When the world is in a troubled spot, a lot of times we look up to celebrities, such as singers, who often protest and inspire change through their music. Lyrics can be very deep and emotional, and several artists frequently use their songs to speak up about controversial issues. Music videos can also make strong visual aids that raise awareness. Michael Jackson, John Lennon, and Paul McCartney. Three artists who knew change was needed in the world, and who used their talent to voice opinions and speak to people.
Michael Jackson, a strong humanitarian, provoked change using his powerful lyrics and music videos. In Jackson's song "Man in the Mirror" he makes it clear that change has to start within us first: "If you want to make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make that change." Michael knew he wanted to positively affect the world, but in order to do so he had to become a higher quality person. He protests deforestation, poaching, and even war with the chilling video hoping that the habitants of this world will listen.
Finally, in Michael Jackson's deep but meaningful song "Heal the World" he informs that more love and care must be shown to one another. In "Heal the World" Jackson expresses that if people cared more for the Earth, living things, and one another than the planet can be healed with the love, "There are people dying, if you care enough for the living make a better place for you and for me" (Heal World).
