Hero: She is the ideal representation of women in Shakespeare time. She is a modest and gentle lady. Also, she is good-looking and honest woman. She barely talks during the first scene of act one.
Beatrice: She is Hero’s cousin but nothing like her. All the contrary, she is outspoken and ingenious. She is really proficient using words. Beatrice most of the time in the first scene is making fun of other people. She is always in a war of words with Benedick. She claims to disdain love.
Benedick: He is one of the soldiers who recently came from the war. He is a good friend of Claudio and Don Pedro. He, as well as Beatrice, likes to laugh of other people. He claims he will never fall in love because he doesn’t trust women. Benedick in his particular conflict of love and hate with Beatrice uses figurative language in abundance giving the first scene of the play a lot of amusing moments.

Claudio: Another of the soldiers who came recently from war. He is a young and brave man. He is kind of naive because he falls in love for Hero without really knowing. In addition, he is always following the suggestions of others instead of making his own decisions. Also, he is impulsive and jumps easily to conclusions. How can this act/scene be related to today’s
Abstract: This paper deals with the character analysis of Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing. The story is set in Messina. This is the story of culmination of a chaste woman, Hero. Though Beatrice is supposed to be a supporting character in the play, she however steals the show. Her intelligence combined with her softness makes her the most awesome character of the play. She sees the inappropriateness of the world and instead of being a silent observer, she chooses to raise her voice against it, which is a sure sign of wisdom.
Beatrice and Benedick as a Couple in William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing 'Much Ado About Nothing' is a Shakespeare play set in Mecina. It is a comedy, about Don Pedro and his friends. The play focuses on the relationships of the characters, especially that of Beatrice/Benedick and Claudio/Hero. The two romances follow two different ideas, one an average romance in Shakespeare's day, the other a not so average romance. Beatrice and Benedick's history together is made clear from the start, when Beatrice tells the messenger bringing news of Benedick's return, that he 'is no less than a stuffed man', implying that he is very full of himself.
When the men went to war, Claudio proved himself to Don Pedro. Claudio took the position away from Don John as Don Pedro’s right hand man. This much to Don John’s displeasure, he says to Conrade “He has all the glories of my overthrow”. This means that Claudio is now best friends with Don Pedro and being called a hero by Don Pedro. A characteristic of a credible villain is a motive for their evilness, Don John’s is he is jealous of Claudio’s relationship with his brother. Don John tries to ruin Claudio’s happiness by claming Hero has been unfaithful. Don John also has henchmen, which is another characteristic of a villain.
On the other hand Benedick and Beatrice’s relationship is different; their relationship is not superficial but deeply rooted within them. They enjoy insulting each other as Benedick says to her ‘what my lady disdain! Are you yet living?’
In Act 3, in the absence of men, Shakespeare develops Hero’s character. She is decisive in Scene One and commanding, “Good Margaret, run thee to the parlour” she orders. We witness a development in Hero’s character; she is dominant and authoritative; she initiates and organises the plot to gull Beatrice, the second benevolent plot in the play. For the
The biggest change in Benedick’s character is risen from his relationship with Beatrice. And we can see this throughout the story as they are unable to converse
Furthermore, Hero and Claudio have some asymmetry among them. In which Hero is merciful Claudio for what he´s done. And on the other hand, Claudio is inconsiderate
Other characters, like the Prince, have a place in the society of Messina. Despite being the only character without this social status, Don John is one of the only characters who stays true to who he thinks he is. Thought the play several of the other charters call into question who they are, who they support, and what role they play, but Don John stands apart. IN act one this becomes more evident as he declares himself a “plain-dealing villain” (I.3.25), and that others should “seek not to alter [him]” (I.3.29), meaning that altho is position as a outsider was not chosen, he knows his place and his identity. This rhetoric that Don John states draws a stark comparison and revels the reality that all the confusion that is caused is because the other charters are not capable of honest reflections of themselves. If Claudio was able to do an honest reflection about himself, perhaps he would have realized that his quickly changed mind about affections for Hero means that he is not in love at all. IN addition perhaps is Hero was able to this same sort of reflection, he would have realized that in her marriage she sought only to please others, and her happiness lie
Although Shakespeare meant to create these two evil characters alike, there are a few differences between them. Don John set up Claudio using other people to convince him. I go used his manipulative speaking and wits, along
Although Othello is characterized as a hero, he is also characterized as a villain. A villain is defined as the bad guy who causes ruin through diabolical plots. Othello fits this characterization through his plan to kill Desdemonda and Cassio and he is successful in the killing of Desdemonda, but Cassio survived the attack from not Othello, but
In “Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare”, Beatrice and Hero are the converse of one another more ways than one, for Beatrice is using her wits to torture someone she desperately likes (Bendick) on the other hand with Hero you get to see a gentle character who doesn't have a backbone, but both want what best for each other no matter what. This supports my thesis because This proves how Beatrice and Hero are somewhat similar because both are describes as ladies who have good hearts and intentions because they do try to help each other find true love and I think there is quite a sister bond. Overall this shows that Hero and Beatrice are both well meaning and thoughtful even if one of them doesn't want to show it.
The first use of trickery in Hero and Claudio's relationship is when Claudio's friend, Don Pedro, pretends to be
Beatrice and Benedick are interesting due to Shakespeare’s use of language. Confusion is created as to whether they love or hate each other owing to their snide comments, such as Beatrice’s response “A bird of my tongue is better than a beast of yours” (1.1.104), notably continuing the reference to animals, after Benedick
Beatrice is Benedick's love, and Leonato's niece. She is just like Benedick just from a girl's side of view. Those to bicker back and forth at each other so much that a person would think how could they ever fall in love together. Beatrice has a small little crush on Benedick, but it is hard to tell because she makes fun of him all the time. Before Benedick comes into Messina she asks how he is and if he is injured or in other words okay. That is Beatrice's way of dealing with men, she may be a little immature in relationships. Beatrice's views change suddenly also when she overhears the gossip that Benedick has a thing for her and wants to wed her. Now she is also a caught in the middle with the gossip and believes that this is true, that Benedick does have thing for her. Now Beatrice is in love and it is much ado about nothing because
The play takes place in a period where deception known as the greatest sin, consequently there are many in the play with multiple characters. Don Pedro, also known as the Prince, goes to Messina, Italy after being victorious in a war with his brother Don John. There Claudio an officer and friend of the Prince falls in love with Leonato’s daughter, Hero, he hoped to marry her as soon as possible. However, Don Pedro planned to deceive Claudio’s relationship because he helped to defeat him along the Prince. He made one of his men take part in an act with a woman who resembled Hero to make it seem that Hero was with another man. As the two were together Don John made it appear like Claudio and Don Pedro stumbled upon the scene. As Claudio watched in horror outside the window, he announced that he was not to marry her at the wedding he believed that she cheated on him with another man. The following day of Claudio’s wedding with Hero he announced of her deception to another man as the Prince was alongside him as they had seen the act disturbed. After Claudio denounced Hero in front of the townspeople she plotted to go into
