Chapter 1: My First Karate Class (10 yrs. old) During my first class I made a lot of new friends. My first friend’s name was Emily. She and I connected because we both loveeee reading. Then the next girl I met was named Olivia. She’s not really my friend anymore but we became friends because our parents became friends from karate. Class started and I got right into learning. First I learned how to kick. When you kick you bring your leg up into a crane. Then you kick. WHen you kick you have to try to pretend you're kicking past what you're kicking so you put out a lot of power. After you kick you bring your leg back into a crane, then you put your foot down. The second this I learned was how to punch. You must remember to keep your thumb
Fitzgerald and Ms. Mendoza, Ms. Fitzgerald taught Launguage arts, and writing, then we would go across the bathrooms and Ms. Mendoza would teach us everything else. In 2nd grade I was in a class with on best friend Maddison, but somewhere in 2nd grade we weren’t friends anymore and I still have no clue why. My other best friends were Holly, Alex, Ashely, Grace, and McKenzie. During math class one day I began a weird habit where I chew on the side of my check, I thought I had stopped but it came back this year. I learned how to multiply big letters and write big words. I loved going to dance, hanging with family, being with friends, and going to b-day parties, I hated speech
When you think about the words "black belt" you likely think about karate, judo, or some other martial art. If we were talking about the MMA, you would be right. However, in the world of U.S. business finance, the term black belt refers to southern states once known for the rich black soil necessary for the cotton industry and now heavily populated by African Americans including Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Much like the current supreme court rulings have not been kind to residents of the Bible belt, federal business practices have not been kind to many in the black belt. In fact, despite the high number of blacks living in those states, only one, Arkansas, is

It all began in Mr.Osborne's fourth grade class. My friend group at the time was Emma, Grace, Cami, Chloe, and Sarah. Prior to fourth grade, we were all just innocent little girls playing on the playground
My seventh grade year was NOT off to a good start. You know when you go to school on the first day your parents are always telling you to make new friends. Well that’s exactly what my mom told me, and her advice only worked halfway. You see, I had indeed made new friends. The only problem was that one them had some jealousy issues. It all started when I met her. Audra was a drama major. We had met in musical theater. We became friends so she introduced me to her best friend, Alejandra. The thing to remember was that Audra had strict parents who wouldn’t let her do a lot of things outside of school. That meant that whenever I asked her if we could hang out, she would say no. By this time Alejandra and I had become friends. Not close friends
When I started Jiu Jitsu it changed how I felt about being more social. One sunny day in a hot summer me I have sandy blonde hair and blueish green eyes I prefer to read books and be in loud places, my sister Cheyenne a fifteen year old that has blonde hair and blue eyes she loves to read books and pink items, and my nephew Nate is a hyper thrill seeking seven year old were all sitting on the couch trying to find something to watch. Going through the boring choices of movies we couldn’t choose anything then I flicked of the tv, and turned to Chey and Nate let’s go do something this is too boring I said with a little-bit of enthusiasm. Then we went on a hunt to see some fun things we could do we found Jiu Jitsu. Chey and I talked to Mom about our special activity, and she said she would think about is. Later that night I fell asleep hoping she would say yes.
At the end of my first grade year, I moved away from the small, rural town near Vienna where I had lived since I was born. On my first day of school at Lincoln Elementary, I quickly made friends with two girls in my class named Pam and Kelly. Pam and Kelly introduced me to their group of friends that were all in our second grade class. For the rest of the school year, this group of friends was who I played on the playground with everyday and talked to in the classroom. After a great first year of school in Marion, the time came for my third grade year. Every year at Lincoln, there is a day that is close to the beginning of the school year where the students can come to the school to meet their new teacher and look at the class list to see which of their friends is in their class. On that morning, I went to Lincoln to find out who my new teacher was. To my dismay, I found out that all of my friends from second grade had a different teacher than I did. After finding out that I was not in class with any of my friends, I knew that I would have to find a new friend to talk to in my third grade class in addition to having all of my friends from second grade. At the beginning of my third grade year, I hung out with two friends I met named Phyllis and Erin. As the year progressed, I started to hang out with Angela who would soon become one of my best

My first year of wrestling was in high school my junior year. I wrestled at Forbush High School in the 106/113 pound weight class throughout this winter sport. Before, I must admit that I did at many different times think that the sport of wrestling was the most dumb and homosexual sport ever. One of my friends came up to me a few months after and asked me what I thought about wrestling. I told him like I said to everyone else, “It’s the most homosexual sport ever created.” He said, “When you’re out there wrestling, you don’t think about it. I challenge you to come out this year and wrestle and tell me if you think about anything being homosexual out there.” I accepted his challenge. My first day of
The school I was in for kindergarten to 5th grade there was only one class I stayed in for the entire day. My mom was little upset because her final child was starting school. When I hear “kindergarten” I think of Mrs. Otteson. She has been a great teacher who cared about my grades and wanted me to do my best. My first friend was Andrew Escamilla. We met in kindergarten and became friends from then on. We really didn’t see each other that often, because we both had different transportation to school. My teachers were Mrs. Otteson, Mrs. Blesie, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Rotoli, Mrs. Lacy and Mrs. Monnahan, Mr. Charnesky and Mrs. Blehm. Seven of eight of them cared about my grades and helped me get to the place I am at to this day.
On the first day my locker surprisingly opened on the 3rd try. After that I didn’t know what to grab so I decided to bring my binder and my book. Most people said to go to homeroom. Once I got there my friends motioned for me to join them. I didn’t know it at the time but the girl standing across the room, looking extremely confused, would become one of my best friends. In homeroom Mrs.
I attended Mokler Elementary School for Kindergarten until Second grade. In First grade, I met my best friend, Kenneth. I was never really into sports during school, so Kenneth and I usually walked around the playground talking about random stuff. One day we are talking about third grade, the next we are talking about pencils and which
“As a dedicated student of the martial arts I live by the code of the black belt: modesty, courtesy, integrity, self-control and perseverance, SIR!” For eight years I had to follow this creed thoroughly and whole-heartedly. When karate was first mentioned in my household, I was narrow-minded and pessimistic. The use of self-defense and fighting seemed irrelevant to my naive and youthful life. However even after what seemed to be a lifetime of complaints and arguments, my pressing parents held their ground and I was forced to start my long and rewarding journey of becoming a black belt.
New to Kissimmee I did not know what to expect. I was always a shy kid. Not thinking I was going to make any friends anytime soon I met this kid in my neighborhood called Jacob. Turns out we got on the same bus and sat next to each other on our way to elementary school. We never got the same class until fourth grade. Let me tell you the teacher was not happy me and Jacob were a tag team of little dare devils.
