If you like working in a fast paced environment, the news industry is the place to be. Walking into the news field I had a few ideas of what to expect, as in working holidays, finding unique stories to cover and being inside a noisy news room. During my internship at WBRC FOX6 News, I learned how to operate multiple cameras and other equipment in the studio for different news segments. I was able to work with a variety of reporters, learn about their experience from being on camera and going out in the field to cover different stories. The most interesting thing I learned was that if a reporter is not able to make it back to the station in time to get their package made, they can use their laptop to edit their footage and still send it in …show more content…
Also people who watched some of my videos were able to understand the message I was trying to get across. I could see a huge difference from the beginning and I began to be more calm and relaxed. When I first did a stand up I put emphasis on everything and when covering stories every word doesn’t need emphasis put on them. I decided to meet with Collin Gaston, who is the general manager at FOX 6. He asked how my internship was going and I told him what I enjoyed the most and also he gave me some wonderful feedback about if this was something I really wanted to do. After speaking with Gaston I sat down with Mark Glover, who is an Assistant News Director for FOX 6 and let him view my current projects. What I like the most was his criticism, because that will help me on my next stand-ups. After he watched my videos he noticed I tend to be energetic, voice is great, but when the video is ending I fall back. However, when I am delivering a stand-up I tend to focus more on what I’m saying than actually giving out the message. Any advice that Glover gave me, I wrote down so now I know what to work on and also I can be more prepared for more stand-ups. The biggest thing I’m still working on is pronunciation, speaking clearly and making sure I save all my work, because a few stand-ups I did weren’t saved right so they got deleted.

I did internship with Novogradac & Company LLP is a national certified public accounting and consulting firm with a major emphasis in the real estate sector. During my internship, I mainly audited property management company regrading cash account, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, long term debts, revenue and expense account. Because Financial Report & Analysis I and II courses covered the accounting terms and journal entries in the last summer, I could complete assignments related to audits and journal entries. In addition, I prepared for balance sheets, income statements, statement of partners’ equity for partnership, direct and indirect cash flow statements for each rental property. I delivered required financial statements
The second position I found, that involves more experience in the field, is a multimedia journalist position at WHBF, news channel 4, in the Quad Cities. This is most likely a position that you would apply for after having an internship or part-time production assistant job. The essential duties and responsibilities, include: reports news stories for broadcasts (describing the background and details of events); arranges interviews with people who can provide information about stories; reviews copy and corrects errors (following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines); reviews and evaluates notes taken about event aspects in order to isolate pertinent facts and details; determines a story’s emphasis, length and format; researches/analyzes
After conducting researches on both Principal Financial Group and New York Life Insurance Company, I would be more likely to choose to work at Principal Financial Group. Both companies have strong background. Also, the products (insurance, investment, retirement solution) and services they provide for their customer are almost similar. Two companies, Principal and New York Life help individuals to create a plan that is the best fit for each person and design to be achievable and effective. In addition, it is appeal to me that both companies value and respect their employees. New York Life have a diversity environment and provide training programs for their agents. On the other hand, Principal not only value their employees, but
As I am reaching the halfway point with my summer internship at Mandalay Sports Media I want to expand my tasks from just using the Wiretap to start using all of the softwares as well learn how to script a video. Over the past two weeks the other interns who have been here for longer were using the software called “esearch”. Esearch is an ESPN database software where they store all of the clips they gather. ESPN has a large database so using it to obtain a small amount of video footage has its difficulties. First to sign in to research you need to obtain a six digit code from one of the project managers. I was not in contact with most of them and truly just friendly with one so I went to Andy. Andy gave me the code and helped me get accustomed to the database and how it works. First, you must type in a start date and an end date so the database can minimize the videos you are searching for. Then you are suppose to type in keywords that help you find the exact video you are looking for. For example, I was tasked with trying to find a close up iso shot of Bryce Harper during a game. For this I had to use terms from my COM 107 class with the classifications of what each shot is. Since I had background knowledge of what the shots were this helped me get accustomed of using Esearch. Finding the best possible clip takes time because ESPN has a lot of content in their database but once I found the best clip I took down the start time and end time within to clip to make sure its as
While the achievements I’ve earned are valuable, what I have learned from this process is significant. I’ve learned how to act in a professional environment and how to be a quality competitor in not just Speech, but in all my activities. Furthermore, I have acquired the ability to digest and comprehend criticism. As well as giving me the opportunity to be a leader on my team, Speech has also taught me to be a leader amongst my peers. To me, Speech is more than a place to excel in speaking, it is where I have gained knowledge and skills that will assist me in my future
1. What is the audience's attitude toward me? Have I established my credibility as an ethical, responsible speaker? If not, you will have to work harder to earn the respect of your audience.
