I plan to be a music education major and teach a High School band. I want to do this career because I want to teach others what I am so passionate about and maybe even help them become more passionate about it as well. Something I've also noticed is that not only am I good at it, but, I like helping people and helping them understand anything that I know. I believe I do pretty well as a leader in my section, I taught them a lot and helped them reach a higher potential.
What my job will need from me is an expansive knowledge of music and how to explain it, and how to find other ways of explaining it for different needs. I would need to understand the ins and outs of both music and teaching, both of which I have some experience in already.
Why Do I want to be a music therapist? I dream of sharing my passion for music with others to help their wellness. I first joined band in the fifth grade. I remember taking my brand new clarinet out of it's package, and feeling a certain connection with it. Holding it in my hand, I already felt like a professional musician; even though I hadn't had one lesson.
Based on the passion I have for teaching, and music it think music education, and working with special need students is the perfect combination of both. These jobs might not pay a lot of money, but they are so rewarding the money doesn’t even matter. If it is something you love to do, then do it. I can’t wait to see where my future takes
I want to be an aspiring educator. Becoming an educator had been instilled in my mind at a young age. With my determined drive and enthusiastic personality, I will do everything in my power to achieve that. I would definitely state that I am a sufficient at time management. I make enough leisure time for my friends, and family. On the weekends I participate in the steel orchestra at my church. This instrument is indeed a divine way to release stress. In addition to playing the steel pan I also enjoy dancing and singing. I mostly dance for fun however, throughout my high school and middle school years I have participated in the school choir. I attended a performing arts school for both high school and middle; therefore, I was exposed to all the diversity of dancing singing, creative expression and visual art. Growing up it was vital for me to be a well-rounded student; I tried to include extracurricular activities besides school work in to my daily
I aspire in life to become a band director ,due to my strong passion for music. Band has helped me realize how dexterous I am as a musician. While in the band, I spent a considerable amount of time sight reading and competing at different levels of competitiveness .On the other hand,I also have a strong passion for teaching I am a compassionate person and I love helping others. I believe with the level of talent I have as a musician, my love for music and my passion for teaching this will be the perfect career for me. I am enthusiastic about attending college next fall to expand my music education.
Becoming a music teacher allow someone to show and teach music to many students, and the students will see the beauty in music. For any career, working hard is given, especially becoming a high school music director. Many factors come into question once becoming a music teacher, for example the education stages, the talents needed, the earning, and the typical day
Few would argue against the idea that we educate ourselves and our society so that we have adequate means with which to understand and interact with elements of the world around us. Subjects such as mathematics, language, history, and the hard sciences are granted immediate and unquestioned legitimacy in our schools, and with good reason. We encounter each of these elements of our lives on a daily basis. We need to have an understanding of these disciplines in order to interact with them, otherwise they are meaningless to us. I submit that the same can be said for the fundamental concepts of music. Music is something that we encounter in our society every day. It surrounds us. Indeed
Music teachers affect the world in many ways. I chose a career in music because I've always succeeded in playing music and I've always had a passion for it. I love creating, playing and teaching music. Music teachers can create musicians, and recognize natural talents. Music can give other people entertainment and it also allows musicians to express their feelings non-verbally.
The career that I have always dreamed of pursuing is a career involving music. I am interested in being an elementary school music teacher. This career would be a perfect fit for me due to the fact that I love children and music. It is one of my natural abilities to care for others and to share my knowledge of music. I would love to share my love for music to those younger than me. To be able to do this career, you must possess the attributes of patience, care, and calmness. In this career you must be upbeat, musical, and willing to help kids even when things get noisy. (Elementary Music Teacher: Job Duties, Career Outlook, and Educational Requirements) I possess all of these qualities, so I truly believe that
Becoming a music educator is not a brash career choice, but rather a fulfillment of the desire to insure the continuation of a love for music. While many claim to have a superficial appreciation for music, it is the educators who preserve and develop it. As a music educator, I would like to make my students feel secure in their abilities, create lifelong bonds with others dedicated and passionate about music, and contribute in the continuation and preservation of music.
In one short week, my entire outlook on being a teacher morphed drastically. Until this time, I had an idea of what it was going to be like as a music teacher. These thoughts were simple and practical. Never did I realize how exhausting, time-consuming, stressful, and amazing it would actually be. This week helped me reflect upon my philosophy of music education. It also allowed me to work on certain goals that I would like to attain before I accept my first teaching position. The experience was an overall taste of what I will be experiencing full time in just over a year.
I’m interested in this career because I love teaching, and playing my own instrument. I think being surrounded in a musical environment would be awesome, even just being a performer or producer would
Before even entering college, I have taught multiple students music weekly for free. It was a grueling experience as I also had to continuously study and learn new topics to plan ahead accordingly so that the students’ proficiency in music grow naturally so that their techniques would be engraved in their body and mind. Yet, even though it was an exhausting job, to this day, it is still one of the most invigorating experiences I have had as a high school student. This choice to teach has allowed me to continue teaching in different environments, and I now ultimately wish to a chance to teach in the JET program. Through my experience in teaching, teamwork, and music education I can bring an enjoyable school life for the Japanese students while sharing my experience as a foreigner that can pique interest for people of Japan.
“Education- should enhance understanding of the world, of oneself, and of one’s own experience” (Kelly 2009). What is important about music education? There are many important aspects in music education like pedagogy and performance. For me, music education is about letting the students express themselves. Having the ability to give an idea or to vent is a vital tool in today’s society. This concept influences music because expression is not only in how to connect a phrase, but also how to tell a story. With my time in college, Dr. Joseph Frye will always tell me to tell a story with music. He will also ask me what I want to feel after playing a piece. This is what I believe is important in music education.
Music is something that has inspired me since the age of 4 years old. My parents would recall me always setting up pots and pans from the kitchen into the living room to bang on with my first pair of drumsticks. Playing the Drums has been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember. My love and passion for Percussion instruments is the main reason why I want to pursue a career in teaching middle school and high school level Percussion students.
Gouzouasis, P., Guhn, M., & Kishor, N. (2007, March). The predicative relationship between achievement and participation in music and achievement in core Grade 12 academic subjects. Music Education Research, 9(1), 81-92. doi:10.1090/14613800601127569. Peter Gouzouasis, Martin Guhn, and Nand Kishor, professors at the University of British Columbia, assert that art subjects are a great potential partner for academic studies because many of the skills one acquires from a music class are transferable to academic skills. They deliver their compelling argument through deductive reasoning and empirical research. To elaborate, they begin by discussing how little research has been done to support the theory that music skills benefit students academically; and then conduct their own experiment on 11th graders involved in music courses to predict the students’ scores as 12th graders. They then provide their empirical findings which show their scores to be considerably higher than non-music participants, by doing this they show readers hard evidence that proves their assertion. They do this to appeal to the reader's sense of logic in order to persuade them to realize the importance of music not only for its intricate beauty but for its blatant advantages it gives to students academically. The intended audience for this paper would be school administration and music educators because the authors urge administrators to see the benefits of music, while stating that music educators must be
