Evaluation: After collecting, analyzing, and interpreting, the aim now is to come up with a conclusion as to what definitely shapes a human being’s musical preference? If no relationship can be found, is this all just sporadic information with no evidence of direct relationship? Let’s find out. To start out, I’d like to exclude some popular opinions. The first one is that music can be determined by Age. Under evaluation, I saw no direct relationship between age and music. Sure my Grandma might not like some of my music, and I might not like some of hers. However, my Grandma likes some of the same music that my Girlfriend likes, including Lady Gaga! The thirteen-year-old kids she teaches also enjoy listening to music in her classroom. Age can tell a lot about what music was popular at the time, but doesn’t directly relate to overall musical preference. My Grandma’s sources of music were Radio, New York Shows, and Records. She still has these records and even frames them on her wall because they mean so much to her. I have never even owned a record! All I did watch music videos, a completely different medium than Radio as well. MTV, the famous cable channel centered on music (well, not today) broadcasts 24 hours a day. This is nothing short a massive exposure to a society who loves to sit down and watch TV. Trent can be at home downloading music from online, when my Dad was always busy on the weekends driving to concerts. Taylor downloads all of her music from iTunes, something completely foreign to someone from older generations. Music is a click away, backed by big Media Corporations making money on every click.