After getting over with my exam blues, I was thrilled to know that I have bagged an internship in Havas Media (HM) through my college. For me getting an opportunity to work in such a prestigious media group was nothing less than a privilege. From having an imagery perception about the industry to manifesting the actual work scenario, an internship at Havas Media familiarises me with all the vital aspects of advertising in the traditional and digital landscape. Creative Department is known as the backbone of an advertising industry and finding internship opportunity in this department is not easy because agencies don’t want to engage their
My internship at Walker Ice and Fitness has been wonderful and I have learned a lot while here. The field work evolved and my position grew as I was here longer. When I first started the internship I did not know what was really going on. I went to Sandie (the fitness manager) a lot for the first few weeks of the field work. After that, I became very comfortable and was able to do the majority of my jobs without much assistance. One of the best parts about the fitness facility is how nice everyone is. It is truly a little community from the workers to the instructors to the people exercising. The gym itself is not huge, so the members and workers really work to get to know each other which is great. The atmosphere here has been unbeatable

I think I did a good job presenting my ethos through my speech story. I convince my audience with my credibility through my speech and the way how talk throughout the speech. For example, throughout my whole speech, I shown my hands and did not hide my hands. By keeping my hands in plain view, it shows my audience nonverbally that I can be trusted. The volume of my voice was at a normal speaking tone and was not too low. Most of my audience was able to hear me and listen to me very clearly. I also presented myself with confidence and gave off the impression that I was prepared. For example, I had a smile and had constant eye contact with my audience throughout my speech. There was certain things that I was doing that was ineffective while I was talking. Throughout my speech, I kept saying um and was pausing at times. I did not realize how much I was saying and doing these actions. These actions are something I need to work on more when I present my public communication to my audience
Before beginning this internship at BMF media, I came up with two different evaluation proposals. These were certain ways to prove that I accomplished my goals. My first evaluation was in terms of my goal that was to participate and plan an event to tell a story for the client. The tangible evidence I stated that I would submit will be documentation of the process of planning the event along with photos and outcomes of the event through social media.
During my internship I worked with Franklin High School’s football team, I started on June 25th and worked all the way to August 14th Monday-Friday for 3.5 hours each day. So all together I gotten a total of 122 hours. What I did during the internship was help the coaches in any way I possibly could, such as help setting up equipment for drills, helping the quarterbacks warm up, help run drills , and being the ball boy during their scrimmages. I did anything that the coaches asked me to help with. From this experience, I learned many things that goes into being a coach for a football team. There were some thing that I noticed about the football team that I learned about in my sports in society class. I remember talking about how some athletes think that sports are their only way of being successful, and their only way of getting out were their living right now. Some of the high schoolers saw football as their ticket of getting out of their predicaments. Sometimes they focus so much on football that they let their grades slip and get into trouble with their classes. Though the coaches do a real good job of reminding them that it’s just not their athletic ability that’ll get them into a good college, but they also have to get good grades too. The coaches do a real good job of keeping their athletes on the right track and help them when they need help so that they can play football. Something that I learned in my sponsorship and sales class helped with this situation. We
During the fall semester of my junior year, my Aerospace Engineering teacher had a sign outside of his door about a program at NASA for high school juniors. Since I was interested in engineering, specifically Aerospace and NASA I decided to apply. So that night at the end of September I came home and filled out the application and wrote the essay and letters to my state representatives. I had told my parents at that point and they were excited and of course hoped I made it. I thought, “There are thousands applying and I won’t make it.”. Little did I know how wrong that thought was. When I received an email from NASA it stated Congratulations and that was when I was like: “WOW!”. I was shocked to say the least, but proud that I had made it into this prestigious program at NASA, that has now changed my life.
This quarter is most important and intense quarter for me. Thinking about the last quarter and excitement of graduation is one part but the workload is unbelievable. Five upper division classes and 100 hours of internship (10hours for HSC 4700) are definitely keeping me busy. I am doing internship at Kaiser. They provided two days mandatory training for students on March 28 and 29. Program Supervisor Mary Joy Rojo, Andy and Ivy, gave training on what intern should learn and expect while working by themselves. It was wonderful as I was able to learn and even practice. This two-day session helped me to make friends. I also participated on 3 hours event on San Leandro on April 2nd. It was an event for employee; in presence of Ivy, I helped many
My internship at the Institute for LGBT Studies at the University of Arizona has been time well-spent this semester. Not only did I create valuable professional relationships and work in a real-world office setting, but I also was able to experience what it was like to work in a field related to my major. Every day at my internship I learned something new about LGBT studies and after work every day I felt satisfied and accomplished. This past semester I was also enrolled in Introduction to LGBT Studies with Professor Galarte, and I feel that course complimented my internship very well. The intersections between my internship and Introduction to LGBT Studies were often perfect, with the course material coinciding on a weekly basis with
