Choosing a major has been one of the most difficult challenges I have faced as a student. While many students select their major based upon statistics and ideals, I base my decision primary on my strong commitment and my passion. When you have a general thought of your career major, take some time to deduce what abilities you have and what aptitudes you require. Recall that, you are not totally beginning starting with no outside help you recently have a few aptitudes to begin. These abilities are called transferable aptitudes, and they might be connected to very nearly any field.

The profession that interests me the most is law enforcement. I chose law enforcement because I wanted to impact my community and I felt a need to work for something greater than myself. Based on the images provided by the set of slides I believe that each slide positively represented the profession. There were three different aspects of law enforcement depicted in the slides, the police officer, the corrections officer and the firefighter. The next slide showed a forensics technician and the final slide showed a police detective.

Hi, I'm Judy and this is my first year at CSN. I'm a small child who can basically pull off being a middle schooler. The psychology careers that best matched to my personality and interests were industrial organizational psychologist, forensic psychologist, and sports psychologist. I believe industrial organizational psychologist would best fit my personality, as I like looking at statistics and interpreting them, but I have more of an interest in forensics. This is more in the forensic chemistry field, but forensic psychology seems like an interesting job, even if it would be incredibly stressful. I have no interest or understanding of sports, so I wouldn't look at being sport psychologist.

The first careers that I’m going to be discussing is a forensic pathologist, which is actually something that I intend to pursue after school. A forensic pathologist is someone who perform autopsies and determine the cause and the manner of a death, disease, or injury to people who die unexpectedly, suddenly, or violently. They also determine whether the death is a homicide, suicide, accidental, natural or unknown(forensicscolleges.com). Forensic Pathologists are educated as physicians and licensed to practice medicine in the state that they are employed(explorehealthcareers.org). They have to be certified by the ABP with a subspecialty in forensic pathology. Getting certified can take between four and five years.

After I graduate high school, I want to become a Forensic Science Technician. There are many different pathways to go into Forensics. The path I will pursue is to begin my education in the Health Science Career Field in Diagnostic Services. From there I will go into the Human Services Career Field and will continue my education in Forensic By going into the health field before going into Human Services I will have an advantage by knowing more information on the human body.

James Manson Wood once said," Education today, more than ever before, must see clearly the dual objectives: education for living and education for making a living. College education is what a person makes it, it can help them achieve their hopes and dreams, or people can go because you have to to make a good living. Texas Tech University, home of the Red Raiders, is repeatedly among the best agricultural schools in the country, and it will help me achieve my goals of becoming a large animal veterinarian in the future.

As an undergraduate, I continuously have had a difficult time trying to decide a career in which I may do for the rest of my life and potentially support a family with is a daunting task. Choosing to major in Sociology and minor in Criminal Justice has given me a large variety of potential careers I can choose. During Junior year when I was getting introduced in my major classes, I developed an interest in federal occupations. I always knew that I was interested in background work such as researching for a federal agency or counseling victims and offenders. After researching various careers, I have spiked an interested in the occupation of an Intelligence Research Assistant through the federal agency of Homeland Security.

Forensic science is the application of science to the criminal justice system. Forensic science technicians use evidence submitted to them to assist in legal proceedings and accurately determine any results. There are many specific areas that many people specialize in, such as everything from analyzing the evidence to testifying in court as an expert witness. Since before I could remember, I have always had an interest in a sort of criminal justice area and thought it would be really fun and exciting to have as a job. I often read Marjorie Weinman Sharmat’s “Nate the Great” books, which were about a child version of Sherlock Holmes solving local mysteries. But even so, like every other girl I knew, I thought I would end up having a career

Some people just go into certain jobs and majors because it has a higher salary, but you need to know that money cannot buy happiness. I would rather go in a career which I love, but make little money then go into something I hate that make a lot of money. If you have to stay in one place for your career then you might want to see how many job opening are there in the area of the major you are considering. Location is a big thing for some careers to. If you want to do a major which got to deal with water, like a Marine Biologist then you need to live near a lot of water, like the coast. Internships are a great way to start getting experience for careers. If possible, you should always try to get an internship before you go into a career, because you get to know what it is like. If you don't like the internship job, then you probably wont like the career either. Doing a major with animals, like biology, or zoology, you should do an internship at a zoo or animal clinic. These are all great things to think about when deciding on your job for a major.

The goals of theoretical and applied research are divergent yet integrated. Theoretical researchers seek to describe the foundations of knowledge, existence, and understanding while applied researchers build upon the work of theoretical researchers to improve a targeted factor in a field of study. All research, whether theoretical or applied, aims to create an impact on society. The type of impact may vary from influencing policy decisions that form legislation to developing improved methodologies for field implementation. The following steps lead to impact: discovery, experimental development, public investment, and implementation.

It was hard for me to decide which career I want to be in the future because I don't know which field I'm interested in. I'm still figuring out and that's why I choose to go to Laguardia as my first year of college. When I was in high school, as I started, I wanted to be a criminal psychologist. I was watching a drama about criminal psychology and I though it was pretty cool. My mom wanted me to be a police officer because I look strong... In these occupations, I need to study further in psychology and criminal justice. I might need to read more books about these occupations. I need a master degree at least in terms of getting a good job to pursue these occupations. I will transfer to John Jay College to study further. At the end of this semester

The goal was sub 2:00. That was the dream. If I ran sub 2, so many things would click. With that time, I wouldn’t be much slower than my teammates which would mean our relay would be substantially better. It would mean that I entered the elite level, where the competition was on another level. It would give me a boost in confidence and validate my efforts and my contribution to the team. Sub 2:00 for my junior year would mean that I could possibly run a 1:57 my senior year. Our 4x8 could win SWC’s and be All-State. My application to college would look a lot better and I would be given serious thought by the college track coaches. 2:07 was ok, it was the State’s qualifying time and 2:08 was qualifying for SWC. There were no change made to my strategies and objectives. The objectives and strategies, I implemented to help me with my behavior change were manageable and completely doable. My self-efficacy throughout this whole process remained fairly high thanks to my ability to reach each objective and make use of each strategy. Achieving this lifestyle change would have been way more difficult if I had tried to cut meat and processed foods from my diet all at once. My ultimate goal is still to be eating a strict plant based diet by 2016, however, I did make a small change to my goal. Depending on my parents’ responses, I may or may not have to eat a slice of turkey during the holiday. Another alternative would be to eat a piece of fish instead of the traditional turkey. I understand being a vegetarian is my own personal decision, but I do not want there to be any fuss over my new dietary habits.
