My High School Internship at NASA
During the fall semester of my junior year, my Aerospace Engineering teacher had a sign outside of his door about a program at NASA for high school juniors. Since I was interested in engineering, specifically Aerospace and NASA I decided to apply. So that night at the end of September I came home and filled out the application and wrote the essay and letters to my state representatives. I had told my parents at that point and they were excited and of course hoped I made it. I thought, “There are thousands applying and I won’t make it.”. Little did I know how wrong that thought was. When I received an email from NASA it stated Congratulations and that was when I was like: “WOW!”. I was shocked to say the least, but proud that I had made it into this prestigious program at NASA, that has now changed my life. The first thing that the administrators told us was that there was an online portion that would last through February and would add upwards of 5 or so hours a week to our course load from school, as well as that we would design a mission to Mars. So me being involved in 3 AP classes, 2 Pre-AP classes, and 2 different clubs one of which I was president, I was nervous as to how I would handle that load. So that first week in November I started my online portion of my NASA internship, I learned so much that week through reading articles about new science technologies and watching videos. The program followed the outline of four modules;
Through a partnership with Northrop Grumman, I develop my own projects with mentorship from a team of engineers. During my junior year, I utilized Java Eclipse and Android to develop and copyright a mobile application that digitized my high school’s school map, making navigation much easier for students. Due to my spectacular performance, Northrop Grumman offered me a paid summer internship. In collaboration with a team of my peers and the public works superintendent of the Fairfield Waterworks facility, I built a robot capable of diagnosing cracks and leaks in water main pipes. Over the summer, I also attended an eight-hour workshop about soldering electronics. This project garnered several awards at the Ohio State Technology and Engineering Showcase. Now, I am currently developing a low-cost Arduino-powered smartphone with WiFi capabilities.
If you like working in a fast paced environment, the news industry is the place to be. Walking into the news field I had a few ideas of what to expect, as in working holidays, finding unique stories to cover and being inside a noisy news room. During my internship at WBRC FOX6 News, I learned how to operate multiple cameras and other equipment in the studio for different news segments. I was able to work with a variety of reporters, learn about their experience from being on camera and going out in the field to cover different stories. The most interesting thing I learned was that if a reporter is not able to make it back to the station in time to get their package made, they can use their laptop to edit their footage and still send it in
I am writing to express my interest in the classroom assistant position at UCLA Lab School that is available in the work study job search at myucla. I have much experience working closely with elementary teachers to assist in classroom management and activities. It will be a pleasure for me to share my teaching assistance knowledge and experience with your institute.
As a student looking for an internship, I received an amazing opportunity to be a Pathways Intern for The Army Corps of Engineers. My position is an Administrative Assistant in the Construction Branch. My office location is over in Davenport and our office is called the Central Area Office. I have been under the pathways program since December 2016 and since then I have learned so much from my job and my co-workers. It has been a place that I enjoy working for and would like to become a permanent employee in the future. It is my goal to be able to fill in a permanent position in the future.
During high school I have been selected to be part of Beloit College Upward Bound program, which is for first generation students aiming to exceed a higher education, this program helped me be become prepared for college and also work experience by helping the community by helping out in food pantry

When I first arrived at Aviation Challenge, I was expecting a very laid-back camp in which we get to do military style activities, but boy was I wrong. By the end of the first day, I had concluded that this military-based camp was just like the military (who would have known).
One failure in my life was being removed from the magnet program after seventh grade at East Columbus Magnet Academy. I had gotten a 78 in my English class. I could not believe I had let that grade drop so low. To me, A C felt like an F. At first, I was distraught, but learned to accept that I had to change schools. The transfer was rough, but I soon grew to like the school in my district. A few months into my eighth grade year, my English teacher at my new school, Marshall Middle School, asked me if I was interested in something called the T. Hiram Stanley Award. Each of the eight middle schools in my city was allowed to nominate one student. The winner was awarded $3,000. I was awarded $1,000. Even though I was not awarded the highest, I
I needed to become the best I could be, working hard instead of sliding by. I talked to the moderator of the program, asking her how I could become better. I did not want to know why not- I just wanted to know how I could become better suited for the position. Keeping in mind the moderator’s suggestions, I became even more involved, took on more leadership roles, and worked harder than I had before. When it came time to apply again at the end of junior year, I knew that I had become the best I could be. When I went to go and pick up my letter that would tell me if I would become an Ambassador, I knew that I would not care if I was not selected. After all, I had changed so much as a person; I knew that not being selected would not be something personal. I opened my letter along with other students, and just read the first word: “Congratulations!” I got validation for all of my hard work. I was so proud because I knew I had changed for the
The main task of my internship was to gain more experience and knowledge of our respective field. Overall, the experience proved to be both enjoyable and rewarding. During this internship I used the skills that I learned from my Medical Assistant class and used them in the real world scenarios at the hospital. Also while I there I was exposed to new experiences. Such as performing Urine test on Drug and alcohol patients. For this procedure I had to stand in the restroom with the patient's and watch them urinate into a cup. I had to stand in the restroom with the patients because in the past they try and cheat the system. For example
Initially, the most difficult and intimidating part of the internship was the office duties. The intimidation of office duties stemmed from the fear of doing a task incorrect. Fortunately, Aspire’s staff is very helpful and has always willing to walk me through the task I need help with. The office duties took a while to adjust to however, once I became familiar with the
Standing beside my sister,surrounded by hundreds of people, and blaring music, I stood front row at the Town Ballroom in Buffalo New York. I was witnessing for the first time, the band New Politics and they were phenomenal. It was at that moment when I realized I could follow my dreams too. The concert hall, and the band members helped me realize a valuable lesson that allowed me to pursue my passion further.
It is interesting how sometimes it is he smallest decisions that can change your life forever. For me it was deciding to enter a submission in the VFW Voice of Democracy competition that changed the course of my life. Achieving success in the contest and the opportunities I experienced afterwards led me down a different path than I first planned and was a call to action to pursue a career in public
Today was the first day of internship. I attended a new hire training secession about 8 hours and heard about the history of Novogradac & Company LLP, met the partners of the firm, completed all new hire paperwork and turned in to HR. In addition, I learned about ProSystem Engagement which company has been using for audit and tax preparation software. At the end of the day, all intern received a tour of office and met their own team members.
