished eating we all head to the living room to open presents. Before we open presents, one of my younger cousins reads a Christmas poem. A different cousin reads the story every year.

My character has both opened and closed many doors for me in life. Most of the time you will see that I'm very laid back and relaxed. Independence is one of my key qualities. I never like to bother people with my problems because ultimately they're not always going to be there for you. I roam around in silence; being loud and obnoxious is not something that has ever given me much success in life. I try to conquer a healthy and happy lifestyle, but you know how that usually goes. I am pretty athletic I believe because I have put in so much hard work and dedicated even more time to football throughout my eighteen years of life. I like to look at myself as a genuine, thoughtful young lady. I’m a hard worker; I believe nothing is ever handed to you so you have to go get it. I worked hard to get to this point of my life and working even harder to get to the successful and graduate part of my life. I care more for some others than I do myself but I have a huge nonchalant attitude. I don’t really show anger or sadness much I always smile because I’m optimistic about life. I look at life as if something bad comes along, no need to dwell on it you can’t take it back so just move-on and improve what you did wrong if it’s possible.

Every person has their own personality and have their own qualities, behaviour and thinking. When it comes to me, I would describe myself as a hard working, calm, patient and a friendly person. I would also describe myself as confident person when it comes to make choices and as a person who learns from failure. I am a person who works hard and puts all the efforts into any work that I’m working on. I always try to give my best and if I fail in something, I learn from my mistakes and keep trying until I reach my goal instead of giving up. I’m also a very friendly person and can work with other people around me with great ease. I get along with people very well even if I am meeting the person for the first time. When it comes to making decisions for myself I can stand up for myself and make a confident decision for myself. Sometimes it is very difficult to decide something but I don’t remember a time when I gave up because giving up is not my habit.

. This diagram tells exactly how is my personality. At work I am very conscientious employee. I like to finish the task I begin and I do it in an organized way. When I have issues at work I am always positive that we need to find a way to solve the problem. Another personality that describes me is Openness. My boss mentioned that to me in my last review. I like to start new projects and I am very creative adding new ideas. Sometimes I can be a little insecure of myself when I am in the middle of a difficult task; however, I try to do my best.

Another topic we discussed in class was the big 5 personality traits which are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. I think that I fall towards the middle in openness. I am very open to activities and thrilling adventures but I also am very set in my ways and don’t often like change. I think that I am very high on conscientiousness. I am reliable, hardworking, punctual and ambitious. I often think of others and I am a very organized person. I like things to be in order and know what to expect. I think that I am towards the middle for extraversion. I enjoy being social but I don’t necessarily thrive off of it. I am active, affectionate and talkative when I want to be but I also tend to be pessimistic. For agreeableness, I think I am pretty high on this trait. I am empathetic, softhearted and compassionate. In terms of the Big Five traits , I am moderate on Openness and Conscientious. I am low on Extraversion and Neuroticism, but high on Agreeableness. Being moderate on Openness means that I have moderate positive relationships with creativity , intelligence and knowledge. Moderate to conscientious entails that I am self-discipline, responsible , hard working and organized. Whereas, low on extraversion means I not so talkative or big on socializing with big crowds of people. In addition , low on neuroticism indicates that I am emotionally positive and not negative. Lastly, high on agreeableness means that I am warm , friendly and I usually have an optimistic view of human nature and others. When it comes to extraversion and neuroticism , I like to be socialize in smaller crowds of people , I keep a close group of friends and am happy majority of the time. On openness and consciousness, I tend to understand other peoples’ perspective and where they are coming from. In addition to being aware of others’ feelings and thoughts. Because of my openness, I tend to be welcoming to others. In comparison to others, I feel that my combinations of the five traits is unique because not everyone can possess such positive traits.
