My ultimate lifetime goal is to become a sports medicine physician, to help athletes’ injuries, and possibly part take in surgical and non-surgical procedures. I believe that my current academic studies will help me achieve my goals by being very attentive in my classes, making good grades and wanting to exceed my academic limits. I also believe my extracurricular activities can help me achieve my goal in becoming a future sports physician by me having an athlete’s perspective. If I can continue to uphold my grades and being attentive in my classes then I can carry a healthy habit to college. Continuing this would hopefully land me the career of my dreams, which is a future goal I intend to
Succeeding in medical school will require a tremendous amount of perseverance and passion. No one gets into medical school without demonstrating perseverance and overcoming the challenges that occur throughout the journey. I have persevered through being denied admission during a previous application cycle and throughout difficult coursework while pursuing a master’s degree. Not only did I overcome the challenges that I faced, but excelled academically, at my job, and in extracurricular activities. By continuing to pursue my dream I was exposed to numerous experiences and underwent significant personal development. I understand that medical school will present very difficult material and more frequent challenges, but my goal is to be a physician
As the coming years approach, I want my future to hold both the passion to explore new opportunities and the strength to overcome new challenges. With the experiences of my high school career, I aspire to take all the things I learned to transition into a college environment where my ideas can be challenged and shared. Where I can learn from others; where I can seek the opportunity to make a direct impact towards saving lives. I believe I can do great things. Through tenacity I will not only be gratified in becoming a doctor, but also be able to share my compassion for others through
I am currently a senior at Santa Ana Valley High School. I am planning to further my education and obtain a degree. I am certain I want to be in the medical field; I have in the medical academy for three years here at Valley and I’ve never experienced anything more amazing. Most of my classes were honor classes and a couple were AP, Advanced Placement, throughout my high school years.
As we begin to grow up and come to the end of our high school career we must start to begin to start thinking about what type of career we want to be in. It is very important that a person picks the right type of career for them. Otherwise you will be unhappy with what you are doing and will not enjoy it at all. I am not entirely sure what I want my career to be but I have a pretty good idea as to what type of job it will be. I would like to go into the field of a physical therapist and sports medicine, I fell I will enjoy this more than any other type of career just because I already have a lot of interest in it.
It’s all over the news. At least, it’s all over the sports news. There is even a movie that is entirely about this one injury. The invisible injury. An injury that can present itself as simple headaches to nausea to dizziness to complete loss of consciousness. Something that is described as a bruise to the brain caused by a bump or a blow to the head has become an athlete’s worst nightmare: a concussion (What).
I have cultivated many skills throughout my undergraduate education that I believe will help me succeed throughout medical school. My decision to become a doctor did not happen overnight but was a passion that grew with me and inspired my entire life. I am eager to start my journey at Morehouse College of medicine and become a physician that provides quality treatment and works on improving health care in rural areas and underserved communities in Georgia and across the United
Attending a First Aid course improved my confidence in emergency situations and competence to provide relevant care. I teach first aid to small groups in school as CPR training and awareness will increase chances of survival from heart attacks. My mother's illness has inspired me to complete two online courses on Cancer and Abdominal Anatomy which required efficient time management. As I have found, the ability to work as a team is essential for the role of a doctor. Effective teamwork was crucial in the Drill Team during my time as an Air Cadet and it was this which led to victory. I play Basketball socially to unwind and have been committed to Tennis, competing in several Tennis tournaments. Doctors must be diligent, resilient and empathetic, skills which I am beginning to develop. I have found that doctors must commit to lifelong learning and I believe I have begun to acquire the necessary academic skills to pursue such a demanding profession. I have learnt that the role of a doctor extends far beyond treating disease to giving patient
As a student, I strive for excellence in my academics and school involvement to pursue a career in the medical field. By taking rigorous high school classes such as IB, and honor courses,
Throughout this project my intention is to learn about all my career and college options for my desired job which is a sports medicine physician. With this report I aim to learn as much as I can about that job because then I can make an educated decision whether or not I want to pursue this career. As I write this Career Research report I hope to learn what high school and college classes I need to take and how many years I need to attend college. I hope that this paper helps me wrap my head around this job and decide whether this is a career I would like to do further research in.
Next, a sports medicine physician and a sports marketing manager also differ in education requirements. This can be dependent on years of schooling, classes to take, and some important qualities to prepare someone for these careers. A sports medicine physician usually will be in school for around ten to fifteen years. (“Job Profile: Sports Marketing”). During those years of schooling some classes will be more important than others. “ Life Sciences such as biology and medical pathway programs, when available, are valuable for starting points as high school students who are interested in a career as a sports medicine physician.” (Schmidt 69). Being in high school myself, I would have to look into some of these classes to see what is available
Who doesn't want to be considered a hero? In my eyes, it would be magnificent to be one. If you heal someone I think you could be classified as their hero. I am most interested in pursuing a career in sports medicine because it gives me the chance to help others. In this job, the salary has lots of variation because there are so many paths you can take. The training to be qualified in this career isn’t terrible depending on the specific career you choose in this field.
Deciding on what career is right for me is, perhaps, the most challenging concepts I have ever been put through. Though, the majority of students does not know what they would enjoy to pursue after high school, I do. My research on Sport and Medicine has broadened my knowledge of the career that I will, one day, be taking part of. It has allowed me to find new and more interesting facts about the career that I would one day purse after graduating high school. First, I chose this career due to the fact that I enjoy performing in sports, I get injuries, I also enjoy learning about the human body. Second, Myers Briggs Personality Test matched the personality that a Physician has, or at least parts of it. The Sport and Medicine field captivates my attention due to the study of the human body and the communication with multiple people.
I feel the Admissions Committee should know more about my medical aspirations. My primary aim is to become a successfully practicing physician in one of the various specialties that medicine has to offer. It would be naïve of me to know the specialty I plan on obtaining before I have even begun my graduate medical education; however, I do have some ideas. I have a mild interest in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery, and Primary Care. These interest stem from my shoulder injury experience, my athletic background and interests, my experience interning at the Fellowship of Orthopaedic Researchers (FOR), my time spent volunteering in the medical/surgical department at Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center (PWFMC), and my shadowing
On many occasions my personal goals have come before my professional aspirations. A career in the medical field has always been something I have looked forward to. As a child I wanted and dreamed of being a doctor, however due to the choices I made in life and the priorities that I had not thought of, I have come to realize that my childhood dream may not come true. Yet, I was able to compromise and make short and long term goals that will lead me into a career in the medical field. My long term goal is to enter the medical field world and be a respected contributor to it. I want to be able to help others in the time of need. In
I know that the road that I take to become a doctor is going to be very challenging; however I feel that my past has prepared me for taking on the challenge. As a student, I am an active participant in my academic and extracurricular activities. My first priority has always been to make good grades and learn in college. Although this is important to me, I also know that by participating in clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities, I will become a well-rounded student. I have been working hard for the last 7 years, operating as an independent, responsible adult. In that time I have constantly learnt from my life experiences and developed skills in both learning and life management. I am a very motivated person with goal setting, time management and prior skills that help me achieve what I aim to do.
