One of my favorite places in Belleville West would be Mrs Steinkuhler’s room. She teaches food and nutrition plus a few other classes the the main reason it's one of the best places to visit is because of Mrs Steinkuhler she is a wonderful teacher plus she is very funny I had so many good moments in this class freshman year both semesters but my favorite was second semester when we were cooking she had everything so organized and clean and it was clean and fun environment to work in

One of the subjects that I remember well from high school is curriculum that I learned from my AP Chemistry course. I took AP Chemistry throughout my entire junior year in high school. My chemistry course was the first time that I was introduced to the “reverse classroom” teaching style. My teacher, Mr. Rippeon, explained reverse classroom (also called flipped classroom) as a teaching style where the students watch assigned lecture videos for homework, and learning activities and demonstrations are done during class to reinforce what was learned from the videos. In my class specifically, we completed small labs, did worksheets in groups, and did many short demonstrations. Some of the demonstrations included lighting tables on fire with various chemicals, experimenting with marshmallows in vacuums, and setting tables on fire. Because my
This is actually the first time i've felt welcomed in a school. Almost all the teachers are there to help and answer your questions if you have no clue but most importantly they are all there for the same reason and that reason is to help the students. All the teachers want to see the students succeed and improve. Honestly the location of the school is not the best but the teachers make the best out of it. The school recently invested in a safe security system and the school has many beautiful cesar chavez
The lunchroom at Notre Dame is better because there are more options for lunch. In grade school, the lunch ladies served one meal. If I did not like what was for lunch, I had to bring a cold lunch from home or eat nothing.
For this research, I asked one of my friends, Hannah, who still a student there to skype me in so I could observe. We started to skype at the end of her class and I watched as her and other students herded into the lunch building. She described what she witnessed as I paid close attention to the screen. Many students were either speed walking or running toward the lunch lines while other rushed to claim their spot in the cafeteria or hallway. Once all the spots are claimed in the cafeteria and on the sides of the hallway, several social groups take to standing in
Is your school lunchroom a total drag? Would you like to see changes made to make lunch time more exciting and palatable? If the answer is yes, then keep reading and I will explain some changes I would like to make.
Chapter 5 & 6 dealt with creating a space in your classroom for students to partake in questions, claims, and evidence. Science Writing Heuristic better known as SWH is used in the classroom to use language to question, to wonder, to investigate. In this type of learning the student controls his or her learning while the teacher creates opportunities for their students to engage in meaningful learning activities.
Teaching requires creating a classroom where all students are able to participate in the learning. Chapter 1 discusses the importance language, expectations, and integration. Chapter 1 introduces the topic of multicultural teaching.
If you had a tough day at school you can just walk out the front door to see beautiful Miromar lake. The actual classes are in separate buildings but they are very close to each other and there are restaurants inside the campus not including the ones in the dining hall. The best part about the campus is its run by solar power which is amazing.
With “rat droppings being recorded in the bins and drawers of the high school’s kitchen,” I think it’s safe to say that my high school has never had this bad of a problem in the school’s cafeteria. With that being said, we have had some negative situations with our lunchroom. The biggest problem we had was in my 10th grade year when we had our modified block schedule and some of the lunch classes fit in the time frame of our school’s bell schedule. This caused for some kids not getting to eat or being tardy for their next class.
Open lunches give students an opportunity to get away from the daily stress of school. With a chance to leave campus, it gives the student a break from all that is going on at school that day. It is also a way to relax and just get away from the rest of your peers. Instead of being cooped up in a lunch room with hundreds of people, you can go elsewhere to eat with a couple friends. If you’re having a bad day, open lunch gives you the opportunity to get away and take a breather. Also a good side about open lunch is, you don’t have to wait in line behind hundreds of other people. There is a slim chance of having to wait in front of that sum of people at your local Taco Bell.
Nieves is one of my favorite teachers at Stuy. His class was so organized and he put so much effort into grading our essays. In fact, he would cut up little slips with our grades and comments typed on them and then staple them to each of the essays. He's also a very enjoyable person to talk to because he's funny, but also serious and very knowledgeable. There were times in that class where I made a complete fool of myself because I talked before thinking but he never judged. I remember there was this one time where he asked what color is the flag and I said “I only looked at pictures in black and white” and he kind of froze, looked at me and then was like “oh” and moved on from there. There was also this time we watched some speech and afterwards when we were sharing what we heard, I raised my hand and said that the guy in the beginning had a higher-pitched voice, while the actual speaker had a very deep voice and that added to the message he was trying to send. Mr Nieves said that guy in the beginning was the newscaster, but I thought Mr. Nieves said that guy was castrated so I screamed, in the middle of class, “he was castrated!!” That was a pretty embarrassing moment, but Mr. Nieves laughed and moved on from there. Overall, this was a very structured class and we were very prepared for the AP. Throughout the year, the class was fun, we had enough time to write all essays, the books were very interesting, and we had a lot of fun in this class. I would recommend it to
If you could make changes in your school lunchroom, what would they be? We can all relate, because first off, public school food isn’t the best. I understand the fact that kids and teens love junk food, but would a few changes hurt? Healthier lunches, more sanitation and a more organized relaxing place to hang around between classes.
During my junior year golf career I was forced to make a decision. My AP physics teacher was offering a review session for the upcoming test on the same date that I had a golf match. It was obvious for me to prioritize my schoolwork before golf. I knew that I was already struggling in physics and that going to my teacher's generous review session would benefit. Unfortunately, my coach and teammates did not agree with me. They were furious that I was not dedicating myself to the team. He told me that I was being selfish and letting him and my teammates down. I was conflicted because I valued their opinions but as a math and science oriented student, succeeding in my physics class was crucial to me. As a student athlete, I learned that my choices
I will be helping out in the lunch room at Anthony on Fridays, I am excited to see how middle schoolers interact during lunch. I have heard many different stories about the lunch room at middle schools, and the different
I was able to experience Elementary which is the level I am interested in teaching. I was also able to experience middle school which is kind of out of my comfort zone, but I feel like it helped me. I have witnessed rules and procedures in both schools that work and do not work. I use what I have experienced as a comparison to different schools so that when I am looking for a job in the near future I know exactly what I want and I will look for certain aspects within a school. I want a school like Bristow because everyone I have come in contact with at the school is beyond welcoming and is willing to help me when I need it. The principal is always visible around the school, I would see him at least twice a day. The principal also does so much for the teachers and students. He wants everyone to feel appreciated and rewarded for the hard work that they do. All the teachers work together to enforce rules and procedures to keep the students in check and everything running smoothly. I feel like these aspects are really important when looking for a school to work at in the future. Finishing up this semester in my practicum placements makes me excited for next semester because I will have MSD placements which is what I
