Morally it does make a difference in Ms. Bestor’s decision not to renew Mr. Flemming’s contract because of his lack of effort towards his teaching. As an educator our goals is to provide the best environment for students to learn and succeed. Mr. Flemming was not committing himself to that oath. I believe prior to the “Mr. O” incident, Mrs. Bestor already began convincing herself that Mr. Flemming was not the right fit for her school. Morally she knew he was doing an injustice to students and his colleagues. Though he had great attributes as a teacher, the bad outweighed the good.
Therefore, the teacher would be under an employer, the person who is paying the salary or wage to the teacher. Under a business point of view, contracts are typically signed that waives certain rights from the teacher from performing a considerate amount of actions. Some examples could be suing the company or even teaching certain topics. Bryan also summed it up well; that “as a representative, [Scopes] has no right to misrepresent; as an employee, he is compelled to act under the direction of his employers and has no right to defy instructions and still claim his salary (p.191).” Under business regulations and terms, Scopes would be deemed guilty. However, in this case, it was merely if Scopes violated the Butler Act. While Scopes did violate the Butler Act, the Butler Act itself would be considered a violation of Scopes’ rights of freedom of religion and speech. Hence, this would be the reason why in 1926, the Tennessee Supreme Court reversed the court guilty ruling and dismissed the
It seems that in this country people want to rush to the courts to fix things. George could not be fixed by the courts so the time had come to be realistic about meeting George’s needs as no law in the United States gives the state the right to NOT meet his needs. Having looked at the final settlement and the numbers involved it seems clear to me that the family was not out to “milk the school district”. They wanted simply to see their son get the most he could get from the educational system and become as viable of an American citizen as possible. This case cries out for thinking outside the box and putting the child first. Unfortunately, as I have seen from interviewing other teachers many parents simply want a fix for their unfixable child. This case does not fall into this category and the fact that in the end solutions were found demonstrates that point.

If Mr. Langford had lost that commitment, my personal enthusiasm would have been greatly reduced. The excitement that he showed was contagious. No matter what my own personal attitude was like, I was able to place the world aside for a short period to focus on the lesson. Without the enjoyment that was given, the class would have quickly become boring and mundane. At that point, I would have quickly lost interest. Without his commitment and dedication, he would have become just like so many other teachers that had come in and out of my life at that point. In hindsight it wasn’t that he appeared to be an overlay intelligent, charismatic, or extraordinary person. It was that he cared and he showed us a genuine compassionate that he had for his
After reading the article, I can related to the boss. The boss did the correct decision of terminating Colvin. Colvin lie about having a family emergency and went to a Halloween party. For not being honest to his boss he did deserved to be terminated. I can related to this story. When I was a supervisor for an after school program I was responsible for 12 staff and 180 students. It was really difficult to have full staff. One day I had three teachers out because they had to attend a training. So, I was going to be out of ratio. One of the teachers decide to text me 30 minutes before her work schedule to inform me she will be out for the day due to a family emergency. I was okay with it and help the teachers out. As we were getting ready

The teacher tenure policy is only sufficient for teachers who perform unsatisfactory in their profession. Proficient teachers who actually teach, and complete a great job in their profession don’t even want it in view of its biased name and how much incompetence teachers get away with it. The only down side of the teacher tenure policy is it’s ability to keep incompetence teachers in classrooms to waist student’s time and not teach them anything. Teachers who effect a disappointing job at performing a lesson should be fired considering that only means they're keeping the job for the money, but aren't actually in it to teach students and help them grow and
Maybe it’s just a quirk? Or a habit? But either way, without it, you’re not quite sure if you’d even be you.
